I understand that power supplies themselves aren't that costly to replace. The only serious problem is if your power supply cut out while the hard drive was being accessed, resulting in damaged sectors and such.

Can any techies out there back me up on this?

Well that can happen, now a days its less of a risk since as the evils of fat32 formatting are gone. NTFS formatting is a good deal more stable and less prone to causeing damage on your drive.

I've gone through two power supplies in about as many years, the last one being a spiffy ole 600 watter (don't ask how I blow em 6 fans and other stuff is a drain). My hard drives are still spinning fine and free of damaged sectors.

Actualy, folks, false alarm. My comp is fine, it was just my really-old surge protector/backup power source. No hard drive problems detected as of yet.

Carry on and mods, do yo thang.

Yeah. Stop hitting those porn websites. :shinner: ;)

I'm sure Kinetix and/or Wids will launch into the "Ad Aware is evil and you only need Microsoft's Spyware detector" mantra at any moment. :P

Get out. I never advocated Microsoft's Spyware Ignorer BETA. I advocated Spyware Ignorer and Spybot and the trial version of Spyware Doctor running together. That's what our computer had, after all. :P

Of course, that was before we knew better. We figured out that if the trial version of SD was so superior to Spybot, Ad-Aware or *gag* Microsoft's spyware-overlooking wonder, then the full version of SD was quite likely to kick the living crap out of every byte of spyware known to man. So now that SD won the big trial-version pit fight, our computer's only running the full, registered, paid-good-money-for Spyware Doctor. And that's the only one you need.
