Dear Lord that's a few grand!

Good on ya :D

Anywho...

What's your favorite show?
Couldn't say. I like so many. Excel Saga, Record of Lodoss War, Sailor Moon (all iterations), Macross, MOSPEADA, Detonator Orguss, Boogiepop Phantom (my namesake), Knight Sabers (all sets), Urusei Yatsra, Yu-Yu Hakusho, Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, Card Captor Sakura, etc... Even some of the H stuff is enjoyable (F3, Magical Woman M, Isaku, Adventure Kid, Ogenki Clinic, etc...).

What show do you hate?
All dubbed ones. I can read! Gimme good voice acting dagnabbit!
Oh, and Dragon Ball... all of them, but mostly Z. I'd rather gargle shards of glass suspended in a sulphuric acid gel.

What are you watching right now?
None actually, I'm at work... I almost ordered the complete 1st season of Urusei Yatsura but went with Batman Beyond Season 1 and Teen Titans Season 1 instead :)

What shows are you looking foward too?
Anything subtitled honestly. I don't trust North American voice actors and editors :(

I agree 100%, I hate when the americans fug up the voices and names. they kill the anime. hence cartoon network sucks, because they take away from the gold that is anime. They need to sub title the anime they show on TV these days. These kids need to read more. I truly believe that. Theres nothing more fun then hearing the japanese actors put feeling into their characters. Unlike the americans who just read from the papers they are given.

I distinctly remember a thread with this exact name back on the old :symbol: forums.

Anycrap...

What I own

Outlaw Star (box set)
FLCL (accidentaly bootleg dvd with all epsiodes on one disc)
Ghost in the Shell
Trigun (complete series, some special thingy)

Dangit, I KNOW I have more, I just can't remember them at the moment. I havn't looked at them since I packed up when I moved.

What I've Seen (not on TV)

Samurai 7 (first 3 dvd's)
Appleseed
Gunslinger Girl (first DVD)
Burst Angel (all but last DVD)
Escaflowne Movie

Again, theres tons I can't remember at the moment

What I've seen (from TV)

Dragon Ball
Dragon Ball Z
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Gundam Wing
G Gundam
Gundam (original)
Full Metal Alchemist
Samurai Champloo
Dai Guard (up to episode 3)
Madlax (just episode 1-3)
Crommratie High (few episodes, total trip)
Full Metal Panic: Fumofu (again, just a couple episodes, I have Anime Network On Demand)
Princess Mononoke
Metropolis
Wolfs Rain
Lain (saw one episode)

Again....more that I can't remember

What's your favorite show?
My favorite show? Hm...thats a hard one, there are so many I like. FLCL is one of my obsessions, so you could say its my favorite show. I mean, look at my old sig:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v83/Xielos/flcl2.jpg

What show do you hate?
I HATE American shows that try to be anime, instead of just beinga show. I don't have a problem with an American show looking like anime, so long as it dosen't try to imitate it instead of making something of itself. Teen Titans is a good example. It may look like anime, but the show is presented more like an American show that has fused with anime themes, and in doing so it has created its own style. And Sailor Moon.

What are you watching right now?
I just finished watching Samurai 7, and my dad recently signed us up for Netflix, which to my surprise has a very good selection of anime titles. The Place Promised in our Early Days should be here today :D

What shows are you looking foward too?
I also put Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence in my Netflix list, so it'll be here as soon as I send Early Days back :D

Laptua Music Box (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v98/Yuckmud/LaptuaMusicbox.jpg)

What's your favorite show?

It's hard to pick one, but Ranma 1/2 definately tops the list. Tenchi Muyo is also way up there, though, along with InuYasha, (no surprise there, just another Rumiko Takahashi Anime) Ghost in the Shell, Outlaw Star, Battle Angel Alita, and Dragon Half. (I figure if I can count Alita, I can count Mink. Neither made more than one video)

Plus, I'm an OLD SCHOOL Giant Robot fan from way back. Getter Gobo G (Starvengers in the US) is my favorite. There's just something cool about it being three robots in one...

What show do you hate?

That's even tougher than picking a favorite. I used to not like Cowboy Bebop because it was too much like Outlaw Star. But it grew on me, and now I like it a lot. I still prefer Outlaw Star, but I've grown to like Bebop on its own merits.

Right now, I'd have to say S-Cry-Ed. I thought the little girl with the crush on Kazuma was cute, and I guessed right away she was an Alter user. But now that the show is over, I'd have to say it was underwhelming. I have no interest in watching it again.

Overall... that's a tough one. Probably one of those detestable self-parodying shows like Duel Monsters or Bo-Bo Bo-Bo-Whatever. There are a lot of Animes I turned out indifferent to, like Pokemon, or Robotech. But I can't really say I HATE them.

What are you watching right now?

Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2ng Gig, Evangelion, and Full Metal Alchemist. Plus InuYasha, of course. Most of what I watch is on Cartoon Network since I don't buy DvDs that often.

What shows are you looking forward too?

Xenosaga. I absolutely adored the game, and I absolutely LOVED Shion. (Girls with glasses do it every time. I flipped out over Yumiko from Read or Die, as well) I'm anxiously awaiting its debut over here.

I'd also like to see Season 3 of Monster Rancher.

What do you own?

Tenchi Muyo, the first season of Ranma 1/2, Irresponsible Captain Tylor, two Evangelion DvDs, Dragon Half, Battle Angel Alita, and selected episodes (about half) from Outlaw Star. I also have the DvD they released with the uncut first season of Sailor Moon. I have mangas of Ghost in the Shell, Battle Angel Alita, Ranma 1/2 and Tenchi Muyo. I also have Plastic Little, both the video and the manga. Yeah, I know it's cheesecake, but Tita's cute... :D

And although it doesn't officially count as Anime, I also have two of the DvDs (I need to get all four) of Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers, as well as several tapes from the 1980's release AND several episodes tapes off air. It was an American show, but used a lot of Japanese studios for its animation, as well as computer graphics. I definately recommend looking it up if you haven't heard of it.

What have you seen?

Well, this is a much longer list, and I probably won't remember it all. :D Most of the stuff from Cartoon Network I've seen. (and probably recorded) The Big O, Sailor Moon, DBZ of course, (although the only thing I liked was Gohan teaching Videl to fly) Trigun, Gundam Wing, (and all the other Gundams) Wolf's Rain, Read or Die, FLCL, Paranoia Agent, (man, that was cool) Ruroni Kenshin, Samurai Shamploo, etc., etc.

Back when I was a kid, of course, I watched the Giant Robot shows, and collected the Shogun Warrior toys, as well. Plus, there was Battle of the Planets and Speed Racer. Although I like Battle of the Planets better now as G-Force, I still had the biggest crush on Princess/Aggie June. I could watch 7-Zark-7 and that idiotic chirping Key-op as long as I got to see Aggie. :D

How frightening is that Usagi Shelf?

Well, as I said, I have a Shogun Warrior collection. I'm more of a Sailor Mercury person, myself though... :D

Okay...I haven't seen this one for a few years (back when the Florissant Fantasy Shop was the Hazelwood Fantasy Shop and they showed anime on the TV), but what was the name of the cartoon with the redheaded woman who fought supernatural monsters as part of a professional outfit, and her little lipstick container turned into a lightsaber whenever she'd start chanting "Red dragon spirit something...something", and she sometimes hung out with the fat exorcist with the staff with the rings on it, and at the end of every episode it seemed like their business' bills caught up with them and their funds ended up in the red?

I loved that show. Especially the one episode where she fought the vampire in the skyscraper. :D

I think many people see what's offered on television and think "That's it" when it comes to anime. People need to look into the shows they don't air on television or shows they CAN'T air. The thing I've found is there is somthing for everybody when it comes to anime, some people won't think that when they start but you proubly will find somthing you do enjoy if your not very closed minded.

I knew to put this into the "Spam Forum" because if your not on an Anime Specific board you will get the hardcore haters and the thread will turn ugly with people fighting over sterotypes or somthing else that's lame.

Meh. Anime: its a love, hate relationship.
I love watching it, I hate when I miss an episode. :P

Lets seee, where to begin.
I started watching Anime from Pokemon. Oh gad do I hate that show now, but in its first season when the game was fun and eight year olds weren't obsested, it was good. From there went to Dbz. Some people hate it, but I still feel it has some of the best fight seens ever. To bad you get one good episode to ever fifteen at best. After that I got a look at what ever was on cartoon network or my college friends were into.

As for animized american shows, it really does depend. Most are now drawing at least some influence since its so popular I think. If done right I think it only enhances the show. Good examples, to me at least, are Teen Titans and Avatar.

Favorites:
Ghost in the Shell: SAC. A cyberpunk classic. I'm really into the new season on Toon, but wish I could find it subbed.
.hack//sign. Love the music and the concept. Real funny to if you play those style games.
Gundam Seed. Best of the Gundams Period.
Evangelion. No respectable list would be with out it.

Lot of really good shows come to mind, but this list would get huge.

Dislikes:
There are no shows I really dislike (outside of what I like to call "kiddy anime"), just alot I don't watch.
My only really big beef is crappy dubs and the cost. Seriously, they get it for free out of the air and we have to pay 20 bucks for three episodes. Riiiip off. I for one won't pay that.

What I'm watching now:
Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2
Naruto from time to time
Avatar (its close right?)
Samuri Champoo when I can

There are alot of series that I need to get off my arse and finish too.

And I'm not going to freak out if someone says they don't like Anime. If they take the time to post a reason, I might discuss some alternatives that don't seem to fit the genre of what they don't like, but if they don't like it, they don't like it.

And BTW, I forgot to mention The Slayers. Not sure why... (I picked up the series in the first place because Lina reminded me of one of my sister's D&D characters, so I liked it from the start)

I like Cowboy Bebop, Vampire Hunter D (and it's sequel), Record of Lotos War. and Princess Monoke.

I also didn't like anime, but I finally figured I'd look around for things that DIDN'T have the super-size eyes "kiddie" look. One of the nice things about anime is that they can do stunts and other things with the characters and it doesn't require an obscenely large FX budget like a regular Western movie with live actors and stunt doubles.

After all, they're just drawn. Which gives them a lot of freedom. Sometimes the humor doesn't quite translate, but what does makes me smile, and a smile is worth a few million.

I have no problem stating why I hate Anime.

1. Slapstick Anime - things like DragonBall Z and Pokemon, where when a character gets mad his eyes go away and he starts flailing his arms and such. This style of Anime is unenjoyable to me because it is so effing stupid I can't pay attention to the story.

2. "Serious" Anime - Vampire Hunter D, Ninja Scroll, Outlaw Star and the like. These are so poorly drawn and voice-acted that I can't get into the story.

3. Characters - I have never seen an Anime with a character that I didn't want to hit with a shovel. In the brain. How can I like something full of characters that I want to bludgeon to death?

4. Animation - While I like the style of art used in most Anime, I don't like the animation I've seen. It's too '80's, like Superfriends and Thundercats.

5. Japanese culture - I don't get it. I'm open to learning about it, but I don't understand why half the stuff they do is funny or entertaining.

Like I said, if you don't like it, you don't like it. There's no explaining it, no excuses. It's just the way it is.

Although I don't want to give the impression I'm belittling anything Madonna has accomplished. I believe there are much bigger "pioneers" that paved the way for her -- Chrissy Hynde, Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Ann and Nancy Wilson. But even though she may not have kicked the door open, she did a good job of tearing it off its hinges...

I just don't think she's pretty. I've seen guys go on about, "She's so gorgeous, she's so sexy, she's so HOT!!!" And I go O_o

Then we should introduce you to Ghost in the Shell, which I notice is missing from your list. If nothing else, you might take to the sight of a naked cyborg woman trying to rip off a robot tank's hatch with her bare hands (and destroying her own arms in the process). It's a pretty good scene with the music and all.

Also there's the one I mentioned earlier, with the lightsaber-swinging, supernatural-hunting, red-dragon-spirit-invoking woman. But nobody ever told me the name to that one....

Whyen something "funny" or unexpected happens, the characters go all super-deformed and scream, etc. This is done to exagerate the expression and make it easier to convey. I call this the "comic relief" stuff, you won't see this sort of thing during an important or serious situation in the anime, only in the episodes that don't really matter. Its used to sort of balance out the series. Sometimes in a series, one episode is very serious, while the next one will be a comedy episode to balance it out.

2. "Serious" Anime - Vampire Hunter D, Ninja Scroll, Outlaw Star and the like. These are so poorly drawn and voice-acted that I can't get into the story.

Well, can't help that the voice acting is terrible, it just happens. You could always go for subbed anime instead :look:

3. Characters - I have never seen an Anime with a character that I didn't want to hit with a shovel. In the brain. How can I like something full of characters that I want to bludgeon to death?

Not sure what you mean here O_o

4. Animation - While I like the style of art used in most Anime, I don't like the animation I've seen. It's too '80's, like Superfriends and Thundercats.

Imitation of 80's style of animation is a style in itself. Also, the reason some anime titles like Meteropolis looks the same as very old stuff like Astro Boy and Gigantor, for example, is because they are done by the same guy :P

5. Japanese culture - I don't get it. I'm open to learning about it, but I don't understand why half the stuff they do is funny or entertaining.

You aren't alone...

Also there's the one I mentioned earlier, with the lightsaber-swinging, supernatural-hunting, red-dragon-spirit-invoking woman. But nobody ever told me the name to that one....

I'm pretty sure I know what you're talking about, Widdy, I'll have to try and remember it. It was some odd name...

I'll also point out that most of that is based on Looney Tunes style chaotic comedy. You'll often see the old "cloud of smoke with arms and legs coming out of it". And of course most Looney Tunes characters had the childlike look, with the big head and little body. Oh, and the huge eyes were taken from Disney, and exaggerated to the extreme.

Western and Eastern Animation both evolved from the same sources, they just took slightly different paths. Each was shaped by the culture to have slightly different symbolism. It's sort of like learning a new language, once you understand the symbols, it makes more sense.

That sounds like...(I am gonna get this wrong) "Ghost Chaser "Yumi" "(I am unsure the name of the character). While googling for a search for "Ghost Chaser" and Anime, I came up with Densei, which doesn't sound right (unless it is Ghost Chaser Sensei?). And it was a game for the SNES, HOWEVER, I do own an SNES game based on the series you mentioned, Wids. It's just stored and I'd have to dig it out. So, it *could* be Densei, but I doubt it. I think it was her name or somesuch.

Sorta.

It was more inspired by Disney. Most anime fans give the credit of this style to Osamu Tezuka, although he actually sorta jumped in with many folks in the media at the time and emerged at the top of the heap; they were all inspired by Walt Disney and there are some very early animation attempts in Japan that look like they are from "Steam Boat Willy". Feliz the Cat could also be said to be an inspiration, because there is a famous Black-n-White Cat in Japan (military-style) that is well known, although I forget the name atm.

Even back before the occupation of Japan, Japan copied many things about the US (not just in animation, movies as well), but this could be said about many countries.

Nah, it is considered to be an American/British/Canadian venture. I forget what studio did the in-betweening work, but I think it may've been sent to Korea? Actually, this was a bit before the Korean dominance of in-betweening work, so it may've been done in the U.S.

The movie(s) featured American/British (heck, let's say INTERNATIONAL) artists that made it to the covers of Heavy Metal magazine, which is an anthology of drawn stories by various artists, like Moebius and others. Many of the segments of Heavy Metal were adapted from the pages of this Magazine.

Yeah, Heavy Metal was a great movie, but more Western style. There was a great deal of rotoscoping (where a live actor is "traced" to create the animation) and many of the backgrounds were very stylized, like a painting.

Oh, and Grae Knight, Taarna was her name. :D One of my sister's main D&D characters was based on her. Her "hook" when introduced into a game was to appear in a bar and get harassed by some drunks, whom she promptly thrashed, just like in the movie.

I loved her "dragon" in the poster, but in the movie it looked like a big chicken...

And (final edit, I promise) I suspect the Urishihara Anime "Legend of Lemnear" was based on her.

Grae, if you want a Japanese Anime you and your whole family will enjoy check out Turner Classic Movies tonight. (Hopefully you get this channel, if not rent the movies)

TCM usually does a director of the month and for January there saluting Hayo Miyazaki. Tonight their playing "My Neighbor Totoro", "Porco Rosso" and "Whisper of the Heart".

My Neighbor Totoro is a fantastic movie the whole family can enjoy. I saw the first dub of it when I was ten and I loved it. Disney has re-dubbed it and it has Dakota Fanning and her sister Elle as the two little girls so I'm excited to see how it's going to be with them in it.

Japanese culture is a bit weird. It's great to read about to find out what everything is about. I found a book called "Warriors of Legend: Reflections of Japan in Sailor Moon" Click here for the website (http://www.warriorsoflegend.com/)

I found the book to be really interesting. My friends even got a kick out of it as well. It's a book that ties Japanese history into the Sailor Moon anime series. You'd be suprised how much the show has in it, especially if you have only seen the dub of it.

not to get on anyones case for those who dont like anime. Being a true anime head I believe anime is for everyone, people just aint find the anime they like yet. I been watching anime since I was like 5 japanese audio/ english subs. maybe I'am wrong about what i said, but I do believe there is an anime for everyone, its great stories and art. I can point out a million and 1 american cartoons that suck soo much. besides JLA, Teen T and Family guy and a few others, the rest of the american cartoons dont hold my interest. Like I said this statement is not to get on anyones case, its just how I feel about anime :)

I Live in New york, and the black market is just a train ride away :D so I dont pay much when it comes to anime. The most was $60 for one box set, which was Ranma 1/2 the complete first series which had crazy Discs. Best buy wanted double that amount for the same box set. I'm one box set away from finishing Ranma that'll run me maybe $30 tops. For me its cheaper to a degree. I buy manga also dont get me wrong. But nothing to tough from Japan. I find myself reading alot to korean manga. Like Chiwoo ( fairly new, and art reminds me of shaman king) Rebirth ( which is damn good btw) Ragnarok ( great read). Blade of Heaven ( this most be popluar by now along with Rebirth cause they sell out fast at the shops) infact I read more and watch more anime then I do american TV and comics. what can I say I'm a anime nut. I even got theme songs of every anime I own on my ipod.:chaku::ninja: :D

What shows do I like? Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, Tenchi Muyo (all of them, even Tenchi in Tokyo), Porco Risso, Love Hina, Sorceror Hunters, Princess Mononoke, Naruto, Some of the Gundams, Wolf's Rain, Yu Yu whatever his last name is, .hack //sign, FLCL, Full Metal Alchemist, Rurouni Kenshin, Samurai Champloo, Blue Submarine 6, Tenjho Tenge (pardon spelling)

What Manga do I like? Whatever is availible in manga form from those above and, Megatokyo, Van Von Hunter, Light's Out, a bunch of others I can't or won't remember the names to now.

Dislike? Wallflower, Dragon Ball Z, Yu Gi Oh, some other things who's names I have blacked out

I prefer anime to most cartoons right now, because all my favorite shows have long since been canceled. Animation styler doesn't bug me at all. I like the smooth style of Anime as much as the flashy style of cartoons. If the show entertains me, I'm all for it.

What do I want to see? The revival of the early 90's cartoons America had going for it. These include, but are not limited to:
Rocko's Modern Life
Swat Kats
Invader Zim
Ahh! Real Monsters
etc etc

What should go away?
Rugrats
Almost anything on Nick right now
Almost anything on Disney right now

Would you consider Avatar: The last airbender an anime? I'm curious. The style is, in my opinion, anime. But I'm not sure. It's all Nick has going for it in my opinion.

And yes, I wandered off topic. Oh well. I'm a Druid, deal with it.

I don't use torrents, but I'd like to learn how to so I can get Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars for free rather then buying a bootleg set off of Ebay.

For me I like to read the manga first then see it animated. The anime versions of Bleach and Naruto follow the manga to the T and FMA is a different story line compaired to the manga so now I'd like to read that because I enjoy watching it on Saturdays.

I read off another message board that the creator of Yu-Yu and Hunter x Hunter has been ill for a while and has not done anything in months. I'd really like to send him a get well card. I've been a fan of Yu-Yu since they release Polterguist Report on VHS.

Cas, you REALLY should look into going to Otakon. It's well worth the money.

Most companies HATE going to conventions in the city. It costs too much to get here and the prices for the hotels keep a lot of folks out.

Just going to that $hitty Big Apple Anime Fest was evidance of that. It sucked so hard we left at 1 in the afternoon because there was NOTHING cool going on. I have never been to any convention were I didn't buy anything out of the dealers room.

On the other hand, the New York Comic Con is next week at the Javits, I should be going because my friends and I want to get the word out on our webcomic and I'd like to meet Kevin Smith. Let me know what your up to.

No need to. Unless you thinking of a Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back 2, he's already in the middle of making Clerks 2. You can see the teser trailer online, I just want it in black and white like the first one, it's weird seeing Randal and Dante in color.

Sailor Moon series go like this,

Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon (First Season)
Sailor Moon R (Second Season)
Sailor Moon S (Third Season)
Sailor Moon Super S (Forth Season)
Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (Fifth and final season)

Sailor Stars was never released in America. Thank you Toei Animation!! They own all the rights to the show and they refused every offer to bring it to the states, the same when for Tokyo Pop when they wanted to Re-Trasnlate the manga, they got turned down.

So the only way to see the show is by bootlegging it.

Yeah, it's a kickass avatar.

And I'm waiting for the manga to finish first. No offence to anime, but manga generally has the superior artwork. (What with not having to draw like, 20 drawings for every second.) Not as bad with some of the anime versions, but alot of times those are also the movies (Ghost in the Shell and Akira as examples), and therefore they don't tend to follow the manga as closely as a full series would.

Also I only have so much time in the day and I still have the entire 2nd season of Inuyasha on DVD to watch. (Which was bought in DECEMBER to give you an idea of how fast I go through it.)

YuYu Hakusho plays a role in what is bleach. me and my friends compare bleach to it all the time. yet its different in its own way at the same time.
And with Steamboy I havent even seen yet thou I hear from every person that has seen it, say its good. just like samurai 7 another one I aint see yet due to lack of interest on my part. I'll be sure to see it before the year is out.

I'm going to try to get the rest of my (non-anime-liking) family to watch it, because holy crap it was awesome.

I gave up trying that on my family. They swear its just cartoons with Japanese people rambling about nothing. They think its like a damn saturday morning cartoon with bugs bunny. In their "eye" they see it for what it is...a cartoon and nothing above that. and because of this reason, they view it as being childish. most people tend to take live action movies with real people over watching animated stuff. When I find that the animes or even animations hold sometimes more story then live action, and their performances are way better. No need for actors trying to hard cause they are drawn. People who just believe in Live action stuff I stay away from trying to show their A$$es anything anime, cause I have to go threw the whole explaining myself. And then make them look bad for down playing me for watching cartoons that are fake, by telling them how they watch movies with "Real people" that is just as fake as the $hit I'm watching O_o

Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi

I don't know if I've ever seen a funnier anime. If you liked Fooly Cooly, you'll love this. Its done by the same group and in the same style. The basic plot is about 2 12 year old kids, Sashi and Arami, who live in the Abenobashi Shopping Arcade, like a big outdoor market place. The entire shooping arcade is slowly being torn down for redevelopment and people are moving away. Sashi's family ran the Turtle Bath/Spa (which was torn down while he was at summer camp before he could get all his stuff out), and Arami's family runs the Pelican Grill, a French restaurant. Arami is soon moving away as well, so the Pelican Grill will be torn down.

On top of the restaurant is a porcelin bird with a star in a circle on it. According to Sashi's grandfather, its one of the lynchpins of the shopping arcade, and out of the 4 Gods of Harmony, is the only one left. Bassicly, its like a magical anchor.

During an accident, the pelican falls and shatters, and things start going apecrap. Arami and Sashi are forced to travel through different versions of ths Shopping Arcade (Abenobashi Swords and Sorcery Shopping Arcade, Abenobashi Chinese Combat Shopping Arcade), each world having a different set of rules, and each world containing an annoying goblin. The goblin grants you one wish, and they always wich to go back home, but the goblins are lazy and just send them to another alternate version of their home.

If you've seen a lot of anime, then you can truly appreciate this series. I've only seen up to episode 4, and I've already noticed countless anime referances. Some are really vauge (one episode you can see Aboa Qu floating in space), others are obvious (Sashi going super sayin and dropping the kameya meya, Mune Mune's ultra-skimpy space police uniform).

If you like anime at all, you have to see this. Highly recomended :D

Funi's been pretty good. The FMA dub and the new dub of Dragon Ball Z have been pretty good.

As with every anime that comes to America I want two things, a good dub cast with fresh voices like the Naruto dub. If I hear Wendee Lee and Steve Blum (Spike and Faye) doing the same voices in Bleach I'm going to hurl. I'm sick of hearing them.

And number two is they need an UNCUT DVD with a Japanese language track.

If they have those two things, I'm happy.

Yay! Naruto has a new episode out tomorrow. Almost done with filler episodes.

Krypto thinks the voices for Blech are the same as the voices for Naruto. I have to agree with him.

I hope they get people with feeling and character to do the voices for bleach. An anime that I just finished that I recomend for anyone into anime is Last Exile. Its one of the best animes Iv seen in a while. Its got a great story and really good artwork, its one of my favorite animes now. The show takes place in a world where vanships rule the skies and it follows the story of two orphens as they get involved in a war between two coutries: The Disith and Anatore. I highly recommend it.

There was also a movie I watched recently Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade...it was just awesome also worth a watch for anyone into anime. Its a very dark and violent movie. The basic idea of the movie is that a traumatized member of an elite para-military police force falls for the sister of a female terrorist courier who died in front of him on duty. Its a great movie

I LOVE Jin-Roh. It's in my top 5 favorite movies. (Not anime movies. Movies. Period.)

Your right its not just a great anime movie, its a great movie. I have two questions I would like to pose.

1) To anyone who has watched the Gundam series, which is your favorite? I just finished Zeta Gundam and found it definitly to be one of the better ones, although kind of depressing. Tomino loves to kill off his characters. I like Seed alot also, has the feel of 0079, not as good though. But I find that my favorite would have to be 08th MS Team.

2) To anyone who has watched Evangelion. The ending...um whats going on? Im talking about the TV series ending, not the movie End Of Evangelion. Although I found both endings really confusing and kind of dissapointing. I dont understand at all whats going on in the last two episodes of the TV show. I see that it all seems to be taking place in the characters minds and that Shinji is choosing between a world with individuality or one without. But there seemed to be no segway into these last two episodes. Did Insturmentality even actually take place?

Also on the topic of the Evangelion's ending, what is exactly the state of the world at the end of the movie End of Evangelion. Are Asuka and Shinji the only two alive?

Impact

08th MS team is my favorite Gundam series. Ever. But then again I'm also on the other end of the spectrum as a fan of G Gundam.

I've seen both the endings for Eva but I'll have to watch them again to try and answer. I think I remember Asuka and Shinji being the only ones left, but again I'm not sure. We (being myself and some friends) watched the full span of Eva (all of the episodes and the movies) in a 24 hr period, so I'm still a little fuzzy about some of the things that happened.

8th MS Team FTW

I just finished off Abenobashi, wow what a weird ending. Anyways, I'm waiting on Dead Leaves now, I heard it was funny as hell and from what I've seen in trailers, the animation is epilep-tastic.

Yeah, although never heard of Abenobashi before, it gave me some hard laughs, especially the Hollywood episode...

A good anime I started to like is the "Hunter X Hunter" Series. Although it is a little bit like Dragonballs (Be defeated by an opponent, train to get stronger, stomp the opponent into the gound) the characters are very nice and you get adopted to the story quickly.

only ranma 1/2 and inuyasha and S-cry-ed Have I actually liked in english anything else. I refuse to watch in english. dont get me wrong I give it a chance. But I been watching anime since I was 5 and I take it serious. Japanese voices always out shine the american voice actors due to feeling they put into the characters.

I love mecha. Battletech, which I love, got me started on big robots blowing stuff up. :naughty: G Gundam was alright, it didnt really appeal to me because it felt like Gundam trying to act like Dragonball. Gundam Wing I really liked. Wing Zero from the Endless Waltz movie is like, my favorite Gundam ever. Thinking of mecha Macross is another anime I fully enjoyed.

Actually, I was just speaking in generic terms. :D

Starvengers (Getter Robo G) was three jets.

Voltus V (and it's clone Combattler) was two jets, a truck, a car, and a bulldozer.

Grandizer was a saucer, although in that case the robot docked with the saucer instead of the other way around.

Mazinger (the grandaddy of them all :D) had a jet that docked with its head.

[edit] Actually, I think I remember Voltron III was three animals, I believe one of them was a lion. It formed the chest, and the lion's head was in the middle of the chest. However, I think that was actually another robot originally, and just renamed Voltron for American audiences.

On that subject, though, I really wish EA hadn't trashed their Battletech MMO. I thought it was really fun, and aside from strange technical problems it was purchase-worthy. Not monthly-fee worthy, though. Unless they had planned to add a lot more variety in gameplay and mech availability.

Anyway, they need to make a Dragon Ball vs Street Fighter anime series. It must include an un-cut Chun Li shower scene, too.

Not just planned, it hit open beta stages. I played it for about 3 weeks before it got axed. It was a part of EA's attempt to compete with Sony's Station format, but when it was killed it took all of the neat games with it.

I've got a lot of Anime, but I haven't bought much lately. I started off collecting movies, then started with some of the TV shows. Some of what I have:

Movies:
Akira
Ninja Scroll
Vampire Hunter D
Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust
Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade
Spirited Away
Grave of the Fireflies
Princess Mononoke
Tokyo Godfathers
Metropolis
Steamboy

TV Shows:
Outlaw Star
Cowboy Bebop
Noir
Samurai Champloo
GTO
FLCL
Full Metal Alchemist
Nadesico
Escaflowne
Trigun
Cromartie High School
Elfen Lied

And a good bit more I can't remember off-hand. It's just too expensive to keep up, and while some of my collection may not have been "purchased" exactly, I do try to buy the stuff I liked enough to watch again.

Next DVD on my list, Serial Experiments Lain, episodes 1-4.

Now I've seen a single episode of Lain before, and to be honest it scared the crap outa me. So I decided to start from scratch and get the DVD's. Honestly, I don't know what it is about this anime, but it completely drains me emotionaly. I feel depressed, sad, almost scared, after just the first 4 episodes. I don't mean to get all deeply philosophical or anything, but I just don't know haw to explain it.

Basicly, the show is about an 8th grade girl named Lain. Shes the quiet one and has no friends. She is extrmly reserved and very childish. shes loved teddy bears, and wears teddy bear pajamas. After she recieves an email from a girl that killed herself the week before, she sasks her father to buy her a new computer. She soon becomes obsessed with computers and begins to customize and mod it. She also begins to change as a person, and apparently there is another girl named Lain who looks exactly like her, but a complete polar opposite in terms of personality.

As far as the animation goes, its beautiful, but I didn't think it was possible to draw such empty eyes. Its really creepy. But what I think is creeping me out the most is the intro song. There is just something about it that haunts me...

EDIT- Ok well, according to my friend, its not just me. Seems Lain has a notorious reputation of turning people into depressive emo's. He afraid to watch it, and I've taken the rest of the DVD's off my list. Maybe some otehr time I'll finish it...
