Vinnie Jones Confirms X-Men 3

Vinnie Jones, who previously worked together with X-Men 3 director Matthew Vaughn on Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, has confirmed to the Leeds United website that he has joined the cast of the third installment.

"My football connections are well over now, I'm cracking on with filming and have just landed a few roles," he said. "I have X-Men 3 to film and that will take six months or so, so I think I might be a bit busy."

Jones was rumored to be in talks for the role of villain Juggernaut in X-Men 3. Vaughn previously told us that "what's interesting about Juggernaut is that he's the brother of Professor X, and that's why I thought it would be interesting having an English thug opposite Patrick Stewart."

For further confirmation, Vinnie Jones' official website says that he "is going to film X Men 3 in America in August, and 4 & 5 if they make them. He plays the character Juggernaut."

Jones has also starred in such films as Gone in Sixty Seconds and Eurotrip.

HAHAHAHA, excellent.

He's a terrible actor but he might just shape up in X3. I have a feeling America's oblivious to his massive notoriety over here.

Poor old Gazza.

I think Vinnie has the perfect "If you mess with me I will pick you apart like a small, tasty, roasted hen" attitude to pull off Marco.

Way to steal the credit from me, randomus ;-)

I'm looking forward to at least see how he looks before passing judgement.

I'm glad this worked out. I think Jones is a terrific choice.

"Gone in 60 Seconds" wasn't that great of a movie, but you had to love the part where Vinnie shows up to help out Nicolas Cage, someone takes a swing at him, and he blocks it with his HEAD! :chuckle:

Yeah, Juggernaut doesn't really require a good actor. Just an ugly one.

I haven't been impressed with a single casting decision made with regards to any of the X-Men movies, so this comes as no surprise.

Couldn't they afford Vin Diesel? :P

Old news, but still good ones. I like Vinnie as Marko.
He has a real thug face that hasn't been used too much yet.

I am eagerly awaiting your list of which actors and actresses YOU think should have been cast in the major roles. :p

Thank God you weren't serious about Vin Diesel. I might have had a violent breakdown if I didn't know you were joking!

And sorry Fate. I didn't know if you were planning to post it or not.

An entire CGI character would still look like crap, really. Remember Hulk? Yeah, I thought so. We just don't have the technology to make a decent-lookin' person on a computer yet.

It mentioned that he also is interested in possibly doing X-men 4 and 5. I have some trouble seeing how Juggy would be able to tie into the following story arcs since he always seems to be the kind you see show up for a big brawl then go off on his own tangent.

To clarify, I'd be quite content to share a warm swimming pool with Famke Janssen. I just don't see her playing Jean Grey opposite college-boy James Marsden.

I am well aware that film casting is an iffy business; especially where established characters are concerned. You have to find actors that will fit into the majority's preconceived image of the characters who are willing to do the project.

Casting too tall, not wide enough, too young, Australian Hugh Jackman as Logan was a farce. Try a 'lens-Hobbitized' Kurt Russell.

Patrick Stewart, as the American Professor X, doesn't cut it either. I don't care how skilled an actor he is. His accent spoils the illusion; not to mention his Star Trek type casting. There are many excellent actors that could have carried this off and, with the budget they have to blow on these flicks, I'm sure that they could have convinced one of them to shave his head.

Cyclops would have been more fun played by Brendan Fraser or, for that 'stick in the mud' effect, nobody beats Dylan McDermott.

Rogue: Rachel Leigh Cook, assuming that she could carry off the accent.

Storm: Iman (no question)

While I'll never contest the acting credentials of Sir Ian McKellen, my impression of Magneto is one of strength and charisma. McKellen does a terrific job as a villain of fallen stature, but I can't see him as ever having been a threat. Magneto, in my opinion, should have an overbearing presence. Ralf Moeller would have been a better casting choice.

The problem is that James Marsden physically resembles Scott Summers just a little too well. And despite how much I have the hots for Janssen, I agree they probably could have found someone more his age.

Storm: Iman (no question)The perfect casting choice for Storm still is, and always has been, Angela Bassett.

Bah, Vanessa Williams should've played Storm, she's the right age and Storm should have some vivid eyes like Vanessa does.

Well, I personally think that all of the casting has been wonderful. And I wouldn't change a thing. They needed Jean to be a little older so they could bridge the gap between Logan and Scott.

And Halle does a great job as Storm. She's a better actress then all of the other choices mentioned, IMHO.

And what the heck was so bad about the effects on The Hulk? I don't get that. I thought he looked awesome.

Meh, whatever. Everyone has differing opinions on everything I guess.

I never had a problem with the casting of Jean in the movies. I always thought she was a little older than Scott anyway.

But, then, YMMV.

Huh? Hugh Jackman was a good choice because he was unknown at the time, but he looks ALOT like Wolverene, except he is taller than Cyclops.

By the way, there are ALOT of cats back east that have a psuedo brit accent, happens alot in the new england area I guess.

Heh, can't believe I missed this before.

Iman (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0408081/) is actually 3 years older than Angela Bassett (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000291/). :p

As for not being "foreign" enough, bah I say. That's why they call it acting.

You really think they'll make 4 and 5? Seemed like they had to make a bargain with Lucifer to get some of these cast members back. I know I wouldn't quit. I'd love to be apart of a franchise like that.
