Just looking for opinions. I find myself not wanting to play much of COH at the moment, considering loading up SWG, I have just the JTL expansion.

I have a new system since last I played so it may not be so laggy. Just curious on the new setup, anyone played it recently? Any feedback? Good bad?

I had a master artisan working on being a shipwright/droid I believe. As a 'veteran', I think I'll get an option to try all the new fields. I also had one of them fancy ships like Lando had, which was good as I could put stuff in it and not have to worry about rent.

During my very brief playing of SWG, it was during the old system. The old system was bunk, but I bet they found a way to make it worse!

Okay. I've played all 3 systems.

First we have: Pre-CU (Release-May 2005)
Pre-CU: Buggy, unbalanced to melee/jedi. (But still very fun in my point of view)
9/10

Then we have CU (May 2005-November 2005)
CU: Made Ranged more powerful in PVP/PVE by giving them little effects like Root. Jedi still attainable, but Padawan is highest ranking able to be gotten. Armor is unwearable to Jedi and Teras Kasi. Level system introduced. (Fun after a while, Pre-CU slightly better)
8/10

And we have NGE (November 2005- )
NGE: New targeting system (Psuedo-FPS), New control scheme, removal of all proffesions, addition of 9 'iconic' proffesions, XP only attainable thru quests (thus requiring you to buy Rage of the Wookiees and Trials of Obi-Wan to level character up) ((XP still attainable thru monster kills, but HEAVILY nerfed)). BIG changes that make no sense.
1/10

There you have it.

I've been subscribed for over a year, only took a 3 month break once. NGE made me quit permanently.

((Note: Slight upside, I guess. You can be jedi from start now. If you always wanted to do that.))

Hmm, cruds, I was hoping with the new system you still could keep your skills and such, and solo how you want. I liked the game before it was just too laggy on my old system.

I could however, leave a character logged on all day(um..., rp'ing yeah..that's it), without a single disconnect. Unlike some <ahem> other games where I get discon'd every half hour or so.

Some games frown upon unattended macroing...not that there's much you could do in CoH/CoV, but that's generally the logic for a half hour of "inactivity" disconnect...

This isn't inactivity discons, this is, I'm in the middle of a battle in a team, and get disco'd. Happens all the time, part of my reason for not wanting to play much lately. Just when I get a team is when the server starts getting busy, and when that happens, I start dropping.

I can play all Sat or Sun morning no issues, it's just when the server gets busy so I know it's not me. Well, that and that I can stay online on other MMOs for hours without the same issue. ;)

The funny thing about SWG is that those who loved the old system now hate it, and those who hated the old system now love it. In general, all they did was swap one fanbase for another.

Pretty much Winged.

It's now very console friendly and is essentially a shooter.

I reactivated to try out the NGE, it just wasn't the game I used to love.

I got it for Christmas had have found it extremly frustrating.

Now, I've wanted this game for over a year but only for space combat. The little I've played of the "main game" is that it is a bit fast pased. Really though I just point my rectile at the bad guy, click as fast as I can, and that's called firing my blaster. The main starting area is extremely laggy. Don't even think of going down stairs to the lower level or you will be stuck for hours (not a joke).

As for the space combat, I'm rather bummed. I haven't logged back on in three weeks which has to say something. The key mapping is horrible and finding what you need will take for ever. The tutorial tells you little to nothing and changing the key mapping is even more a pain. I spent what, 30 mins trying to dock with a ship cause I couldn't figure it out. And this is coming from some who played Tie Fighter (arguably 10 years ago but still).

I have thoughts in the back of my mind of sticking with it. I really want to see if the space combat goes any where. Dunno if I will or not.

Quick tip Graphite, just click n hold your button to fire. That goes for both space and ground based portions of the game.

Took me awhile to figure that out.

As a player for one year from SWG launch, I will happily tell you:
