View Full Version : Is Your Character A 'Good Guy' or 'Bad A**'?

Sebastian Kain

Alright hehe another thread inspired by what I observe. Enlight of the Real World & Road Rules Inferno 2 (Good Guys vs. Bad Asses), I was wondering what it would be like for our characters or ourselves to have a VS. mode of sorts. Not literally though, (I don't like arena that much.) But maybe just a topic to talk about. Now I don't mean Good vs. Evil and that such..

but do you consider your character an on edge type of guy or gal who can get dirty with the best of them.

or

A true blue goody goody that can't stop helping old ladies (and I mean old) cross the street or kissing babies or puppies or whatever it makes your day.

For example, PresidentSK is pretty much a Bad Ass. He's a good guy for the most part, but he's an arrogant, mildy corrupt, politican that goes after whatever he wants in life. By force if necessary. He stomps on his competion and he'll do whatever it takes to see that he's on top of any situation. No matter what the cost is, even if it means endangering someone else. But having an ancient demon residing in his body doesn't help his 'good' guy image as well. ;)

Either way have fun with this one too.

Total Bad Ass. I see Wolf as the "CT" of these boards (he's always been my favorite Real World/Road Rules guy). He's out for himself first and foremost-- after all, he came to Paragon City for anger management, not to be a hero-- but he's not a complete jerk; he can get along and "play nice" when he needs to.

CT kicks ass...I so think Mike is overrated.. :P

Sabbath is bad ass. He's a hunter, rocker, moody and doesn't take a piss from anyone.

Poison is somewhat of a good guy. He wants to be good and behave like a hero, but since his original training was that of an assassin, he doesn't always play "fair". But he's trying really hard to be a good hero and not kill.

Tarberetta
05-04-2005, 03:37 PM
Tarby's a good girl, but definately not afraid to break a few rules (and skulls). Accidents happen when you're main weapon is a broadsword, you know >:]

:tarby:

Nyx
05-04-2005, 03:55 PM
Nyx is both, as she has a case of split personality disorder. Her natural personality is good girl, for the most part, but her assumed personality is an ice cold, hard as nails bad girl who really doesn't care who she kills this week.

Seth is more of a bad @ss, but I think some part of him wants to be good.

Mischief is whatever the heck he feels like being at this particular moment in time. Literally. He's been instigator, saviour, companion, treasonist, entertainer, and murderer all in one package.

Major: Bad ass

Nurse Red Cross: Good girl

Dr. Flamestrike: Good guy

Miss Judgement: Bad ass

Atse'Hashke: Bad ass

Brimstonia: Undecided

Muscular Beaver: Good Guy

Krystal Power: Undecided

Noble
05-04-2005, 04:03 PM
Noble is a pansy kinda good guy. He hates violence but he will help with any other kind of good deed eagerly. He only fights if circumstance leaves him no other choice.

Countryman is no hero. Nor does he try to be. He never nice to anyone, even if they held his life in their hands he would do everything in his power to make sure they went down with him. He uses his immense raw physical strength and intimidating size to gain what ever is needed to meet his objectives. A cold hearted soldier describes him best. He has no cares or concern about people being injured as a result of his actions. Nor does he worry about structural damage to an buildings around him. He may as well be evil, except he works for the US government. Because of that, his true alignment and alliegence is often debateable.

Dynamo-Man
05-04-2005, 04:14 PM
Dynamo-Man is a Good Guy trapped in a Bad-a$$ body. :D For the most part he's a stand up guy, who helps anyone who needs it, but he is a bit arrogent, and can be pretty conceited. He is also overconfident, which gets him into no end of trouble (along with those who travel and fight alongside him).

Don't worry about it, Xan. Textbooks in America are about as grounded in fact as Lord of the Rings.

Jade_Dragon
05-04-2005, 05:52 PM
Jade Dragon - an extremely Good Guy. He's very much a heroic character, out to "use his powers for the good of all mankind", although he's by no means infallable. He takes his responsibility very seriously, though, and is a firm believer in right and wrong.

Blue Diamond - acts like a Bad Ass, but deep down he's really a Good Guy. B.D. is actually extremely insecure, and covers it up by acting tough and self-centered. On the surface, it would seem that he doesn't care who he hurts, but underneath, he has a moral code and a sense of wrong and right that is even deeper and more defined than J.D.'s. Right is right, and wrong is wrong, and everything is that black and white to him. He might beat the stuffing out of a bad guy, but he would never kill.

Bloodwolf - definately a Bad Ass. One of the most recent Crey updates tells about a Crey agent who FINALLY got a picture of him. After Bloodwolf caught up with him, he beat him until his back was broken, and then prevented the agent from teleporting to the hospital while he beat on him some more. Bloodwolf can be VERY violent, especially when taking down someone he sees as "in power". (And in protecting his identity, as noted) He won't kill, but he has no problems with making you WISH you were dead...

Sandy - a very, very, very, very Good Girl. In fact, Sandy hates fighting, and she would probably be called a "wimp" just from the way she acts when confronted. She is very insecure, and often lets other people take charge or make demands of her. However, her machine half is programmed for combat, so it forces her to fight. Even it isn't "good" or "bad", though, it is simply trying to fulfill its purpose. Because of her conflicting sides, Sandy can get defensive, and even erupt unexpectedly with anger, but deep down she's just trying to be good.

Charon

I defy you to name a more important even in history as when George W Bush destroyed the One Ring by dropping it into Mordor from the cockpit of his F-4 phantom. (This is why he could not go to Vietnam)

I find that the true badass rarely talks about what a badass he is.

Masked Revenger
05-04-2005, 06:03 PM
Masked Revenger: Good Guy who doesn't mind braking the rules now and then. Think Daredevil.

Captain Noble: Defenatly a good guy. A true blue boy scout, help old ladies across the street kind of good guy.

Bonestrike: Bad ass all the way. Her whole purpose is to get revenge on those who killed her.

Jr. Statesman: Goes without saying, good guy. He tries hard to be just like his namesake.

Beat Poet: Hmm... good guy only because he's not a bad ass. Anti-establishment, beat nick, but I wouldn't say boy scout. Does liberal count? :P

Sidekick-Boy: Gosh, Hero Man, I'm defeantily a good guy! Why would anyone want to be different?

Xaiolin Cowboy: A good guy masquerading as a bad ass. He does what he does because he believes the strong shuld protect the weak, but has no problem bring the smack down on those trying to prey on the weak.

Back when she used to do freelance assassin work, which she doesnt' anymore, she was between 24 and 28 years old. On the older end of that range, 27-28, she was more experienced, ruthless, and messed. Still is. Or something.

Necrosys
05-04-2005, 09:51 PM
Comet Woman: She's a good guy, but a bitch when she wants to be... though she's softening... alot... husbands and children do that to you. :P

Black Thistle: She's somewhere in the middle. On one hand she's a warrior, and believes in a fair fight, and not kicking a man while he's down; but on the other hand, her job on Earth is to prove herself worthy to become Queen of her race, and she's willing to do anything and tread on anyone to achieve that. :chuckle:

Volcanic Girl: Well here's the brownie handing out cookies if ever there was one. A pure Golden Age-themed Character. She'll help the old lady across the street before laying the beat down on Mr. Skull over there. ;)

Empyreal = good to a point. Your name better not be Crey or Rikti though.

Nexus Ar'gos = good guy but will bend the rules especially if an incident can be prevented.

Mr. Regal = good guy. He is rather aloof in his hero persona and looks down a bit on humans. Very much the boy scout.

Smacks = good guy. He is a cop but will go the distance if the rules require some bending.

Kid Atomic. = good guy. Of course I'm good wouldn't be a member of Galact-o-Force and protecting the universe if I wasn't. Right Galactic Guy?

Scott Miracle = good guy. Look behind the obnoxious outfit to a heart of gold but he's quite a bit of a thrill seeker.

Vesper Sparrow = good guy disguised as a bad ass. (though some seem to think he's a hottie). Grim avenger of the night he's only become more dark since his mentor was killed in the Rikti War. Wages a never ending war on crime in the back alleys of the city.

Dusty Allen = good guy with a rather pulp style way of dealing with things the exception being Suede :*

Relationship? :lmao: Before she turned assassin, she had a boyfriend. After she turned good guy again, she was quickly snatched up and married by Ragnarok. While she was an assassin, she would have sooner eviscerated than dated anyone. She had no heart, and didn't care to be reminded of the fact.

She would have taken a particularly lucrative job, though.

Stalking Shadow
05-04-2005, 11:17 PM
Stalking Shadow: Reformed badass. He draws heavily on his reputation as a coldhearted killer, but when he's out of the combat suit, he tends to be a very nice guy, psychoses aside.

Chill-Out

Chill is a total good guy at heart. Though sometimes he tends to be a smarta$$

the_starcrosser

Suede: a good @ss? ;) Not entirely sure, she's definitely on the good side, but she's a smart alec and generally not very mature. She thinks she's all baddarse, and she may complain about helping the old lady across the street, but she's good at heart.

Highcard: Good girl turned thief turned good girl again. However, she has no qualms about beating the snot out of anyone who tries to hurt her, anyone she cares about, or any helpless person. Or, making them beat the snot out of themselves, more often than not...

Battleflag: total boy-scout, just don't tell HIM that. More like "irate tech support guy going medieval on evil". He's a little bit tougher around the edges than he seems, but still has a heart of gold.

Rubicon: Total badd@ss, though still good. Very much a protector of the helpless, but she's a near-emotionless fighting machine when she flips the internal "kill-switch". I think she may try to incapacitate more often than kill, but she's not afraid to use lethal force.

(i'll stop here. too many alts. ;) )

And now for a few alts: (some alts delvelop personalities of their own, weather I play them alot or not)

Ximara- A good girl to the core. A volunteer at the Hospital.
Screamin' Mimi- Forced by a magical binding into doing good. Would rather cause mischief, mayhem and general chaos.
Dark Valentine- not evil but bad in a not-right-in-the-head kinda way.
Saphire Sparrow- A good girl, repectful and honest.
Fallin' Star- naughty rock star girl but on the right side of the law... usually.
DeVoure- bad, bad, bad
SugarPlum Fairy- Tries to do good.
Wonkey- (though I don't play him lately) Boyscout good. Uses crosswalks, extreamly polite.... sickeningly good.

Dione - Dee's a good guy for the most part, but like all women can be a big badass. She doesn't put up with ****, so i guess you could call her more of a hard ass than a bad ass.

Moon - Since she is Dione working on herself on the natural side of things with her battle axe and defenses, she above.

Thora - a True badass. She think's she a goddess that has been sent to earth to prove that she's better than mortals. I haven't descided if she's crazy or really a goddess. lol

ok, here's a listing

Akamaz = Badass to the core.

Jubei Wasabi = Badass

Agent Q. = Good Guy

Ria Silvers Good Guy

L0rrd D4rk1tty = t3h 00b4h k3w1 b4d455 8107[l-l

Mikoto = Good Girl but with some berserker tendancies (it makes me wish Rage was a pool power)

The Widowed
05-08-2005, 08:19 AM
Let's see....

The Widowed: Bad-Ass. Angry, vindictive, bitter, and pre-emptively protective at times ("If I hurt you now, you won't be able to hurt anyone later..."). Possessed of a mean-spirited sense of dark humor (which tends to evoke chuckles from teammates). On the other hand, she'll die before she lets an innocent get killed...which may or may not contribute to her bad-assery, come to think of it.

Eve Mk.III: Goody-goody. Like Robocop or the "good guy" Terminator, she's programmed chiefly to shoot to wound or incapacitate people, and will kill only as a last resort (robots, ghosts, demons and such are fair game for more lethal measures). Knees, forearms, hands and certain tendons or muscle groups are her preferred targets, moving up to the lower spine for more more extreme circumstances.

Bloodywedd: Friggin' monster...and my way of slapping Lord Dark Darkitty Dark of Darkness in the face. Unlike so many other villain-in-hero's-clothing types, I don't intend for Bloodywedd to manifest her evil by being a horned, black-skinned, fiery demonoid. She simply dresses like a cross between a mime and a torture-happy dominatrix, says all the wrong things, does all the wrong acts, chooses all the wrong responses and feels no shame or remorse for any of it. She doesn't say "I shall toast your soul in eternal torment as Lord Lucifer bids," she says "Your skin has a very lovely tone and consistency. I imagine it will cover my copy of Atlas Shrugged most beautifully." You don't need to be straight from Hell to be a convicted villain; Some bad wiring in your brain will do quite nicely.

The Whippoorwill: Goody-goody, mostly due to her youth and naiveté. That may or may not change as she gets older, follows the Widowed's example and witnesses more and more acts of man's inhumanity to man.

Blue Valkyrie: Goody-goody. She kills, but at least she's noble and honorable about it. Enemies who beg for mercy are spared, and a challenge to a fair fight is always accepted.

Super Gardvord: Middle-of-the-road. A recovering Superadyne addict, he has developed a nasty sugar addiction instead. Now he's cheerfully oblivious to all but the most grim of atmospheres. He fights for the joy of fighting, and beats people up for the sole purpose of bragging rights. But he does get pretty vicious if he actually loses or gets badly wounded, as the Superadyne-damaged portions of his brain fire to life....

Jubei El Draco: Goody-goody, with the odd bad-ass tendency. The foundation for his very existence is the comedic "ninja vs. pirate" debate. Neither a Hero nor a Villain, he makes his own way through the world and plays by his own rules. He's a dandy, a gentleman and a lovable rogue. And he says all kinds of wacky, piratey, ninjaey things. Sure, he'll stab you in the back, tie you up and toss you to the sharks if he decides he doesn't like you, but come on...what's a little shark-feeding among friends? :D

Orb Spider: Bad-ass.

Catloaf: Goody-goody.

Miss Sulfurious: Bad-ass.

That's it for now. :D

Rottweiler
05-08-2005, 01:43 PM
Rottweiler: Wishes he could be a good guy but regrests that its necessary to be a bad@ss. In any other situation than combat, he's a good guy, though. His reputation on the streets, unfortunately, is built on his action in combat.

Mother Mercy: Good gal. Definitely.

Hellion: Unquestionably the most baddest of @sses. God bless him. :shinner:

Galactic Guy: As good as Hellion is bad... I'd be hard-pressed to find someone good..er.O_o

X'Rae: Good gal.

Rumble Bee: Good guy despite his trying to be a bad@ss. Girls just chuckle and pinch him and stuff. Yuck. Girls.

Tasadin: I like the fact that even I don't have Tas pegged yet. I'm tempted to make him 'take the plunge' as it were and join Malice in Wonderland... but for now he's just egotistical, self-absorbed, and a bit power-hungry.

Impact
05-08-2005, 02:23 PM
Heh...most of these guys are dead giveaways...

Frost Sampson - Obviously a good guy. In his younger days (as seen once I get around to writing his origin...) he could be more of a bad a**, but every once in a blue moon that side pops up....

Azure Specter - Probably more of a smart a** than a bad a**, although he can definately play both parts easily, he's got a good heart though.

Sterling Saber - He's somewhere in the middle between the extremes known as Frost & Azure. Usually he's the good guy but sometimes (more and more lately) he's been pulling the bad a** card.

Doctor Blight - More of a good guy than anything else.....but don't cross him or you'll end up with more than enough radiation to keep you glowing in the dark. ;)

Eternal Bane - An recently resurrected/undead warrior. Definately has high bad a** potential

Sonic: Former Bad A**, Currently a goody two-shoes. Being bad is kind of a pre-requisite for assasinating people for a living. Howver, he now fights to redeem himself, and tries to be the best hero he can be in the process.

Oscar Ohms (OmegaMan): Boyscout.

Jude Justice: Badass masquerading as a goodguy. Sure he's a hip and happening peacenik but he's also a trained assassin and former spy.

Krypto
08-23-2005, 10:09 PM
Krypto's an arrogant rich boy who's the CEO of the Infinity Corporation, originally started by his father.(well, relatively speaking...the man who found his ship. :P)
The company started out as a cryogenics company, and later started delving into all sorts of projects including high-tech armors, advanced weaponry, and a secret project dubbed the "Infinity Serum".

Needless to say, as I'm sure you've all noticed, Krypto's always trying to hit on the ladies.

The story behind Krypto has always sort of been a "Superman meets Lex Luthor" kinda deal. He's a good guy overall, but very much the opposite of the big blue boyscout.

Half Life

Silent Tempest: Young, relatively innocent, with a strong moral compas, a lean mean fighting machine when the situation calls for it. Usually he tries to be calm and levelheaded (even if it comes out as naive at times), but can also freak out every now and then. In his head, hes a real badass, but his actions dont always make it apparent.

Black Moth: Retired government assassin, a rugged, insesitive badass. He used to be a psychologist, but his work for the country got him a little rough on the edges. He doesnt care too much. He fights crime because he had nothing better to do. He doesnt give a damn if he kills a criminal or not, as long as it doesnt put him in prison. An innocent person, he wont touch, but he wont always go out of his way to save that person either.
In fact, hes so badass, he uses his sheer negative thoughts as a weapon (dark/dark defender). :p

Citizen.dll: Neither. The stakes arent high enough for him. He knows its just a game and all he does is playing along with others.

Cryo/Kryo I don't know, both and neither I guess. They can both be heartless as well as kind, yes Kryo has a soft side, good luck finding it though. In general Kryo would be a Badass and Cryo would be neutral

Amicitia She is a good girl for the most part just a little spoiled and used to getting her way

Heavenly Light, she is a good girl

Think Quick She is good to everyone except Frost and the people around him.

Mary O'Knickers is a good girl, even if she enjoys placing the odd fool into an embarassing situation or a naughty practical joke.... :D

Mr. Zer0 is both. When not cracking skulls he's a wise ass skirt chaser. When he's on a mission or fighting he's all business. Really the two words to describe this half-pint hero is: Loose Cannon.

Nyx

Ahh. Well whenever your ready, (I know your about to graduate congradulations on that ;) ) I'm more than willingly to collabo a storyline or relationship between her and the Prez.

Just let me know whenever.

SK:sk:

By the way, now that I'm graduated and fairly stable for the moment, I've been pondering revisiting Nyx's bad @ss side...

Hmmm... cold-blooded killer for hire, with a total lack of emotion save for the occassional burst of wrath or a smirk of something that you might be able to confuse for a sardonic sense of humor... and yet a twisted sense of justice too... she'll kill anyone for the right price, but they have to be guilty... she won't take a contract on an innocent person, and anyone who tries to hire her for such a job will probably be the one she starts hunting.

Hehee. Of course, she's turned hero now. Uses non-lethal methods. Works a respectable job, married, two kids.

I think it'd be interesting to see a Story involving Nyx with another's crossover character.

Enlightened One

The Enlightened One / The Sixth Myo-O: Dualism here. When he's looking human, very good guy, role model for kids, etc. When in his full fiery inhuman regalia, or even just his body armor... I need to get the presence pool for Fear. Nuff said there, I think.
