I still don't get why so many of you guys suffer from such a hatred for the official forums. Sure, this place is really nice and friendly, but if I want upto date info and indepth game discussions I usually go there. (No offense to any of the math wizards around here. But for every knowledgable player here, there are ten on the offical forums.)
Oh and Inertial, give us a link to your post so we can go over there and flame you :p

I think the official forums suffer from too many preconceptions and pseudo-science. For every ten knowledgable people on the official forum, there are fifty whose numbers are bunk.
The people who know their stuff know their stuff. Unlike here, however, those who DON'T know anything mouth off constantly.

Meh...I actually like the official forums. They're still a helluva lot better than the cesspool that is the WoW forums.

Well, I DO post there. I just mainly peruse the Dev Digest these days, though, and maybe look in Player Questions and try to give some answers.
In all honesty, both this board and the official one go through cycles. It's always really bad right around releases, and then eventually it calms down.

They're fun to read...in that "Car wreck on the highway" sort of way. Hell I still go over there, makes me feel better about my own life :D.

My problem is the relative anonymity. Unless you're a 100 post a day type, your opinions are essentially lost. So there's not that much point in saying anything.

I origionally started on the official forums, but there were so many posts going on each day i couldn't keep up, so i just went to some semi-independant forums and eventually found my way here.
Now i'm going to stay here because nothing is as up-tight and official as the official forums.

I fear I'm part of the problem.

There is a reall good way around this, snazzy avatars. :)
My opinions are ten times more valued then the guy next to me with an uncool avatar because of this beauty. ;)

Just pulling your legs, I do not mind the offical boards, some incrediblly talented people frequent them and not to mention the developers themselvesm.
Its a beautifull to PM statesman and get a reply awnsering your question. :)

The official boards are good for 2 reasons:
1) Dev Digest. If you are the kind of person who hates browsing through endless pages of crap looking for official word on something, this is for you. Like many of you, I couldn't care less about whatever complaint a bunch of players who can't spell are going on and on about. It's the red names and their info I'm usually after.
2) Player Guides. They are the one upside to player-written content. Occasionally I'll find myself needing to learn more about some aspect of the game I haven't fully explored. Fortunately in most cases, someone else has already done the homework. For example, in the past few months, I have found myself needing info on emotes, bases, and power recommendations for an archetype I don't usually play. The player guides have come through for me every time.

Yes you are. :P
I on the other hand, make the official forums a place of beauty and tranquility.... unless some dimbulb opens their hole. :D
the Forum Cartel does not exist ;)
On some days I just go there because these forums aren't as hot as they were the day before. Some of the conversations there are hilarious. Plus, if you browse around enough you find interesting little tidbits from the Devs.

I very rarely post there anymore. Maybe to show some art and that's it. To put it simply I hate how they treat one another, specially new people.
