LOL... I love the movie, it's up in the ranks with 'Tommy' for craziest movies with rock acts.

David Bowie is a band? Did you count the goblins from Labyrinth? :P

Are you going to tell them they can't be in the band?

Constantly changing list, but currently:

1. ?
2. Faraquet. Math rock band. Lots of guitars, changing rhythms, melodies and soulful (maybe borderline emo) singing.
3. Hunters and Collectors. Aussie 80's rock band. They should have been as big in the States as they were Down Under, but for some reason it never happened.
4. Death Cab for Cutie/Postal Service. Lyrically impeccable.
5. Whiskeytown. Best country band ever (not including solo artists, or bluegrass)
6. Old 97's. Fun country, driving rhythms and lyrics that will make you lol. Or lyrics that will get your girlfriend naked. Either way is pretty good.
7. Splitlip Rayfield. They used to be a punk band. Then they realized they lived in Kansas. So they became a country band. Really, not much has changed.
8. Superchunk. 90's indy band. Sort of a toned down Sonic Youth.
9. Lotion: another 90's indy band. Hard to say what they sound like. Pretty much straight melodic rock.
10. Alice in Chains: IMO, the best band out of the 90's, better than their more famous/successful contemporaries.

Couldn't limit myself to five and couldn't pick a fave. None of the country bands listed are "radio country" which means they don't sound a lick like Toby Keith or Alan Jackson (who I both like to some degree).

I wonder how the goblins would work out in a metal band. Did you see the mechanical contraptions they came up with? I bet they could invent electric drums or a self-playing keyboard made out of real bones or something.... :)
