Alright, I'm brand new here, so go easy on me.

I got a couple of questions about Dark/Dark, and don't worry, I'm not here to complain about nerfs or anything.

Down to bidnis. Dark/dark, I find, is really fun. I'm only level 8, but I found out that most of my powers, have a much better effect then the other corruptor's. Fire deals damage over time, Ice slows em down dramatically, etc, etc. I noticed, that the Dark Blast powers, really DO make things inaccurate. I really want to know if this is going to be just as useful for higher levels, say, 35's and 40's.

I know, from what I've heard in other forum's and what not, that Dark Miasma (though semi underused) is EXTREAMLY effective. Right now, what I got is Twilight Grasp, and in my Blast, I got, Dark Blast, Gloom, Moonbeam, Dark pit, and Tenebrous Tenetacles. (Holy crap, I just named all those for memory.) Anyhoo, I wanna know if I should get more Miasma powers, like uh.. I think it's, Howling Twilight, the res one, but I wanna know if I need Tar patch, and stuff in the end.

Yes yes, I'm a noob, gawd. So go easy on me. Or I'll give you rabies.

OK, I'm off to beat some Snakes heads in. :box:

I'm using a fire/dark character as an alt...I'm only level 11 with her, but I have to say that two powers that you really want to get are tar patch and howling twilight. Tar patch debuffs the resistance of enemies caught in it, so makes your primary attacks do a lot more damage. It also slows the enemies down considerably, which is a decent form of control.

Howling twilight is amazing in a group, but can be used solo too...even if you don't res anyone, it'll disorient the enemies for a bit. Very handy.

Danke, Nile. I know the one thing that I'll want in the end is that Dark Servant. Hey, even if it DOESN'T do much damage or shomething, IT'S A DEMON! Come on! I'm not seeing a downside here.

Anyways, thank you, and I'll get Tar patch probably sometime soon. Another quick question. If tar patch lowers resistance, can it be mixed with Tenebrous Tentacles, for a sort of a super hold, almost like a dark controller? Or am I going insane?

Pah, stupid men in white coat!

Well, they will stack, yes. Tenebrous tentacles immobilizes them and debuffs their accuracy. Tar Patch debuffs their resistance. So they'll be weakened and held in place, but they'll still be attacking you. Something like tenebrous tentacles to hold them still and howling twilight to disorient them will actually render them doing nothing at all for a little while. Unfortunately, the recharge on howling twilight is a bit long.

Soemthing that's supposedly a really sweet combo is Fire/Dark. You can use the movement-stopping effects in /Dark to keep enemies in your Rain of Fire ;)

I think I'll start a /Dark myself at some point. Tried a Sonic/Dark, but the godawfull sound effects for Sonic turned me off. Maybe I'll go AR/Dark, allways had a concept for a undead AR/Fire Blaster that I never got anywhere...

wel, I have a dark dark defender i've played through lvl 23 so far, and let me tell you, get howling twilight, and put recharge reductions on it, usually I don't have issues with people dying on me, but it makes for great control. also, as soon as it's available, get fearsome glare.

Most of what makes Dark/Dark so badass is that it IS a mini controller... a mini controller who can nuke.

another recommended power is Shadow Fall. I;'d recommend at your level slotting it for endurance reduction and defense. (the reason i recommend this power is it is one of the few powers that gives resistance to energy/negative energy and psionics)

Nightfall should be another of your bread and butter attacks, it's a pretty nice AoE Cone.

hope this helps!

Thanks, this is really going to help. I've only gotten another level sense the other night, but I see what you guys mean. What I've been doing, sense my usual teammate is a stalker, is I do Tentacles, then dark pit. Tentacles for the hold, then Pit for a disorient, which is rather effective, moreso then I thought.

What I AM having trouble with, is deciding if I should spend my Infamy on buying a bunch of enhancesments or actually waiting till I get higher level. Needless to say, it's kind of frustrating when you spend 5k Infamy on enhancements and in 4 levels, they're crap. Heck, I've only gotten one char to level 14, and that is SAYING SOMETHING. I'm sticking with dark/dark though, and please, if you guys have anymore advise, post it here!

Thanks for all your help! :D

I'd say to never buy Trainings. Once you have access to Dual Origins you might consider buying some for the most important powers. Mostly I'd reccomend waiting until you hit lvl22 and then use your saved up Inf to invest in Single Origins.
