I know this has probably been said before, but this has never happened to me until last night. I joined a pick up team with Coyote Storm (http://www.creyindustries.com/viewhero.php?id=18396) with the hope of gaining a couple levels and just having some fun for an hour or two. 5 minutes into the mission I get kicked! I sent a tell to the leader to tell him I got kicked somehow and he said he kicked me to make room for a healer! I am a Storm/Archery Defender. Have no intention of healing anyone. I am all about controlling the flow of battle. Needless to say this thoroughly pissed me off. Does this happen often to non-healer type defenders?

Not to mine, but that's probably because I specifically tell them upfront that I don't heal. So I just don't get invited if that's the case. (And wouldn't want on that team even if I did heal anyway)

I was completely shocked. I use to tell people I was a Stormy and do not have O2 boost but got away from it as I got a little higher. I guess that is the risk you take joining a pick up group. Of course, anyone who has teamed with me (or any Stormy for that matter) can attest to the awesomeness of Snowstorm plus Freezing Rain both slotted with 2 slows (so far).

Take a look in the Defender (and no Corrupter forums) on the official site. About half the threads in there are about it. It seems to be VERY common. If you don't heal, a lot of noobs think you're a waste of space.

Yup. I guess part of the grind through the low levels is dealing with that.

It's more common at low levels, but you'll still run into those situations at high levels. Some people just have a hard time "thinking outside the box"...

So true. Even at 50, I like to have a "healer" in the team but I certainly would not kick them from the group to make room for another. I guess that player just did not knwo who he was dealing with. See this is one I keep Grae in all my toons name. Hero worship is a grand thing ;)

That sucks man, I have NEVER been kicked to make room for a healer, and gourd help the team that does. I've been asked if I was healer a bazillion times (the tells always go unanswered), but never have I been kicked cuz I'm not a heelr. Although a whiiiile back I remember everyone assumed all defenders where healers. The whole team gets wiped and they blame ME, asking me where the heals were. At that point I asked them the same question :chuckle:

ALL THE TIME! That's what I'd get. U a heeler?! I hate them all. I loved playing with teams that wanted me on there because they had a good ballance.
My favorite was when I was playing with my TA Defender and sombody asked me if I could heal. Like a smartass that I am I replied, "Yeah, I trade you a Respite and you use it" to my suprise he invited me to the team and they didn't suck and I was well recieved by the team for my Debuffs.

For what it's worth, I love all Defenders equally. Anything that keeps me from eating it is more than welcome with me.
