Gotta say, I was a tad dissappointed. Jayne looked a little smarter and a little less funnier than the TV series. The whole thing seemed a little more Hollywood than the original series. I think I'm going to prepare to be dissappointed.

Is this a "Firefly" movie? I never actually watched the series but I think I recognize one of the guys in the preview, same guy who was in that terrible "A Knight's Tale" movie.

SWEET! (<-former firefly addict) I've been hearing since the series was cancelled by the Arses that Be that there would be a movie, but i hadn't seen anything till now. Thanks!
Not sure if Jayne is smarter or not, he's only got, what, two lines in the trailer.... at least Wash is his usual wisecracking self. Looks like River gets to paste some baddies....
Hmm. Well, i'll certainly give it a shot. Might be good, might be bad, but hey, i'll let them try. ;)

I think this looks awsome. I hated the show when it was on TV, but then a friend gave me the DVD set, and I Saw the show in order, which made a huge difference. It was great. And this looks cool, I was hoping that the movie would follow this plot.

Giving this thread a big time bump

I had never even heard of the show 'Firefly', but my brother (who also had never seen it) bought me the DvD set last Xmas based on the recommendation of a friend. It was one the best presents I ever got. The show is fantastic, not because it's a space story that feels like a western (though that is pretty cool itself), but because the characters are so well drawn and acted, and the story telling was thoroughly entertaining. This DvD set ranks pretty high on my list of all-time best seasons of a television show.

So I am hoping the movie is a) a worthy continuation of the fine story telling to date and b) a significant box-office success, because if this one does well, they'll be greenlighted to make 2 more movies.

I'm going Friday - can't wait. :)

I'm going Friday - can't wait. :)

I have some friends that are going to the midnight showing (that's tonight/tomorrow). I SOOOOO wish I could join them, but I am forced to be a responsible adult and parent, so it's a no go.

However, my wife and I are planning a big get together with some friends to go watch it in a week or two.

Yep. Like others I actually mainly saw the show via DVD set from a friend. The wife and I actually watched the first three episodes during original airing on TV - but then missed the others due to scheduling problems. She and I will definatley be going to see this one (eventually -- kids and all tend to slow down when we actually SEE the movies we want to see). :)

me and the wifey are trying to find a babysitter for our little one to go see this. I'm such a hopeless addict I watch the dvd box set back to back over a weekend every so often.

"A Knight's Tale" is awesome. Shut your mouth. :(

I guess if you like 14th century European knights singing Queen songs and wearing Nike-brand platemail, then yeah "A Knight's Tale" is awesome.

"Serenity" looks cool though. Gonna go tomorrow most likely.

I like it about as much as space-faring cowboys riding horses and using six-shooters, yeah. ;)
