It's a shame. David's no slouch, but I was really looking forward to an old school, fun take on Spidey. Even the title screams for Waid to write.

What, you don't think PAD can do fun? Did you read Captain Marvel or X-Factor? ;)
But yeah, I would prefer Waid on Spidey. Though this makes two of my favourite authors currently working on Spidey titles.

Oh PAD can write a great funny book, but Waid's one of the few writers who can write book that screams back to it's Silver/Marvel Age roots, without seeming stale, and...I dunno, corny. Kinda like he did with the Fantastic Four.
It's hard to explain, but do you see what I'm geting at?

Yeah, I getcha. I loved his recent FF run. New ideas without pouring angst and leather all over the old.
