Attention Danes and Netherlanders... Netherlandites.. Netherlandans? Aw crap. And other assorted Europeans, too. ;)

I'm going to be in Copenhaggen and Amsterdam for eight days at the end of May. I could use some suggestions on what to check out and what to avoid.

Gimme something cool here, folks.

Being a dane, I would probably, if you're in search of comics atleast, go to "Farao's Cigar" and "Fantask", which are both on sideroads to our main shopping street, Strøget. (Strøget is a must for tourists.)

And (sorry, but in this case I'm a bit of a racist) avoid bumping head with large groups of arabic descent also try to avoid groups who try to emulate this sort of thing.

The Little Mermaid is not what it's cracked up to be (It's much smaller, than you expect), and it's usually swarmed with japanese tourists.

Avoid all tourist traps for their prices are jacked up and completely insane.
It's completely pointless going to Christiania (Our local part of Amsterdam :D) from now on, since all the pusher have been forced out of Pusher Street (Actual name). You also can't smoke joints outside anymore.

Most danes have a decent amount of english capabilities, so asking for directions is always a possibility.

The clubs are usually active on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, although you're almost garantied to almost always find some people on other days too.

Unless you're into S&M or looking for a boyfriend (This is for the guys only), only go to Studiestræde for Fantask, the comic shop.

Ask away, if you're interested in anything related to Copenhagen.

Isn't Christiana the druggie part of town? (seems ironic)

I think that is what he tried to emphasise with "Our local part of Amsterdam" in Copenhagen.

So you're going to the Netherlands and Dane, but not to Germany? How come? Not visiting the worlds most beautifull Harbour Town, Hamburg?

Amsterdam alone is worth all days... but Kopenhagen, check out Tivoli, the park. It's a great city overall as well.

I'm taking a trip round Europe myself this summer. Spending most of the time on the Croatian coast but you know I'll be coming through Amsterdam and Prague.

I've been to Amsterdam a few times and as far as sights go, there's a lot of art museums. I've been to the Van Gogh Museum because I'm fascinated by the guy but there's also a plethora of other art related attractions if that's what you're in to. I've been to the the Anne Frank House, but I didn't find it terribly interesting. If none of that floats your boat there's always the Sex Museum. There is, of course, always the national delights to sample before/during/after (or perhaps all of the above) that, unless you have any moral hang-ups on that.

Have a good time, Imp, I'm sure you will. I can't imagine your spending pocket change on it.

Rent Eurotrip and you should be dead before the day is done.

Fixed it for you.

Hehe as much as I know some people found EuroTrip offensive, I actually quite enjoyed it. My only problem with it was that they gave me false hopes about visiting Denmark, and then skip it.

And yeah Tivoli and Bakken are two amusement park you should probably atleast see. I think Bakken is the oldest amusement park in the world actually. Tivoli is from around the 1840's and Bakken predates that.

And yes Christiania is our "druggie" part of town, but it's just not the same anymore. You use to be able to smoke joints out in the open, but you can't do that anymore. Plus atleast with Christiania you knew the crap wasn't laced with other ****, because it was so centralized and run by old hippies and a few rockers. Now it's shattered all over the city in dark alleys and other nefarious localtions and dealt by even more shady characters.

But anyway what part of town are you staying in, Min?

Kinderdijk is quite impressive to drive past. They even have a boat you can take but of course it's expensive.
