Or soon will be at least.

As some of you may know, I stopped playing CoH/CoV because my comp (crappy Dell OptiPlex GX270) could barely handle it. My subscription has stayed active (my bro has actually played a bit,) because I had always planned to return to the game when I received a new computer. That time is now.

In recent weeks, my parents have finally listened to me pleas for a higher-performance machine, and my request that I be able to build this new rig myself. My requests were all granted, and, this being a "family" computer, I received a pretty hefty budget.

Here are the parts that I've ordered and should receive over the next few weeks:

Mobo: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum ATX AMD Motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813130484)

HDD:Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16822144701)

PSU: Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 550W Power Supply (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817103931)

Keyboard: Saitek Black Wired Eclipse Keyboard (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16823175103)

Heatsink: Scythe SCNJ-1000 CPU Cooling Heatsink (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16835185122)

For those of you wondering why I listed no OS, Optical drive, thermal compound, etc., that's because I think they're rather obvious (Sony DVD-RW drive, Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound, Windows XP Home) and such. Anyways, for those of you who didn't understand anything I listed up there, let me just say this: it's going to be one beast of a system.

So, what'd I miss while I was gone? :p

We killed Tarckenchi with a poisoned RC car.

So you're our reigning youngster now.

Don't blow our underground crime ring's cover like Tarky did. >:]

Why do they need partners? What's wrong with one-on-one? :p

Because Nibbler did the unselfish thing and specced himself for Team PVP rather than solo PVP, playing to the strength of the team rather than the individual. The Wolfpac runs really well in pvp because of it.

You definately have my sympathies. We use the Dell Optiplex at work, we've had GX150's, now use GX260, GX270, GX280's, and will be moving over to GX520 (We lease them and do swap outs every quarter, which is why we have all the different models) and we all feel wholeheartedly the Optiplex line is ****.

Yes, that is a sweet motherboard. Both me and my friend went with that when we built our new systems last year. Did you go with the SLI model? I believe its only 40.00 more and you may want to consider using dual video cards later.

What does a Forge have to do with PvP? You use it to turn Salvage into more base goodies. That's pretty much it. O_o

ZOMFG NOOB...
Oh, look. It's another annoying abbreviation. So enlighten this "n00b" and tell me what that stands for. Zap Oh My Farkin' God? Zark Oh My Farkin' God? Zebra Oh My Farkin' God?

Yeah. So I guess the idea is to hold, sleep or confuse Istasi's feeble Corruptor before he can get Forge off, huh? So much for your invincible strategy. >:]

And I still want the other type of forge. My alts have enough magic salvage to stock a dozen occult shops. I need to cash in my garbage for some goodies, damn it.

Forge is basically a buildup that lasts for 45 seconds. Lok has his slotted with 3 acc giving me a 156% To hit buff. and + 75% damage. In fact, he can have it on me 2X for about 15 seconds. When you add in my fury and my buildup I am at the damage cap with Energy Transfer..... Good night.

*peers closely*

Yes, that's pretty impressive.

Do you know what else would be impressive?

If the other team had a Controller or a Dominator with Confuse.

Seeing as I don't see "defense against confusion" anywhere up there, wouldn't it be absolutely hilarious if if the Mind Controller waited for the Brute's entire team to build up this one-man killing machine only to slap a Confuse (slotted for duration) on him, hence foiling all of their hard work?

Yes, that would be absolutely hilarious. :chuckle:

Im pretty smart about it. Confuse doesnt do anything if there is only 1 target in the screen.

Actually, if you move your cursor into First person mode and the person buffing you stays behind, you can just follow and continue beating on that person, providing you are willing to keep clicking on them.

And Link doesn't buff me, he gets buffed too. Nib is the buffer/Scourgey finisher of the wounded.

Man, that's full of insults...First you call me a sycophant, then you call me useless, and you still have the audacity to call me a buffer! ;)

Our strategies happen to work quite well as a trio, though.

I didn't go with the SLI version for a few reasons 1) I'm using an ATi video card (it's actually the second best performing card on the market, only the X1900XTX is faster) and 2) It's more cost-effective (and faster) to have one good video card than two cheaper ones. Anyways, going to the X1900XT after a *shudder* GeForce MX440, well, let's just say, I can't wait.

Anyways, thanks for the warm welcome back (and the bickering over whether Forge is good or not :p) I can't wait to get back in-game.
