Pearl Harbor bombed today. (http://www.historychannel.com/tdih/tdih.jsp?month=10272964&day=10272972&cat=10272946)

In case you didn't remember.

Well personally...its been 65 years or so I think it's about time we moved on :|

If not then atleast give time to the battles/events that started every other war we've been in.

Also note it was in the making for a year and our Carriers (the ships that were the major force in the Pacific and the only reason we won the Pacific theater) just "happened" to not be anywhere near Pearl Harbor the day of the attack and this war buildup just "happened" to take the country our of the Great Depression... :eyebrow:

That was mere coincedence and bad intelligence and communication on the Japanese side. Their moles at Pearl harbor didn't manage to report back that our ships had gone out on a routine kind of trip. They do patrols like that, so as far as the Japanese were concerned the very carriers they wanted to take out were still there.

Either way, they caught us with our pants down. And no matter how many conspiracy theories you throw, I'm not going to stop remembering this day, because hundreds of soldiers gave their lives fighting a battle they were totally unprepared for. (not that you can ever really prepare to fight like that)

We have moved on, but that's no reason to not show respect for the soldiers who died that day.

Not an excuse. Even if its been 200 years, you never forget. It's branded into American history. We should always pay our respects to the people who lost their lives that day.

Taking quotes out of context to try and discredit someone's entire opinion is awesome.

I took nothing out of context though I know what you are saying. I was merely upset over his whole post. I felt as though it just made the soldiers sacrifices seem like pawns in a political game that did not happen.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Wasn't responding to you.

Then you're probably responding to me, and if so, then I don't know why. I pretty much said the same thing as Druid and Krypt, only threw in a couple more of my opinions.

Not responding to any single person.

Just an observation.

Just admit it Rando, you were directing that at me. For that one time, at that one place, when I said that thing. No sense in being coy about it. :grr:

You're right. I'm sorry for dredging up old business!
