So, yesterday I was fooling around with the new costumes, and realized that I had an awesome idea for a Kheldian in that far flung day when I actually hit 50. One problem, I don't have a name for him. Any suggestions? Like to keep it real Golden Age.
Yes, there's some obvious Captain Marvel influence. Except Captain Marvel never turned into a squid.
Peacebringer or Warshade?

Why not go with your influence, and call him Kid Marvelous. :)

Peacebringer or Warshade?
Probably a peacebringer. While a 10 year old kid using the souls of the defeated to slay his enemies might be a sort of funny picture, it's not quite what I was going for.

Giant Forehead Lad!
But seriously. Hmm. You could make him a spin-off of an adult character you have, or just call him The Lightbulb or Xenon or Neon or something. Tungsten, maybe. The Tungsten Kid.

Let's see... he's an alien, and he has a lightning bolt on his chest...
Starbolt
Thunder Star
Thunderling
Or, go with the colours on his costume.

Kinderlad?
Peace-Maker? (Which might be funny, if he hangs out with Imp. He'd be the Pace-Maker.)
The Cosmos/Kosmos Kid?

Tell me about it. :D Although I constantly refer to him as "Bloodwolf", his actual name on Virtue is Blood Wolf. Bloodwolf was already taken.
Interestingly, I was unable to get both Sandy and Bloodwolf on the same server. If I was able to get Sandy, Bloodwolf was taken, and if I got Bloodwolf, Sandy was taken. That's why on the server where I decided to keep Bloodwolf, Sandy uses her full name, "Sandy Jensen". I never play either character there, though...
And of course on Freedom, although I got Jade Dragon, there is a "JadeDragon" running around. :D I actually saw him run past me one day.

Yeah, Cosmos Kid is a cool name, I'd vote for that one. :)

I'd vote for Kinesis. The whole 'Kid' and 'Lad' thing is kinda dated IMO. Besides, the 'Kid' will eventually grow up (such is the way of these creatures) and the name won't fit, I don't think. If it's a concept character though, all bets are off.

Well, the nice thing about Kheldians is that they don't neccesarily follow human aging patterns.
And if you go with Cosmos Kid, I'd sugest switching the red on the costume to blue, but that's just aesthetics. :p

Well, the point is that it's sort of a fun Golden Age thing.
And damn, how long do you think we're going to be playing this game? The kid's not gonna grow up. I've been playing this game for a year now and I haven't grown up. ;)
I'm actually trying to stay away from the word "Kid" since I've already got a western themed hero by the name of the Getaway Kid.
And originally, the uniform was blue, but it looked too much like my hero Skyblade.

Sandy can't grow up. The organs responsible for growth have been destroyed, so she's stuck at 15. She's 17 now, but that's why she's supposed to have that skinny, "break her in half with a glance" look to her. She never finished developing.
If you set all the sliders to the left on the male model, he REALLY looks like a kid. Like Robin from the Teen Titans cartoon. It's the short legs, really, although of course the skinny build helps. I'm guessing that's what coldcut did, because even without the face, that kid looks really young.
I kind of doubt most people will be playing long enough to "age" their characters. I mean, Robin was the same age for years. He didn't just appear in the comics one day in the sixties, and then the next day he was Nightwing, and all the new Robins came along. It's something that happened over decades. Maybe in 2015 coldcut can adjust the sliders to make his character an adult. :D

Yup, although I left the waist halfway, which keeps him looking more like a kid and less like a really atheletic midget. And this picture doesn't really do it justice. For some reason the legs there look a lot more prominent than they do in the game.

Well, the other Golden Age cliche is "Junior". You know, like Captain Marvel, Junior. So Cosmos Junior, or Kinesis Junior. (You might even go with Starblade Junior, if he's that much like an existing character)
I like the alliterative sound of Kinesis Kid, though. How about reversed, Kid Kinesis or Kid Cosmos?
[edit] Heheh, I just thought, given the influence of Captain Marvel on the character, "Captain Cosmos, Junior". It's got the alliterative sound again...

Refresh my memory here. Golden Age of comics is generally considered to be what chronological period? Because the furthest back I remember, the names were incredibly simplistic, often using an adjective or noun + a sex designation (i.e. Superman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Batman, Hawkman). But I know jack-all about Kheldians (too busy learning the ATs I CAN access) so the aging thing is news to me :P

Golden Age itself is around the 40's and 50's. From what I can tell, it's sort of a rough term itself, although it usually refers to the really cheeseball stuff, comics in its infancy. A lot of times when people talk about the Golden Age, they're really talking about the Silver Age. This makes me sound like a much bigger comic book geek than I really am. I just have a lot of time on hands lately.
I'm not being real scholastic here, I'm just looking for a half cool, half cheesey name.

The Golden Age was primarily the DC period, from WWII through the 50's. Most of the heroes were, as you say, simple names with "-Man" or "-Woman" on the end, although titles such as Captain, Doctor, Mister or the like were also extremely common. Names were usually two words even if you didn't have a title or suffix, so for instance there was the original Green Lantern, Phantom Stranger, Johnny Thunder, and so on. The heroes were also more mystical, and their costumes were more colorful and complex. (Green Lantern, for instance, had a red shirt, green pants, purple cape with collar and red lace-up boots)
The Silver Age supposedly was marked by the introduction of the Fantastic Four, and the rise of Marvel. While there were exceptions, Silver Age heroes typically had only a single word name, which described their power, like Storm, Wolverine, Hulk, and so on. The redesign of the DC heroes is also considered an important part of the Silver Age, and so you have the modern Green Lantern, Flash, Wonder Woman and so on in much more streamlined costumes, more technological looking and usually only two colored instead of three or more.
Although the "teen heroes" are generally considered part of the Silver Age, the teen sidekick is actually more of a Golden Age thing. In fact, the Teen Titans originally were a Golden Age group, with the teen sidekicks of the famous DC heroes joining together, Robin, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Speedy (Green Arrow's sidekick) and so on. Since Golden Age teen heroes were typically just sidekicks, most were just the better known hero's name with "Kid", "Lad", "Boy", or "Girl" in place of "Man" or "Woman". Thus, Aqualad, Wonder Girl, Batgirl, Superboy, and so on. (Although Speedy and Bucky seem to be a sub-trend of their own)
Note that the new Teen Titans, though (which are generally what people are thinking of when they talk about the Teen Titans) were a Silver Age series. Cyborg, Raven and Starfire all match the Silver Age standards of single word names, two color costumes, and at least for Cyborg and Starfire, technological or scientific origins.

If you're overly fond of the golden and silver age, yes. I think we do need a term for the 80's to mid-90's. One that isn't quite so scornful. Modern is the one currently in use by the industry, but that only can really apply so far.
And Bold Statement.

Yeah, "modern" is dumb as a name for an age. And Rust only works as long as you keep the "back when I was young..." approach to the medium :P

How about "Nimboy"? Pun on Numbus and Nimble
Personally I'm tempted to create myself a youthful character called "The Coruscation Kid" or "Kid Coruscation"...
