Well, back on the original CoH.com forums (yes, once upon a time there were forums there that weren't crappy, and where your posts weren't buried before you can say "OMG STFU N00B.") Charon, Xanatos, Yin, Templar, The Green Knight, Rottweiler and Joe teamed up to stop a huge threat to superhero kind - a bill proposed to ban them entirely. Of course this was set pre-rikti war. After much beating down on military goons, this was acheived...

Anyway, this is Ultimate TeamUp II. Me and Yin have been discussing this for a few weeks, and most of the invites to those who'll be 'teaming up' on the next one have already been sent out, although I do need to talk to Yin about that breifly before we get going...

The basic premise for you is this... a few of Paragon City's finest are sent to liberate the inhabitants of another dimension, but they have to do it... as twelve year olds.

First post should be going up sometime soon. Enjoy!

-Charon.

Invitations have been sent. One (Sable Phoenix) might not be able to participate.

The list consists of:

Xanatos
Charon
Frost Sampson
The Widowed
Yin

It is subject to change as we're short handed at the moment. The last of the invitations will be sent out once Charon and I discuss this again soon over AIM.

I'm not crazy about the idea but good luck to you guys.

One suggestion.

Why are you using the same characters from Ultimate team up number one?

It would be more interesting, in my opinion, if you're going to do sequals to these, that you use a different team of characters each time. This is seeming like you feel only those characters can be the "ultimate" ones. I mean if you still wanna be in it and all, you can use another character. But are Charon, Xanatos, and Yin planning on being in every ultimate teamup till number 15?

Just my opinion and suggestion on the matter, cause if you guys turn this into a personal RP all the time, people wopn't come to read it much as it's more about your characters everytime and not just a great story that they might have a chance to be in next time.

Don't worry ND. We can start our own story called The UBer 1337 squad. 70s style MOD squad stuff. Picture Noble with an affro.

Hahaha affros would be neat.

But in fact, I wasn't dissing this at all and I wasn't even saying I wanted to be part of it.

I was just saying it would be neat if the Ultimate Teamup was a series. As this is number two, we can expect a 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.

And in this series, showcase different heroes each time, not the same ones over and over again. Like for instance, why don't Charon and Thresh GM them all since it's their baby, that way they are always involved, choosing which characters will be in it and not.

Like this Ultimate teamup could be Hollis, Sable Phoenix, Widowed, Frost Sampson, Poison, and King of Spades.

Next one, number three could be Alumette, Goldstar, Tarberetta, Dog Fight, Thundermace, 8-Ball, and Tarkenchi.

I dunno, it just seems more community involved than just picking your heroes and showcasing them all the time. Like I said before though. This is just a suggestion. It's your RP and do whatever you want. I just think something like this would be really successful. Heck if ya decide to stick with what you got, I may make something like this just cause I think it would be neat for the community. Good luck guys.

that sounds cool!

Good idea, ND. :)

Actually, we could have a number of these running at the same time. It just doesn't have to be one Ultimate RP run before the other. We could have up to two more running alongside each other at the same time. In a city as big as Paragon, there are tasks just as great in different parts of the city. There are more ideas that can be collaborated other then Charon and myself which allows others GM-rights to the other Ultimate RP. You can't say we completely carried over all of the characters though (though we were thinking about it). We had a huge list of people, and narrowed it down to adding Frost Sampson, Widowed, and Sable Phoenix, and Sable might not be able to participate which leaves room for another person.

We don't mean it to be so exclusive. It just so happens that the plot is so good that we want to be apart of it ourselves, but I completely understand where you are coming from. :) It's an excellent idea to make this a community project, and have a series of these to showcase all of the awesome heroes we have here at PC.com (or whatever we call ourselves). So if someone wants to take GM rights, and create an Ultimates III, you have my approval. :)

To kind of add onto what ND said, I think an idea like "Marvel Team-up" would be great given this community and the amount of great heroes we have. I'm not exactly sure how we could impliment it. Possibly have everyone volunteer one (limit it to one to keep from selecting too many people) hero then allow others to think up stories where these heroes would have to work together and solve the problem. I think it'd be a great way to work with heroes you normally wouldnt (like on another server or whatever other reason) and to help flesh out heroes who might not be as well known & stuff like that......just a suggestion.

Cool. I might start something up then. Won't be Ultimate teamup though. If this one is the same group as the last one it defeats the purpose of it. I'd want every one of them different groups.

RD and I will start brainstorming some ideas. Ciao ciao.

I remember on the old forums there was a roleplay story I would REALLY like to bring back here. It's nto like most roleplay stories.

The initial poster posted the situation; a group of supervillains had planted several bombs around Paragon, and they had gone off - kiling hundreds, and causing enough damage that heroes were needed to help out. (Quell fires, etc)

What made this story different is that there was no progressive storyline or GM. You wrote what yourhero did during the event, nothing else. You did this in 3 posts. (Or less - but once someone els had posted you couldn't).

Some people teamed up (which meant one person posted for two heroes/three heroes/a supergroup/etc with a maximum of 3 posts altogether), and the story was awesome. It had an almost (anti?)linear affect in that the story didn't progress - heroes just dealt with the catastrophy.

This is the most affective manner of doing a story with loads of participants. It really brings the community together, and feels bloody epic when it's finished.

There was a follow up thread where a few of the heroes caught the villains, and that gave the much needed closure. :bhump

I remember that. Yes, much fun.

I also remember a few attempts at doing massive GMed RPs. One being by the KoP, one by LoT, and one by the Cirlce of Twelve.

They were fun, but IO remember there were a few problems of "godding" characters, course I think with a bit of thought, we can fix and at least reduce that some.

I think something like that again would be neat with intensive organization.

It would actually be nice to have both types going as some like order, others like non linear chaos :)

Course there are some, like me, who needs a little of both.

I'm going to start an OOC RP event diiscussion thread so we don't clutter poor Charon's thread too much :)

Please, if you're interested in starting some thing up with me, lemme know there.

What a difference a change of forums can make. It seems like we're on the verge of a revitalization of the written RP in the community. I would very much like to take part in any forming events. My writing skills might be a little rusty but I'm sure it will come back to me.
