More importantly this is a highly period of downtime for alot of people.
Not to say that I'm not always working to better the team. Whatever I do, I do it for a reason and for something further down the road.
That and Grae Smells. I'm also waiting on two other people to apply to the team. They are taking a bit longer cause I'm trying to enforce a level requirement.
Gotcha. Was just wondering where everyone was at. But I guess it is good. It gives those who are low in level time to catch up. I was almost success in getting to 30, but other things came up during the week. Plus, I burnt myself out. Heh. 2 bars from 28 though.

I tried WoW as well, and quickly returned. Man, that is a slow game.
The deal with me and USS, if it is not a scheduled thing it is hard for me to drop what I am doing and log on Coyote Storm. You all know I lead the PK and it is a big, extremely active group so if I am on, I am either a)meeting an applicant, b)in a team with Knights, c)organizing an event/TF or d)doing some kind of crazy PK admin thing. You guys are always welcome to join me if there is room.

Ain't that much of a difference. All of the active people are in range. Melty is the highest, and then Coyote, who is 32, then Angelican, Nova, and Justice Prime are 20, Omniburner is 28, Streak is 27...
...and I drew a blank. :shinner: Dutch is on hiatus, Psionaura and Sonic Harpy, well I dunno where they are. Mitheria is available whenever (Stan said so), Twilight Avenger is on when we're off due to time differences. And yeah. Drew another blank.
Meh. Well ain't too much too do in the City of Heroes. It's just constant beat-em-up and go to the next mission or zone to do it all over again. There's badge/accolade hunting we could do too.

He's active. I've teamed with him late at night. His schedule is a bit messy at the moment.
Here's my deal for this weekend.
Twilight Avenger-Make 20 before saturday so I can have a nice suit to wear to dinner for the half hour I'll be there. Halfway through level 18 with a massive debt.
Mr. Regal-someway somehow he must be to 30. I will be making a big push after . . . There is an RP ceremony at 1:00pm PST on Saturday in Perez.
Empyreal-Hot tub party at 10:00pm PST (gm -8 ) friday night.

Just adding to this friendly debate! This is friendly, right? :D
What's the point of kicking inactives if there's no recruitment? Its not like kicking people will magically make it easier for everyone to make it to the events and teams.
To explain my point more clearly, I prepared this little skit. Enjoy
*jazz hands*
Guy one: "Everyone is busy! Kick all the inactives!"
Guy two: "Done."
Guy one: "There! Now we can team more often!"
Guy two: "..The inactives didn't prevent the actives from teaming."
Guy one: "Oh, we'll get more members."
Guy two: "No one is joining."
Guy one: "Well still, kicking those inactives showed them to stop being so busy! Maybe it'll finally show people where to put their priorities!"
Guy two: "But sir." *steps forward to front of the stage* "Threats can't make people's time grow. And kicking inactive people won't make it any easier recruiting people. They might be nervous to join when they see all the people we kicked!"
Guy one: "Yet the SG list looks nicer! The.. five people left, all logged in within three days!"
Guy two: "Just because it looks active without the inactives, doesn't make it any better. All those people could be logging in at different times of the day, so still little teaming goes on."
Guy one: *kicks Guy two out of the SG* "Shut up!"
*end scene jazz hands*
Kick people if you must, but its not going to solve anything, I assure you. :)

03-23-2006, 02:50 AM
But Joe, what good does it do having someone who hasn't even logged in or be around for over 30 days? I know some people haven't been on longer than that. I agree no recruiting, I think things at some point will sort themselves out. I have a question for you. Are you coming to the dinner with SK event on Saturday night after we get Haze to 50? You better not say no, because there is no reason your character can't be there alone for one night.
Joe Schmoe
03-23-2006, 03:06 AM
Yep. :) I'll be there.
But as to the question, because they're interested. They want to be a part of a team, and they are trying to be there. What's it hurting for letting them sit there? They've provided prestige, and have bothered even making a character for the team. Again, kick them, but its not going to help. There's absolutely no point in it. No bonuses, except I believe we lose prestige. If that's a bonus
Bitter Babe
03-23-2006, 03:37 AM
Good :)
Well, we don't lose any prestige if we kick anyone actually. They were interested, but are they now? Some people we don't even know where they went, they just fell off the CoH universe. I know you, Krypto, etc., have school and I understand that since I'm doing that too, so I wouldn't think of kicking you guys cause you have a good reason.
Joe Schmoe
03-23-2006, 04:01 AM
*nods* Maybe if we set up a day limit?
Maybe I'm just speaking out so strongly because people do this all the time. And its usually a sign of a SG dying. Kick out all the inactives, no new people join, and more inactives pop up. Inactives will always happen, its just something to deal with. There will be active and inactive waves. Continually kicking inactive people without recruiting enough to replace will just make the SG die faster.
Also, god, its annoying when you finally find the time to play that game/SG, sit down, log on, and you aren't a part of anything anymore. And for what? Kicking people makes sense when you're on the borderline for having a full team, but we're not even close here. Who are we making room for? What example is being made? How would we even benefit from kicking? And how would keeping them here hurt?
I'm all for recruiting more Gurus. Because to solve this:
Sorry if this is harsh or hurts peoples feelings or whatever, but I don't want us to be inactive anymore, I want to level, and I want to do it with everyone above, but I think doing something together once every two weeks isn't too much to ask for. If you can't hack it, get out, that simple.
We need to get active members or get inactive members to be active. Kicking people isn't going to help anyone level, and people not being kicking is not going to slow any leveling. You know, I'd also like to see some of the members who DO have a different play time then most make their own little events, with the times more convenient to them.
One thing, what happened to those PM notices?! I liked those! I think it'll help those out who easily forget to check this section. Might help get more people to show up to the events, yes? If we had more of a notice? Cause I'm admitting right here, I had no idea about this thread, nor about that event Saturday.

I'm probably the most unneeded(not the best adjective) of all I try to be active, but I just never really find the teams nor time/patience... I do try to get as much leveling as I can from my escapades into Peregrine Island... As for Umbral... He's on in the afternoons before his work. Oh, and before certain people complain about people being inactive in this SG, perhaps they should remember other SGs that THEY ARE INACTIVE IN and do something about THAT first.

Again, this may have been the original concept, but CLEARLY the U.S.S. evolved into something much more than a "casual" group. Novastryke wouldn't have become my Main if not for two things: 1, Major reaching 50, and 2, the U.S.S. being the best damn SG on virtue, there was nothing more interesting than what we were doing and were all about...and this really hasn't been the case as of late...yeah some of us come on and we try to put something together but it's not like it was, and I think that's where people are upset.

I think it moved past a casual group a long time ago in my opinion. Anglican has become my main since this.
Grae Knight
03-23-2006, 01:31 PM
I joined this group for several reasons and foremost was the opportunity to learn how to RP better and play with SK because he is a friend. The first is hard to do when 75% of the membership is rarely logged on. I was really enjoying the development of the characters we had going on with Twilight, Justice, Commonwealth, Firecast, Dutch, Nova, Capt, Anglican and a few others...but that is dying out. I think what the people want is some way to kick start the group back into action. SK has made several attempts in the last month like the RP Arena bout with Malice, the training RP and now with the Dinner with the Prez, there just has not been enough interest.
I don't know if kicking them will bring the interest back up or if the threat of kicking them will get them to log on their character but I agree something needs to be done. Regardless what happens, Coyote is staying in the USS and I plan on continuing with the RP. I think we should look at getting a TF scheduled for next week. Even if it is one we have already done like the level 24 respec trial. It is quick and can be RPed with ease.
Meltman
03-23-2006, 01:32 PM

suburbanhell
03-23-2006, 01:34 PM
But Melts...your MAIN is in our group....MELTMAN! Is Meltman not Meltman?!? O_o
I think the major issue at hand is what we have now as a group isn't what we had as a group not so long ago and people want it back, I know I want it back, I want the signup sheets and the Rping and mysterious characters and the whole days spent together on a TF or a mission chain that will eventually lead us to some amazing finding...and this is why I don't blame leadership whatsoever...

Awww, Anglican will protect you ;)
Wouldn't be an issue if the compliants didn't start flaring up every time there is a down period.
And like most ideas, this was semi thrown out because it took off, Meltman.
What you want to see it die out now?
Jesus God.
Just delete the damn thread already. All I wanted to know was where everyone was. For Christsakes, is it so wrong to wonder where the Hell everyone is, and have hopes the SG doesn't sink in? You make it sound like I'm personally attacking you, SK, and I wasn't. My first post doesn't ridicule how you've let the SG start to sink in, or how you're doing a horrible job. When I started the thing those weren't even my intentions. But now you're making me sound like I did this just to be a douche bag and pester folk.
I don't appreciate it. If you don't like these types of threads then fine. I won't post anymore, and you need to make it clear to everyone else.
