Ok, so I have this alt and I made my own special SG for him, I'm considering opening it up to the public here, gauging interest and such.

This is on the Virtue server.

Basically I can sum this alt/group up as a simple homage to the Galaxy Rangers. I have 4 of the DVDs, I loved this show when I was a kid, but, as I said, this is an homage, not a xerox copy.

Instead of being a space lawman, my alt is simply a Rhode Island Sheriff.

The group is the Rhode Island Sheriff Corps (R.I.S.C.)

Basically I was thinking of having there be badge requirements to get a Sheriff's badge, and possibly costume requirements, as follows:

Costume prereqs:
1. No masks, Sheriffs are public servants not costumed vigilantes.
2. Must have a badge-esque symbol somewhere on one of your costumes, I use the gear emblem with the big gear blending into my chest color and the little gear in gold, the segmented belt with a gold buckle would also work, or a jacket with the star 6 emblem on it, stuff like that.

Badge prereqs:
1. Just said no to Superdine - a good cop keeps his nose clean.
History badge using plaques found in Steel, Skyway, Faultline, Boomtown.
2. Negotiator - knowing when to shoot and when not to is important.
Accomplishment badge, mission is clockwork in a skulls warehouse(levels 5-10 tech)
3. Volunteer Firefighter - public service is crucial
Help battle a fire in Steel Canyon, I got this in like 2 minutes by fighting the Hellions at the scene.
4. Blue Shield - Exploration, Galaxy City badge, 80yds E of Orion Beltway dot behind "They Are Among Us" billboard

These badges are relatively easy to acquire, and can be had by level 15, I'm thinking folks could come on as deputies(members) until they get all these badges and then they can be promoted through the ranks.

I don't think I'll require a specific origin or archetypes, just that they were some sort of law enforcement person somewhere, another state, another country, planet, whatever. So Martian Manhunter concepts, Green Lantern corps concepts are fine, just so long as they aren't blatant copies. And no l337 spellings.

The bottom line, folks may ask, 'what is in it for me?'. First is the concept, do you remember the rangers? Do you like law enforcement? Did you have a Marshal/Sheriff/Mountie concept you wanted to try out?

Also there's strategies and tactics and such. I've been accumulating temp power info like is on cohonline and am considering putting up a site that has that, I could incorporate that info to a home page for this place, I can't do fancy flash animation and stuff, but meh.

If play times are a consideration, I am in the Eastern Time Zone (GMT -5 hours), and usually play after 8pm to about 10pm, my time, Mon-Wed, and sparatically throughout the weekend.

Update, added a Crey profile here (http://www.creyindustries.com/viewhero.php?id=18597)

And reference material for the Galaxy Rangers check here (http://www.loony-archivist.com/rangers/)

Yes, if vehicles make it in game I'm petitioning a robosteed.

Theme song can be found here (home.comcast.net/~fuzzyweis/rangers.mp3)

second theme song can be found here (home.comcast.net/~fuzzyweis/bridges.mp3)

I've already started on a base, only enough for the control and power rooms at the moment, but it does have a jail cell, shown in these shots:

I love this consept...when can i start ;)

I will be unable to enter the base, but i can get prestige up. I don't exactly know how to get blue shield badge, and the firefighter will take a little work, but i can do it. I'm @taxibot37 so look me up, and i'll be happy to join...but just as a varification, this SG is on virtue, correct?

Galaxy Rangers, ho!!!

http://www.phan.org/coh/rangers.JPG

I created them for the 80's cartoon characters Saturday Night Skuffle which never happened. I was originally going to play Doc, but after I created him and he came out so well, I had to do the other three...

Zach - Blaster, Energy/Energy (duh)
Doc - Scrapper, Broadsword/Dark (The sword was a given, being as he's a master fencer -- from Miss Abercrombie's Charm School. That left only the Secondary. I chose Dark to represent the tweakers flying around and being a distraction)
Niko - Defender, Force Field/Psychic (duh again)
Gooseman - Tanker, Earth/Fire (Goose's bio defenses are hard to implement without Shape Change, but typically he changes into crystalline forms anyway -- or metal. That left his Secondary, which I decided on by using Kilbane as an example, who once turned his hand into flame)

Whoops, forgot to mention, yes the group is on Virtue, The skuffles I think happen on Champion? I'll look for you in game Dinacka.

I'll update the first post with badge locations, obtainment.

Jade, any of those folks on Virtue? :naughty:

edit, just kidding about those characters in particular Jade, but one like them, for example I pattern my character after Zachary Foxx, but instead of a bionic arm and leg he has a bionic arm and eye, with electric blasts.(they called his blast a 'thunderbolt', so I figured electric would fit good)

And I have a whole COH backstory for him, he was in the war, got injured, etc.

So it's a similar concept, but not an exact replica kinda deal, I don't want to get generichero'd or have anyone else be.

ok, i just looked at all of the links you provided us, and for one thing, i like the first theme song better, but i heard the word "rangers" more in the second song.

Anyways, now that that is said, next order of business: I know you want it to be a sheriff/ranger style look, but what exactly are we aiming at? or is it just anything that fits the sheriff/ranger definition?

I read that there's no masks, and must have a badge-esque emblem...but what about designs otherwise? certain colors? (or will the colors be covered by just the SG colors?) stuff like that.

Also, what should the names be in the general direction of? are we supposed to put an "officer," "ranger," etc.? or just have anything? (other than the obvious no 1337 $p33k named, and ones insulting someone/something)

Other than those few things, i'll get right on starting the toon as soon as i get an answer :) thanks!

The colors can be covered by the sg, other than the badge deal I'd like folks to have their own liberties with their costumes. A western theme is welcome of course ;) Same goes for the name, the SG ranks are deputy through sheriff so no need to have them in the name unless you want to.

ok, cool. Oh, and one last question before i jump on and create my guy, what type of powers do you want us to have? or can it be anything?
