Its odd but I actually wish i had stayed off the test test server. I find myself both really happy with the new costume options and the fact I can finally get Razor to look exactly like I want her to ..and kinda depressed cause I have to wait to do it and know its likly gonna cost millions of influence to rescale all three my costumes and what not. It bugs me so much I am actually having trouble playing the game right now cause looking at how off my character currently is kinda kills it for me. I know its kinda pathetic. So if you dont see me much in game its cause I am currently yeah ..kinda blah about playing again but am hoping a praying every day that when I do log in that I4 has hit. Soo yeah. :razor:

I totally agree, BR. I've been waiting anxiously for these costumes and sliders, they make my characters feel so much better. And because of the arena and its stupid balance issues, we will have to wait even more.

Since I'm out of the game for a while, I'm not making a point of keeping up with all the changes on the test server. So, from the perspective of semi-educated ignorance, I ask:

IF I recall correctly (which I'll freely admit may not be the case) didn't someone 'official' say something, quite a while ago, that the 'balance' nerfs/buffs(HA!) would only apply while in an actual PvP situation?

At the time, I seem to remember thinking "How do they plan on coding that?"; but decided that, since they'd announced it, they probably already knew what they had to do to make it work.

So, to clarify...

Are the changes being made to existing powers going to apply in the arena only (until PvP is introduced in CoV) or are these changes going to be unilaterally thrust upon every toon that's walking down the street?

I'm in total agreement. It's rediculous to make the playbase wait for new costume options so they can balance the Arena.

Are they even close to doing that yet, BTW? Two days from now, it will have been 4 months since I3 was released, and I thought I remembered reading the Issues were supposed to be released every 3 months.

I still see no valid argument in the devs saying "costumes are just an aesthetic polish to the game". This is a freakin' MMORPG emphasis on the RPG!

I mean c'mon no one wants to go to a Rennissance Festival where no one dresses up...

So Cryptic needs to get this shiznit together on this and do a freakin' Double-Sized Issue and give us Body Sliders/Costumes now and then Arena/Badges when its ready.

Sit down, star, and take a deep breath. It will (hopefully) pass.

So, are the 'balance things going to effect toons only while in the arena or across the board?

I don't know about all the changes they are looking at but I know the DA changes are across the board, in arena or out. There may be some that are arena only changes but I believe the bulk are total changes. Like the no perma powers.
I could be wrong. *shrug*

Ah, so "PvP won't effect PvE". :grr:

(editted to add...)
I'm assuming that players will get another free respec when all this sh!t goes live, then, right? Or are their paying customers expected to grind a new tune up to qualify for one of the ingame respecs?

Advice: Don't make any new toons.

The free respec was given for the one year anniversary, which if you ask me is somewhat poor planning when it can now be spent pre I4.

I spent mine as a blaster I have little nerfing to fear, and am close enough to 34 to do that respec if necessary. But there are others that may regret choices when I4 comes out if they spend it too quickly.

The only active thing people can do to help get I4 out is spend more time on test, specifically when the mods and devs are there trying to get numbers.

As for the influence BR, there is a level 50 person whom recently cancelled their subscription, but may have a few days left in game, possibly they could give you a loan...

I think I read somewhere that there were things they wanted to look at and tweak anyways so what better time then when making adjustments for the arena?

Meh.

I'm glad they're taking their sweet time.Jesus people, you bitch at either side! You bitched at how buggy and quick I3 came out and now your bitching about how long it's taking so that they can make it bug free and playable.

We bitched about I3 being buggy because they pushed it out too fast.

We bitch about there being too much in I4 to test and it's late.

Who's to blame if they 'promised' a new issue every 3 months and cram too much into the patch to deliver?

I think what the devs should have said about PvP is "Changes to PvP will only effect PvE IN THE SAME WAY". There actually are plenty of changes that effect PvP only, so I assume if the devs have them effect both, it's because they WANT it to, not that they're forced to.

It's pretty obvious to me that SOME changes are going to effect both PvP and PvE. Like, oh, adding new Powers or new Archetypes. Nobody wants changes like that to ONLY effect PvP or PvE.

I agree I'm getting impatient, though. I'm just waiting for it, but I really do want to make my changes final to Sandy.

I3 was bugged as hell and it was all gameplay stuff. I4 is clearly divided in 2 parts, arena and costumes. While the arena needs a lot of tweaking and balancing and should not be rushed, the costumes were ready since it hit test basically. And those people (like us) who are only interested in the costumes and sliders don't want to wait for them much longer only because of completely independent game content.

Not bitching about broken promises from game developers, when people paid 15$ for it, is like buying a 50 inch TV, go home to find out it isn't working, and NOT demanding a refund and/or repair.

Hey, I was happy as a clam when issue three came out, and I'll be even happier when issue four comes out. Since I care not one whit about PvP, I just want my new costumes! And besides, I half expect them to delay releasing it till PAST May 29th, so no one gets that one year anniversary badge. :P

Wow... all this makes me soooo glad I don't play on Test. I can, and will, wait paitently for the new options to come into the game. I personally would rather see PvP as balanced as possible and wait for new costume options than have things half assed on the PvP, even though I have no intention of playing PvP.
