(EDIT: Changed the thread title to keep this ball rollin'...)

To the decade I miss so much.

I miss big hair, hoop earrings
and studded leather boots
I miss leather jackets and ripped jeans
and Chuck Taylors
I miss Doro Pesch and Ronnie James
I miss nights falling asleep with the Crϋe full blast
on my headphones

I miss the mullet - damn it I said it
I miss Wayfarers and rock patches on denim
I miss Flying V's and drumstick twirling
and unearthly guitar solos you can't believe
you're hearing

I miss 'showing some metal' and getting it back
with as much enthusiasm as used I throwing it
these dreams are nothing without the friends I miss
the most

The music, the memories, the madness of metal...
Agree or don't, laugh or don't, shake your head or bang it...
just throw a hand up for me. \../,

Preach on, Reverend. :(

Hell, I just miss the early 80's when Michael Jackson was actually cool. Does anyone else remember those years?

Yes, Wid, I remember. My music was really New Wave and Punk, though, but I feel ya Rottie.

*points and laughs at the old people* ;)

*sigh* I'd still liked to have experienced a time, when Michael Jackson was still cool.

You just wait until your favorite music hits the classic rock station. Then, all the cool kids can point and laugh at you. :chuckle:

I wept the day I heard Def Leppard on the oldies station...

About two weeks ago, I heard the elevator music version of "You Can Do Magic" (America, 1982) while I was eating dinner at Captain D's.

I loved that song when I was about ten years old.

I just about broke down and cried. At a table in the middle of a Captain D's restaurant.

Yeah, those boots were made for walking.

Oh, crap. Wrong decade.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing! I wonder if you can still get some of those...

I miss the 80s, too, but not so much for the metal sound of that decade, but more for the (real) punk rock, the new wave sound, and back when alternative music was, well, really an alternative. I miss publicly dissing disco, but privately liking bands like Abba. I miss seeing bands like U2, REM and SRV for less than $10 at small venues. God those days were fun.

Ah well, I still have the girl I fell in love with back then, and at least some of those great songs on CD - not too shabby, all things considered. :)

That time never existed.
Sure it did...around the time of Beat It and Thriller. It didn't last long, of course; That golden age of Michael Jackson flickered and died once he started cutting up his face and sleeping with a chimp in an oxygen tent.

But it was good while it lasted. :D

That's what Bubbles said, too. :chuckle:

You forgot the Studs, Spikes and Chains boots. I mean, come on. Those sweet boots look like the Alice Cooper special.

Here's something else I made for another thread... I got a chuckle out of it, anyways:

...not to mention a slight sigh and a smile. Those were the days. You don't know HOW many jackets I defaced with black Magic Marker back in the day.
