Thats what the men sent by Sebastian Kain read on the crypt before they broke into it and remover the corpse of Jed. The orders were simple, remove the body intact, and transport to a specified location.
Jed would be the first, the first to be brought back, if everything went according to plan who better to help ease the others into their new reality than their old advisor and friend, someones whos advise was always trusted. At least thats what Sebastian Kain hoped for, but not all things go as planned.
The Resurrection ritual started, Sebastian instructed the Mystics to ensure success at all cost, and did not want to know the details of the ritual, his way of avoiding the reality of the evil forces being used. Unknown to him, the Mystics enlisted the aid of several Circle of Thorns mages whos knowledge of resurrection rituals would ensure success, but they had their own agenda. The CoT truh their connections with the evil forces that warp our world knew of Sebastians plans, and some of his most guarded secrets. They would use this opportunity to bring to fruition the true purpose of the demonic forces that Sebastian struggles with. The ritual began with the sacrifice of 3 young women, their blood fed to the corpse of Jed Attaway as the Mages and Mystics chanted their spells and encantations.
"Ashta-Hani, Ashta-Hani, Ashta-Hani" kept saying the mages as they called forward the powers of darkness. They were calling for the demon known to them as Ashta-Hani, an ancient demon that had some sort of connection with Sebastians darker side. Ashta-Hani was known in acient times as a demon of deception, a manipulator who would feed on the hate of inocents and amplify their anger or desires to exploit their weekneses. Power seemed to drive him, always seeking more and more power, attracted and obssesed by it. He would feed on an aspect of the hatred of those he possesed and amplify it, making this his supernatural power on the Earthly realm. Jeds death had left his spirit an easy victim. Poisoned as he was his spirit did not rest, and Ashta-Hani was able to easily take control of his soul, and his body, feeding on his hate and the anger for what was done to him, the poison that still wreaked within his body would serve as his power, he would use it, amplify it and use it to bring pain and suffering to all that he could.
The riual was a success, Jed Attaway was ressurected. His body repaired due to the sacrifice of the young girls, looking just as he did when he lsast took a breath. His memories intact, his soul still within, but not in control, for now Ashta-Hani possesed this body.
Immediatelly the demon began doing what he did best, deceive. Sebastian was eager to meet with Jed, and soon after the ritual the two got together. Jed fed him all the right lines, talking about old times and all manner of things Sebastian would expect to hear from the old Jed. At the same time Jed seemed courious about many things, specially technology, he said that what happened to him made him realize he needed to take a more direct approach to the events unfolding, specially if he was to be of any use to Sebastian. In reality, the demon within had noticed the power that technology in this new era reprsented and was immediatelly atracted to it. Sebastian was sceptical at first, this was not like the old Jed, but then again, he had gone truh a lot and Jed made a good argument. Somethig in Sebastian knew, something told him not to trust him, but he did all the same.
Jed began working restlessly on gathering resourses, and technologies, ofthen by any means neccessary, from purshase, to industrial espionage and thivery, to extortion and murder. He knew it was only a matter of time untill Sebastian noticed and stoped him. He had to wait untill the others were resurrected before Sebastian would find out the truth, he needed the others to be strong enough to take on Sebastians Organization, so for now he needed a place of operations away from Sebastian.
He developed a suit of Power Armor, thru which he could both channel and amplify the Poisons that his body controlled, and also utilize many of the stolen technology like the teleportation technology taken from Portal corps, and Stealth and weapon technology taken from Cray Industries. With this suit of Armor he adopted his new villian persona, he called himself Commander Rancid.
He would build himself an army of robotic soldiers, after all they would be 100% loyal and never question his authority. The teleportation device on his suit would allow him to teleport this robotic soldiers to his side when needed. He would need more money, lots more money in order to accomplish this, so Commander Rancid began stealing from banks, as well as selling weapons in the black market. A contingency plan was needed for when Sebastian would find out about him, and he knew that he would. The perfect place, with the resources and ease of use would be his old company, the old family oil business.
Commander Rancid teleported into the office of a surprised Josiah Attaway.
