The new threat is Coyote.... Yes, Kiyotee's char which is now an NPC in Outbreak. Kiyotee was the very first registered forum member of the pre-beta boards back in September 2001 and sadly passed from us last year. The devs honored him by replacing the NPC in the tutorial who asks you if you want to go to AP or GC, even adding his story.
D'Ark, did you do that on purpose or didn't you know about Kiyotee? Dunno, I have mixed feelings about this...

Yes I knew. I figured it would be a nice 1 year tribute.

He was a great guy, in the game or not.

I think that's a nice touch. Kudos. :)

Unfortunately, I can't say that I knew him, but from what I've heard from everyone else, he seemed like someone who was really a positive force in the community. I'm glad that the devs (and now you, D'Ark) decided to honor him for that.

Thats a nifty piece of very cool history. I wasn't aware of that. I second the Kudos.

I think the fact that his character is in Outbreak, just speaks volumes for this game's dev team.

Very Late Post:
I noticed this way back too before I joined the forums. Very cool.

Yeah, Kiyotee was cool even though I only talked to him a few times, he was a nice guy to have around though and was the real newbie-helper of the old forums.

What they don't mention is that Kiyotee was the very first forum member of the pre-beta board. Therefore the honor, everybody knew him, including the devs.

Hmm... you're right. Being since IMDb is user updated, I think I'll add that part.

It shows great humanity of the CoH dev team to imortilize him like this.

WoW did something like this. A member of their Dev team died and they made a shrine or something that is hard to get to. Always cool when they do stuff like this.

Yeah, but this wasn't a dev. It was just somebody who was on the boards. The pre-Beta boards, and I doubt anything like that could happen with the current players, but it was still a really nice thing to do. In a way, it is a tribute to the players.
But then, I think kiyotee would have thought of it like that, too. :D

Well he was at one point a CoH.Com moderator and worked VERY closely with the devs. I'd very much doubt Charon would end up as a trainer if I, all of a sudden, popped my clogs.

Well, yeah, that was kind of my point, it was a one time only thing. :D

I think they might do something like that for Mac or Jazz, too.

Not really. Mac stopped playing the game ages ago (shortly after beta) and left for EQ2. And he had been having problems with NC. And Jazz has been around, but, though I like the old Jazzbot, he somehow never had the "fame" and popularity Kiyotee had.
