Just thought I'd put some info here in the first thread, so If people actually look here first, they'd know, rather than sift through the entire thread... It's cut and paste from a few pages down:
------------------Request Info---------------------
Ok, Just to clarify... I don't take requests. (if you don't want to read all this crap about me, skip down to the bold orange textdown below :) )
For those of you who haven't been around a while, I used to have a shop set up in the old influence mall (old forums), pre-beta and I created loads of megas for people... three things happened that were horrible.
1. I had a HUGE list of people who wanted megas and unlike Quakester, I was relatively slow at it and my list kept building, and i could only do so many a day.
2. I had a real life.. work, wife, and all that jazz.... ok well I still have those things. :chuckle:
3. CoH came out. End making Megas.
More recently, I have begun to draw a lot more again... partially to re-aquire the skills i have lost from being so inactive (after art school in the early 90's I haven't really drawn anything for a long time), and another part because I lurked myself back to the forums again and was inspired (again).
But anyways to make an already long story short, I never want to have the guilt of letting down a lot of people by promising them art they will never get, so I no longer take requests for anything... but let me say this... feel free to ask, and perhaps on a whim I'll draw something if I need a subject or I am "inspired" or I just feel like it... BUT NO GUARANTEES!!!
Hope that doesn't sound mean-spirited or anything, it's just I don't know if I'll have time in the future to do this, and as long time Forum residents know, I fade in and out of the forums months at a time. For now though, just enjoy the art and cross your fingers...

--------------------Original Thread Below---------------------
On occassion, between bouts of gaming, real life, and general procrastination I do draw a little. I used to be an avid artist but life happened and i only pick up my pencil every couple of months (yes, sad I know).
I asked Quakester to make a couple of megas for me, and since there is no influence anymore I felt that i should repay him somehow, so I sat down and doodled a little. So Quakester, if you pass by here, Thanks again for the cool Megas!

LOL What the cartoony style! For years i tried and tried to "draw the Marvel way" and I was actually an art major in College (before dropping out of art school, go figure, and going into Information Technology... O_o )
The cartoony style evolved from NOT being able to draw faces for the life of me :chuckle:
You can see some of my "real" art here (http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=2643).
The recent trend towards cartoony is cause i don't have the time to sit and draw in detail... the cartoons take less effort (and for some reason come out better! LOL  )

Yeah, your cartoony style. I am seriously looking for someone that can draw a comic I am writing. My friend runs a comic company, and wants to publish my book, I just need artwork for it. But, it's a cartoony, parody type of book, so it needs a cartoony style. I'm going to try my own hand at it, but I don't think I'm really up for doing a whole comic (my style isn't really good for it).

Back in the "speculation" and "pre-beta" days, there were a LOT of really creative and inventive heroes and supergroups created. Some exist today in CoH, others never managed to get into the retail game, groups broke up or players went their own ways. Just the sheer amount of characters and ideas flowing out of the old CoH forums was amazing.
One group in particular that I LOVED to death, and was really bummered out when they decided to call it quits, I first read about in the Paragon Beholder, then later on in the main forums, was the WILD 5. :) While some of the players are still around, but most of their characters alas, are not around any more, except for one of my favourites, Babe, the Blue Ox!
I have always loved this character design and concept, so i figured i'd take a shot at my interpretation of her.

finally! Thanks
Actually I am practicing a lot mostly to get used to using the Wacom Tablet, since I paid good money for it, I figured I should use it once in a while... My old method (like how i drew your Kinetix pic way back) was pencil sketch, ink, scanner, cleanup, color...
Except for the Quakester, Hollis, and Tarkenchi all the rest have been done 100% on my computer... no pencils except for some basicgesture studies to get the poses right. No scanning. Wacom to "pencil", fade the "pencil" layer to 40% and ink on a new layer, then color. I think the greatest timesaver is not having to do the cleanup for the inks... Plus I realized i really SUCK at inking in real life... :chuckle: and my inks actually look better the more I get accustomed to the Wacom pen.
If you look at my gallery (http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=2643) you'll notice the cartoony stuff I've been doing isn't "normal" LOL i was just lazy and doing Wacom Practice. That and cartoon faces are so much easier to draw than "realistic" faces. :)
Ok back to drawing... and thanks again for the compliments!

Thanks everyone for the understanding... (especially you Afterglow.... since you and King of Spades were the next on my list, and both of you had multiple requests at that!! :chuckle: )
I do draw on a whim though, and I do sometimes scour the forums and Crey for fun things to draw... so the potential for me drawing a character usually is based on how much art/screenshots/micros or whatever that I can find... and if you have a cool character (hehe, my bias there I guess).
Inkblaster: hehe, I like the tattoo too... always makes me giggle... along with the "Dragon Warrior" slime on Hollis' hat... who always sort of reminded me of Amoeba Man :p

Thanks for the compliments, Charon was pretty fun to draw, although originally he was just a sketch, and I wasn't sure who he would turn out to be... So I scoured the forums and Crey til i found someone who had enough art and looked the part... I actually considered Rottweiler, but was unsure of what he "really" looked like... LOL
Maveric: Glad you enjoyed my art. Some of that stuff is pretty old... I believe from the early 90's when i was in college and procrastinating classes. :) Cratermaker was originally named "Heat", but as there was no way I'd ever get that in game, I switched his name to Cratermaker, (who off chance was the name of a Villain in "my" super hero world. Jury was a character created based on my roomate in college :)

Bad news: I deleted Clobberin'Claus some time ago, and I didn't feel like recreating him.
Good news: I have his replacement...the Carboydrate!

Here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v114/Rehven/Portfolio/Kinetix01.png) you go Kin.
Sorry, I can't take any payments in the same way i can't take requests... :p It'd be sort of like saying i take bribery... then i'd be in the same situation as if i had taken a request! ...although with Veikira visiting the thread... >:]
Troublewolf: Don't ever stop drawing... it's how anyone gets from crappy to really good. When i began drawing i started off with copying pictures out of the "Marvel Universe", then as i drew more i began do do things without needing to copy, and slowly over the years i began to understand and observe the human body better and better, til i am where i am today (actually i was where i was in the mid 90's... then now i am trying to work my way back to my late 90's skills LOL! ). I'm glad i inspired you a little, hopefully you can continue to be inspired and keep on drawing!

How about this. Humor is a corporate spokesman, so how about he did the commercial that convinced Carb to try the Atkins Diet?

Sounds good to me! Either that or he did commercials for the experimental diet pill which turned out to be non-Atkins compatible.... :)
And so the blame is passed. As a result, the Carbohydrate is out to put Humor on a diet of pain! Muhuhuhahahaha! :D

Wow, I've been sunk to page 2!! :p
(Guess that means I should post something)
Ok... quick disclaimer:
When i draw, i usually sketch out a little gesture drawing, then slowly build it out from there... from the pose and position I then decide who the sketch would look sort of like, and buildout the details from there... (perhaps thats why you see less Humongous sized heroes... cause i don't really think in terms of huge people).
Anyways, this last sketch was seemed very Rottweiler-like, so i started detailing the sketch. When i came here to check on the colors and details of Rottie's costume lo-and-behold!! NO wonder it looks like Rottie!!! He's in almost the same pose as the Timm of Rottie!! <sigh>
Well either way here is Rottweiler (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v114/Rehven/Portfolio/Rottie.png) .
(funny, between my 2 computers the colors are totally different... Oh well... me thinks i need to calibrate my monitors...)

Man this forum moves fast!
anyways, I'll be headed out of town for a couple weeks, but I wanted to bump my thread up a little, so I thought I'd add a black and white piece that I have yet to color of Dynamo-man (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v114/Rehven/Artwork/Dynamo_BW.png).
I was partially done coloring it, but I couldn't find a good background for him, and the more I look at it, the more it looks like DM really has to go to the bathroom... <sigh> Sorry, DM... It was supposed to look all dramatic/heroic. :chuckle:
Oh well... More art in a couple weeks! Wish me safe travels to Hong Kong!

:chuckle:
I figured I'd just ressurect my thread instead of making a new one... I don't draw enough to warrant a new thread I figure. ;)
Anyways, the Image Ink section of Guru has always been my favourite, as well as one of the reasons I can never stay away from Guru.com for long... I love to see the fantabulous artists here, and the art whores never ever seem to go away. As you may know, I am a dabbler in the arts (if you call dropping out of art school dabbling), and as much as I should practice my skills all the time, I tend to be more of an occasional artist... So this is my occasional month it seems.
Inspired by the infusion of new art recently, and the cool "how to series" from Poison and Veikira, I sat down once again and clicked PSP8 instead of a game... and viola! (http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=106874&GSub=3753)
OK. That's my artistic contribution for the day... hopefully I'll get another done in less than 4 months this time

Oh, don't feel too bad about long delays. I still kick myself for not making any progress on the CoH Tarot. Thought processes relating to art mostly stem from the right half of the brain...which also happens to be the half of the brain responsible for emotions. So it would appear that art and emotion are more closely connected than many people think. Simply put, you just have to be in the right mood.
We'll wait, Lawmaker. These things can't be rushed. :)

You get so much movement in your drawings, and that's very nice.
I really liked the lady's costume on your gallery, forgot the name, but she had the M that worked into lines on her costume.
And the recent one you posted has some nice tones in the shading.

Whew... Ok So i drew this picture for my Hero Corps Profile the other day... and the more and more i looked at it, I kept saying to myself... "there's just something no right about this picture, but i just can't put my finger on what it is..."
Well, i finally discovered that what looked funny was her head was too big! My wife came in and said she looked like one of those "diva" dolls witht he huge heads! ... so I went back, deleted my color and shadows layers, and from the inks, I dismantled her body and enlarged it 10% bigger. :chuckle: Then I spent had to re-color it again!
Anyways, here's the pic: Maze (http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=113783&GSub=3735)
Funny thing is, the picture is for my Hero Corp Profile picture, and is nothing more than the head anyways!!! LOL. oh well.

It's that time of year again... not the Cadberry bunny, but the time i revive my thread from the depths of the archives... :chuckle:
Due to the recent Bombardment of pinups and commissioned art, I have been once again inspired to try my hand at making some art. I still suck at coloring, but at least this time she looks a tad more natural... Funny how things change from sketch to final product.... This is the first pic that i have done in a while where i really like the final more than my sketch!
Anyhooz. another (better) picture of my Dominator, Maze:

I'll have to make a version for my Hero Corp File (http://www.herocorps.com/vdb/?i=123) to replace the crappy one that's there now. :) Well... it's not crappy, but the more and more I look at it the more strange it looks... Dunno why... heh.

Glad you like it. I used the pics from your website (err... a few months ago) for references, henceforth the gloves and mask were based off your drawings.

an older doodle of Lawmakers reminded me of this satire...please its not real RP just thought i would be funny...then again I'm not quite right....Quoted mostly from the original Superman script))
238 INT. SK's SWO COMPOUND - DAY
The screen becomes blank again. SK turns.
SK
Check the viewing room, Intern...
(turns back)
Well, Walker? What do you think?
Interesting?
18/4/77 TM
238 CONTINUED
WALKER:
Your theory's quite impressive, SK.
But as for the rest - it's nothing but a sick
fantasy.
SK:
(thin smile)
Fantasy?...
(exploding)
History!! It's happened, Detective!
WALKER rises quickly, eyes widening, as SK wheels maniacally to another intern standing in the doorway to the viewing room.
SK
Where's that rocket now?
FEMALE INTERN
(glances back)
Passing the Grand Canyon, Mr. President. Going like a bat.
So's the other one.
WALKER
(in disbelief)
The other one! There's two of them?
SK
That's right, Walker. Double jeopardy! And even
you can't fly fast enough to stop both of them!
(sly grin)
While I, on the other hand would merely have to
press my detonating device and ...
WALKER leaps at SK, grabs him by the neck.
WALKER
Where is it, KAIN! Where's that detonator?
WALKER scans the room with his X-Ray vision, suddenly stops as he sees the lead
Trunk he's been sitting on.
238 CONTINUED
WALKER
You diseased maniac! Did you really think you
could hide it from me by encasing it in lead?
WALKER drops SK in a pile on the floor. He crosses quickly to the trunk, tosses the cushions aside.
WALKER
(ripping it open)
I'll mold this box into your prison bars, you...
WALKER stops suddenly, recoils, stunned, a dim green light ref1ecting of his face.
238A INSERT SHOT - TIE BOX
The glow form the tie box exumes, there are doznes of multicolored neckties.
238B BACK TO SCENE
WALKER is instantly immobilized, his strength waning, his knees getting wobbly.
WALKER
That ties... I can-t... my strength..
SK advances, bursting with glee.
SK
They are neckties Walker! A little souvenir from
your old insurace selling days! You see I've spared no expense
in making you feel right at home here!
SK pulls a tie out of the box and dangles it in front of him. WALKER
desperately tries to raise his arm to shield himself from the rays.
WALKER
Away... please... take it...
18/4/77 TM
238B CONTINUED
SK loops the tie around WALKER'S neck, pulls the staggering, helpless Man of Steel after him like a dog on a leash.
SK
You were great in your day, Stan Walker. But
When the time came to cash in your chips, Sebastion Kain was just naturally your banker! Mind...
SK stops, puts his two litte fingers on each of WALKER'S shoulders, pushes him down to his knees.
SK
