Here's a thread for us to talk about what went on on our Twisted Tuesdays.

Personally I'd just like to thank you guys for coming to each Twisted Tuesday making them such fun and something I look forward to.

Possible Idea: We can alternate each week on who takes note of the events of Twisted Tuesday, and that person can do a summary for those who weren't there. Otherwise, we can just have everyone who was there add whatever they thought was interesting.

Brief list of events for the Twisted Tuesday of 11/01/05

I showed up as Aether first and we played around with the costume colors a little. The team was blinded by my temporary color pick of bright blue and green.

Fought some freaks. Got to the boss.... the infamous PwNxx0rz! We pwnd him.

Noirbot showed up and made fun of Nyx's clothes, Suede's intelligence, and R4-CHEL for not being a real girl.

Everyone actually got a paycheck! (in the form of some L50ish SOs :))

Didn't tally it up but we earned thousands of prestige for the team!

Sorry I've been missing that as of late.:( Things get hectic especially at the start of the month. Think but not sure, Father Thomas missed that badge too on the Freak leader.

This past Twisted Tuesday we (Suede, Squire Obsidian, Nyx, R4-CHEL and Noirbot) got together to do the Transcendence Trial. Went pretty well, (despite some issues with counting) and we had a good time.
I'd like to thank the 3 other heroes that helped us, but I can only remember Green Wiggly, 'cause her name is not really just 2 adjectives cause Wiggly is a noun for something....

Our next goal is to get through the Striga missions and do the task forces there.

So is everyone free for a Twisted Tuesday tomorrow or are y'all busy with holiday stuff? I'll be free.

I was thinking we'd partake in the game holiday events (get everyone their hats, badges, etc) and then we can take it from there.

the_starcrosser
12-20-2005, 03:37 AM
I personally would LOVE partaking in the game holiday events. I won't be able to get online until 8:30 pacific at the earliest, but if anyone's still around then, I'd love to. Our store has late holiday hours this week, which makes suede cry little suedey tears. I would have mentioned the scheduling difficulties a lot earlier, but i'm not quite the most on-the-ball person. (Usually i'm more "under the ball" or "squashed on the side of the ball")
Nyx will also be late. :p

The Toy Collector Badge is the longest one to get. Gather up 100 nice presents and you get this badge accolade.
Boomer got it last night after 3 to 4 hours of running around Galaxy City.
The 12 characters I play mostly have all gotten their hats and the second holiday badge already.

Sometime we have to get our three firefighting badges and the two rave badges.

Father Thomas has a respec to do.

Aether

We're going to be trying for the Respec trial at tomorrow's Twisted Tuesday.

Woot! We'll be there with bells on, whatever that might have once meant. And no more "holiday schedule" at work.

Aether

Jade, Elemento and I are on now. Is anyone else coming to the respec?

the_starcrosser

Yes! just got in.

Aether

Going to try for the Respec again tonight. Please show up as early as you can so we can get it all organized.

(Apparently someone or something got into Noirbot's databanks with misinformation. He obviously was suffering from some virus and couldn't process clearly.
Evidence of this was his attempt at making a few dance moves in the reactor. Totally uncharacteristic of him.
The respec no matter which number it is, is successful only if levels aren't too far apart. We had that right. We even had the right amount of people minimum.
The other condition is that whoever starts the Trial needs to check their difficulty to see that it is the lowest possible which is heroic.
It does make a difference in the number of nme fought in the Trial. Instead of two bots for instance at the same place, there'd be only one or none. The higher the difficulty, the more nme encountered.
Not positive who programmed Noirbot last night but obviously a ploy to undermine our organization. There is talk only rumors of course that kickbacks from the Sky Raiders are floating around.

(4L4N M1DN1T3 had nothing to do with it. Nothing at all. Honest. It's just coincidence that I decided to bow out to do some levelling over on the villain side...)

(I'll be around for this Tuesday, unless you're planning the respec again. Alan's no closer to 24 than he was 2 weeks ago. :D)

Aether

Sorry I didn't show up last night. I wasn't feeling well and I fell asleep. Have a bit of a fever, called in sick today. Maybe we can try again later this week.

the_starcrosser
01-19-2006, 05:30 AM
D: Oh noes! Feel better soon! Orange juice and chicken soup and lots of rest! :( No worries, we just sort of hung around, Nyx and i ran a mission or two. I got out of that last bit of debt.
Might actually be free saturday evening, for once, if anyone wants to do anything. :3

I just soloed Tue. with FT. I told Suede that the Family is behind this insidious plot to undermine our organization.

First, someone managed to switch input data tapes on Noirbot and we all saw what happened last week from that. His wires were crossed like someone gave him a virus.

Second, Pepe was fed a wrong passport. Think that's how he got shipped to Virtue instead of Pinnacle.

Third, you're sick and we all know it couldn't be something Nyx placed in your food so it has to be the Family.
We all trust Nyx, don't we? O_o :look:

Ever since you took on Striga goons, we've been getting nasty e-mails at the base. Unfortunately we have been unable to trace them yet.

Aether
01-20-2006, 10:44 PM
Feeling a bit better today. Fever's gone, but my throat still hurts. I figure it must have been some infection in my throat, 'cause that was my only other symptom.

I'll probably be free this weekend. I doubt I'll be going anywhere, just gonna give myself some extra recupe time. If enough of us aren't busy we can try it again.

I had a feeling it might have been the Family behind all this. Once, just one time, I said that their spaghetti sauce didn't taste homemade and they've had it in for me ever since.

Elemento
01-20-2006, 11:55 PM
Beginning to think they also had Noirbot framed for those baby incidents with the Paragon Police.
It's just too pat a frame job not to notice that.
Hard part for us with Noirbot's prior history is to prove that. Need to find evidence.
Wish my runner was still in the game.

ooc:Razordragoon's character was like a courier for Father Thomas at the church.
I have not seen him in quite some time.

Nyx

GRAH!!!

... *glances around*

I would like to issue an apology for the way I left the respec TF on Tuesday night. I'm sure I disappointed some people, and probably left a rather bad taste in the mouths of the heroes who joined us. I was frustrated beyond all belief, and while that's not really an excuse to go storming off, it is my reason for it.

I guess I'm just a little too accustomed to relative success in this game. I'm a good controller and know it -- I'm used to staying alive, keeping other people alive, and heck, sometimes even preventing the need for a healer, let alone a trip to the hospital or the use of an awaken. So you can imagine it grates on me to be unable to hit anything (except for the rare occassion which, amazingly, seems to get me a bit of aggro, which is unhealthy for me because I can't defend myself because -- oh yeah -- I can't HIT anything....), as well as being unable to help my team at all.

I didn't really enjoy having the others there either... besides that it screwed up the levels so that we couldn't find a suitable arrangement for everyone, it also messed up the team dynamic. I'm not saying we shouldn't ever pick up joiners. I'm just saying that wasn't our best pick up team. We had too many, I think, and of incompatible levels.

Note that this is not an apology for leaving the TF. I was no help to the team, and neither was my attitude toward the whole thing, and I'll be more pleasant to be around if I can stop accumulating debt so quickly and work it off. (I dislike debt. I simply don't have the mindset to just shrug and ignore it.) This is more an apology for being in a snit, and for probably taking the whole thing too seriously.

Aether

I was on the edge of frustration too Nyx, so don't sweat it too much. I was feeling pretty useless too and on top of that was getting nothing out of it. Hardly any fun, no xp, no prestige. Was starting to feel like a big waste of time.

I didn't realize the level spread amongst the members was so high when I agreed to merge with Zippa and co. They were pretty good players so that wasn't the prob, we were just facing mobs way too high for our avg.

I figure we need a week or so to do something else. Get out of debt, make a level or two and then we'll try again some time. I think we can do it with just us 4 (or 5 with Alan)

Jade_Dragon
01-25-2006, 11:41 PM
Well, I was just completely offline last night, I intended to try to make it, but things came up, and I didn't even get a chance to play at all. But Alan still can't make a respec TF until I can get him some more levels. :D

Elemento
01-26-2006, 12:10 AM
If someone would've only listened to me in the respec, but noooooooooooooooooo!!! :grumble:
The proper way of doing that was for exemplaring to take place. Had the lower levels exemplared the higher levels, the problem of no XP or prestige would've been moot.
We had plenty of lvl 24s. Problem was the big mouth on their team who kept insisting on SKing.
That wasn't the only problem. They had a 33 on their team.
Disparity in levels allows for disaster every time.

The 27s SKing wasn't all bad but when their 33 started SKing, everything went down the crapper. :waiting: :cuss:

Even I at lvl 27 had some problems. My Deceive which is usually right on, was missing on target. My Phantom Army sometimes was just standing around like mannequins looking at us battle. :grr:

Another Twisted Tuesday tonight. No hard plans, just not doing a TF :). Just some mission running and some RPing.

Edit: Holy crap, I'm a day behind. Did anyone show last night....
I'm a mess.

Nyx
02-02-2006, 04:16 AM

Elemento

Not exactly. I was playing Pinnacle too not that anyone notices an old shadow. :)

Did notice you earlier in the day though on Tuesday playing your villain, Aether.

Aether
02-03-2006, 03:21 AM
Yup, played my villain and then signed off not even realizing it was Tuesday already.

I'd set something up for later this week/end but I don't think I'll have much time. Busy on Saturday, Super Bowl party on Sunday. Tomorrow might be free..?

Aether: I was at the Paragonian Knights one year anniversary as my Paragonian Knight last Sunday, and I made representation of SGI there. Grae Knight thanks go out to SGI.

Nyx: I contacted Ragnarok about his current situation and here is his reply.
Hey Dan,

I'm so glad that you are maintaining PAYROLL. My
computer is still on the fritz and unable to run. I'm
not planning on closing my account "EVER" so no
worries. I still plan on getting back into CoH's, I
just need a new computer. My old work horse of a
desktop just isn't working at all and stuck using my
roomates computer, only to check emails. I'm stil
trying to get around to purchasing a new one,
hopefully soon. Please keep PAYROLL going on Virtue
server. Let Ryder know that I'm still in the loop and
inform him of my current situation and to please
maintain tabs on me. I don't want to loose contact
with either of you two. You've been there since the
beginning. Let Nyx know to sit tight, like I said, my
computer isn't running at all. It's just not working
and it's very old-> Pentium III 600 and was on it's
last leg since CoH beta. I really pushed it to it's
limits, went through two video cards, a hard drive and
dropped a 256 stick of RAM like a bad habit in the
process. It's just done. It went to that big junk pile
in the sky. lol. Once I get a new system, I plan on
salvaging the hard drive so I don't loose any old deta
for the website, hense why I haven't been able to
update it.

Keep in touch.

Having a grand old time killing wookalopes - err, Tuatha de Danan.... On another note, we're thinking of planning a Lowbie Night one of these nights, the target level will be around 10 or a little lower, so if anyone's got any alts in that range or alt ideas they wanna start, that'd be a good time to get them together.
Aether's bringing up a strapping little tank, i've got an emp defender, nyx has a katana scrapper or something, and we're open to anythin' else. :D Anyone have ideas?

Pinnacle... hm... I think there's a copy of Bloodwolf hanging around there. Unfortunately, Pinnacle's Sandy switched to the villain side.

Most of my lowbies are all villains. :D (And I still want to get together with Noirbot and start a VG over there)

Aether

I'm all for Lowbie night. Whenever you guys would like to do it either as an addition to our replacement for a Twisted Tuesday. We can have it as soon as next week if we get enough characters.

That's right, you created villain Noirbot in Beta. I hadn't realized you didn't carry him over into the release.

It's all right, there's no hurry. Until we get more folks into CoV we don't need an SG for them, I just wanted to make sure it's around when they do. I don't even know if I can come up with a good name for it. :D

BTW, unless I have a brain hiccup and forget it's Tuesday again, I should be around for the Twisted Tuesday tonight.

Sorry I got caught up doing other things last night and lost track of time. By the time I realized It was too late and I was dead tire. Free any other nights this week? We'll give our lowbies a shot.

You don't really have to worry too much about rent Elemento. As far as I know the worst thing that happens is if you don't pay after a long time they lock you out, which you can fix by just paying the rent once.

Jade_Dragon
04-12-2006, 06:11 PM
Well, it turns out I don't have a version of Bloodwolf on Pinnacle after all. I must have deleted him because I couldn't get the name Bloodwolf, only Blood Wolf. (I know that because I did get Sandy, and I was never able to get both Sandy and Bloodwolf on the same server. On Justice, where I got Bloodwolf, she is Sandy Jensen)

Anyway, that means I'll have to start a new character as a lowbie. Right now, Rachel is my lowbie, and she's 21. :D (But we did get to level her a bit last night)

Jade_Dragon
04-19-2006, 06:31 PM
Well, as you now know, I went with a D&D character. I'm going to have to work his ferrets in there somewhere, maybe I'll get Challenge for pulling (Taunt doesn't make a good pull) and say it's the ferrets stealing something and running back with it.

He's also going to have Stealth (got level 6 so I went ahead and got it) which should be interesting for a Tanker. I'll probably turn it on while scouting around and then turn it off while fighting. Which I don't usually do with stealth characters.

Father Thomas is lookin for anyone with the Burkholder TF, then will be doing Citadel, followed by Moonfire

The good news is, I was REALLY impressed by the way CoH looked with the new graphics card. I've got some great stories about my troubles and travails with setting up the new system, but I'll post that in another thread. Don't want to clutter up this one. :D

Aether
05-25-2006, 12:02 AM
Sorry I missed you guys last night, I was busy with some other things.

I did get around to playing during the Recluse's Victory event going on in the Training Room today though.

At first I was a little reluctant 'cause I'm not very into PVP, but I'll tell you I had a lot of fun. There really weren't a lot of jerks it seemed. Whenever I had a good long battle with someone I'd congratulate them no matter which one of us won. It's a Hero vs Villain zone so there is oppurtunity for RP and at least there are some people you can trust. There were some good fights and I'll tell you that controllers are something to fear, especially in pairs, and if a blaster wanders by it's all over for you. I also had a couple of drawn out battles with a Tank, which I was only able to take 'cause I had my Heavy with me.

The zone is really something else. If you haven't heard about it, the objective is to capture a number of "pillboxes" or fortresses. Each fortress has 4 turrets guarding them. So you have to defeat those turrets, which also usually entails fighting off some other players too. Then you go to a control panel in the middle and click away and now your side controls that pillbox. And as long as you're near the control panel you can control all the turrets yourself as pets.

Another major feature of the zone are the "Heavies." These are robots that you can claim as your own pet. I'm not sure if I discovered all of their launching pads but each side gets about 3-4 of them. The control for them is exactly like the controls a Mastermind has for his henchmen, if you've played on of them. The only difference is that the Heavies are of an "Elite Boss" level, so they can take and dish out a lot of damage. I never had one of mine destroyed except when I died, at which point you lose control over them and then they respawn back at their pads. The bad part is that only a limited few can have Heavies, because once someone liberates one from a pad, it won't respawn until it's destroyed or the operator gets defeated.

The artwork for the zone changes depending upon which side is controlling more pillboxes. I didn't really get to see it fully in action because there seemed to be a lot more villains in the zone I was playing than heroes (I too was a villain). The neutral look is of a bit dilapidated Atlas Park, it's similar to the one we now but a bit more run down. When the villains start winning it gets drearier and drearier, with Atlas being replaced by a huge Lord Recluse. Like so:
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c256/naisvb/CoH/RecluseMed.jpg

I'd imagine it gets all shiny and happy times when the heroes win. I think I'll probably join in the fun with a hero later today. Any character you create on test today gets leveled up to L40 for testing purposes. You just have to talk to the trainers in the base you start off in when you enter the game.he only zone available on test right now is Recluse's Victory.

Anyway, if anyone wants to give it a shot, give me a holler. My global name on the test server is also @Aether. It may be a little tricky getting to play together since last I saw there were about 20 seperate instances of the zone, but we could work something out.

If you guys want to have another play time maybe Thursday or Saturday night I'm down with that too, let me know.

I will probably give it a try tonight, if I can get in with any of the other Guruites. Which side I choose will probably depend on who is winning, if the heroes are in control, Bloodwolf will have to go in there and "bring things back into balance". :D If it is still as you reported, however, and the villains are outnumbering the heroes, Bloodwolf will take the heroes' side.

Then again, I want to bring my other characters in as well. For one thing, I've been wanting to turn Blue Diamond loose in a PvP zone for a while. :D

Anyway, if you're online, I'll try and get in contact with you. I think my global on Test is @Sandy, however. I'm not sure why it gave me that name and not Jade Dragon, but for some reason, I can't change it, either.

Finished off Burkholder for Father Thomas.
Father Thomas is on Moonfire TF currently.

Formed a couple coalitions with SGI. One is with a fellow guru here, Razoras.
His SG is comprised now of only three members. It's called The Super Secret Squirrel Brigade.
The other SG are The Immortals of Paragon led by Odacer the Immortal.

It was getting hard to find people for help with trials or task forces til I found this group. Most teams you get on you end up outleveling your story arcs if you team too much. I being a casual player like to do my story arcs with all my characters. I only request help with trials, task forces, and the occasional elite boss.

Having other SGs to communicate with I feel is an opportunity to meet more people on Pinnacle.

It shouldn't have asked you for a login name. Email customer support and ask them to make sure that you haven't created two different accounts for CoH and CoV, and if you have, combine them.

You should have clicked on the "Upgrade" button that appears next to your CoH account. If you did that, then it must have glitched or something.

Well, I did manage to get Alan Midnight to 26 last night, after the gang broke up. It's not as hard to get 2 bars at 26 as at 29. :D So I went to level up and found that once again I have no idea what to pick. Ignite, (yet another dropped weapon along with my Caltrops) Assault, (so I can pick up Tactics later, and help you guys with my superhuman perception and memory recall :D) or maybe some other power that I might have talked about earlier and forgotten now? What do you think?

([edit] My previous suggestions were Intimidate (picking up Challenge first) and Beanbag. I still don't like Beanbag any more than I did last time, and there is also Weave -- I do have Boxing and Tough now -- but then Manuevers would probably help the team more)

(I guess again it comes down to do I want to spend the Endurance on Leadership when I already have enough trouble with End use, or just go with Ignite. One or the other)

Aether
08-02-2006, 10:05 PM
I think the leadership can wait until later, particularly when you can pump more END SOs into them so it's not so bad a burden. So I'd recommend going with Ignite for now, if there's nothing else you're considering.

Mmm, nicely baked pumpkin pie. You just have to pick the Caltrops out of it...

I'm still not sure about Ignite. I had almost worked my way up to getting Weave, since Alan's shtick is supposed to be his superior perception given to him by his implant. But I think Ignite worked okay, and will probably be better once it's slotted with some damage.

I was REALLY slow throwing the Caltrops, though, which under the circumstances wasn't a good thing. I'm hoping I get used to the new keybind arrangement, but I don't know if I shouldn't have taken Weave after all...

Aether

Agreed. We got the plans worked out nicely and quickly became a pumpkin mashing machine. I wouldn't be totally against trying it again but I do think the mission lasts longer than it needs to.

I rearranged the SGI base a bit to include the new rooms and items they added. It was a big help and I was able to keep everything we had as well as release some 600000 influence. That along with the 25% prestige earning increase and we should be on our way to having a fun, usable base.

I also used a combo of Aether's and Wolf's salvage to make a telepad which I'll be putting in the base as soon as I build a Teleporter room. We already have some beacons too so we can pick a convenient zone to link the pad to.

Well, the point was to take out most of them before they got to me. Ensuring that any that DID get past were baked potatoes... er, pumpkins.

It was the two or three times that a whole group suddenly activated and charged at me that it was clear just how well you guys were doing holding them back. I was barely able to hold them with Caltrops, and resorted to just repeatedly firing knockbacks into the groups near the gate, hoping to keep knocking them away from it.

I can guess that without a strict strategy, 30 can get past you in just the blink of any eye. So it's no wonder it's an unpopular mission. :D

Yay! I've been looking forward to seeing a telepad.

Which reminds me, we need to either make it so Freelance can put stuff into storage, or bump Rache up to the next level. Not Shade, but the Lieutenant level, which I think you haven't named yet. You might even do the same with the other Freelancers. Rache has plenty of Salvage she can put in the storage, though, as does Alan. (He can store it, since he's a Shade, but I've been holding onto it for the moment)

Rache also has an Enhancement I'd like to store in the base, as well as one I'd like to pass to her from Alan.

As a matter of fact I do, but I'm going to give Ignite a chance first. I could use the additional damage, but it really concerns me that I have to fire it off so often. One more attack in my sequence really isn't going to increase my damage if it means I could have made another attack in that time.

Maybe I need to think about Assault and Manuevers again. It's the lack of a damage buff like Aim that Ignite is supposed to make up for. Quite frankly, at this point I'm leaving it like it is because I haven't the foggiest idea what I really want to do...

08-30-2006, 10:37 PM
Well, maybe next time I'll remember to turn Tough on. But then, if I'd been spending the Endurance for it, I probably wouldn't have had it to attack. So in the end, I think it was all okay.

I did like my new keybind that I mentioned, and it was working well. I basically Alt-click to drop Caltrops, and when I picked up Ignite I worried over whether to replace it as the Alt-click power. Then last night I came up with a bind that will switch between Caltrops and Ignite when I press \. So all that time I was switching between Caltrops and Ignite and throwing them both as the situation called for it. I think it worked out well.

I still don't know, though. When time came to level, I thought I might put more damage in Ignite, but it's really more a barrier, like Caltrops. So I put the slots in Flamethrower instead, and left Ignite with one slot, again like Caltrops. I'm afraid it's just not the substitution for Aim/Build Up I thought it was intended to be. Instead, it seems to be the Caltrops for those who don't have Caltrops. And I have Caltrops...

Just thought I'd drop in here with a short story, I was considering which I am going to take at level 26 with R4-CHL, Focus or Eviscerate, and the thought suddenly occured to me, "Wait, I don't really use Slash that much. Most of my attack chain is build around Follow Up, Strike, and Spin. Slash does about the same damage as Strike and Spin, and the Def debuff isn't really that useful. So why don't I respec out of Slash, and pick up Focus?"

Unfortunately, as I started to try out the respec, I realized there was a flaw in this plan: At level 2, when I previously picked up Slash, I have only Swipe, Slash, and Temp Invulnerability open. Strike and Resist Physical were already taken, at level 1. Swipe wouldn't be any better than Slash, overall, so that leaves TI.

The problem is, I designed Rachel around the concept of not having TI. Dull Pain (repair circuits) and Invincibility (agility) were supposed to be her primary defense, she isn't "really" Invulnerable. More like SR with heal. If I'd been stopped at level 4 instead of 2 everything would be all right, as that's when I took Dull Pain. I don't want to drop Dull Pain for TI, though, as that's essentially Blue Diamond's build, and I wanted Rachel to be DIFFERENT from him, so she wouldn't just play the same.

I think I'll leave things as-is, after all, there's 25 levels left, and Rache will be turning into a damage monster soon enough. 28 is set aside for Invincibility, finally, but there is both 26 and 30, and 32 when Shockwave opens up. I think I will go with Eviscerate at 26, it does more damage and hits more targets than Focus, besides. I can wait until 30 or 32 to get a ranged attack.

I thought I would post this in case someone wanted to comment, though. Maybe Shardre, having a lot of ranged attacks as well, has some insight into where that might be useful. Or, maybe I want to stay away from ranged attacks in order to be more unique. The martial artists in the SG have single target damage covered, Shardre and Rache I guess are our AoE specialists. And as I said, Eviscerate isn't ranged, but it is a melee cone.

Everyone was very friendly and you guys are great players!

I will be posting an application real soon for the Green Gaze.

Jade_Dragon
09-06-2006, 05:07 PM
Glad to have you on board, Fantasmo. I think Green Gaze could fit in with the SG concept, even as-is, for one thing the name and your macro certainly suggest a character that is perceptive and watchful, a guardian or sentinel type. Maybe some of the other guys have some suggestions too. (He was telling me he was thinking of redesigning the costume, before you guys showed up)

Next week, we'll have to introduce you to Alan. BTW, although I don't have any origin stories for him posted here, the original story on which he and Rache were based is here (http://www.phan.org/ryley/alan/door01.htm).

Anyway, I'm glad I caught you guys, I had actually forgotten it was Tuesday, and was trying to level up Rache to 26 in advance of our meet up. :D I was also trying to get a simultaneous mission out of the way, which is when Green Gaze caught up with me. So if you guys hadn't shown up when you did, I might have just finished the mission and logged out. I hadn't actually planned to be up that long. But it was a blast, as usual, even if I kept getting my robotic butt kicked. :D

I picked up Eviscerate, and even tried it out a few times, the damage isn't fantastic, but it IS a pretty wide arc, so I think that will increase Rachel's AoE damage. There were a couple of times there when I was surrounded when I said "I wish Alan was here, he could AoE these guys." :D I think I've been underestimating her damage because of our level difference, and likely my perception that Alan's damage is low is the same thing.

Anyway, I am still toying with the idea of respec'ing into Focus, but really, that means a LOT of trouble since a respec always means reordering all of my macros which get messed up by a respec. And as many macros as I have that can take a while. Rachel is still awfully fragile, and maybe TI would help with that, but I think I'm going to stick with my plan of getting to 28 and Invincibility. It shouldn't be that important a power, but it is, and that's what the devs decided on, and I'm going to go with it.

o__o can't offer much advice in the Respec area... Rach will probably do a whole lotta megadamage once she catches up (it's harder when you're trying to balance two chars at the same level), but until then, you can always keep adjusting things XD

Well, in some of my solo missions I'm starting to realize what a damage monster she already is. I will definately try to push her and Alan to 28 so they can catch up. But if they trail a few levels behind the rest of you it's no big deal, neither of them are really about mega damage, more of a balance between damage and defending the team. Which in Rachel's case will become a lot easier when she gets Invincibility. (And I built BD's concept around it as well, so I know it's going to help)

Eviscerate is a little weak right now, but with a bit of slotting at 27 it should be okay. And when I slot Invincibility at 29 and 31 she should be pretty close to where I want it.

Oh, and great posts! Was surprised to see Daressey being played, but pretty good so far ^_^ *salute*

Yeah, this should probably go in the other thread, but I "borrowed" Darnessy for three reasons:

1) I wanted someone to give the proper lustful response to Rachel being stripped, and he's already demonstrated he's a pervert, in his treatment of Suede. :D

2) He had been the one to discuss with Johnson whether or not anyone from SGI would come looking for them, so he followed on naturally from that conversation.

and 3) I didn't want to introduce a whole new "doctor" into the mix and complicate the plot. Although I did drop in Dr. Beckett as a name, if not in person. (I'm hoping somebody gets that reference, BTW. :D)

[edit] Oh, yeah, and I double checked the name, and yeah, I did spell it wrong. Sorry about that. :D

:D First of all, Welcome on board, Green Gaze! Prepare for long nights of trekking through dark and gritty streets and dank sewers for little pay except the bittersweet taste of truth and justice.... and the not so sweet taste of 'bell peppers and beef', senza beef. Congrats!

Second, Redcaps suck. IMHO, at least. But we'll give it another shot.
Once we've got everyone up to 30, we'll be able to get the TF. In the meantime, big missions like that can be great for the XP needed to boost the others - just hopefully without entire squadrons of purple bosses.

Third, the Shades of Crey schemes are going nicely. If anyone wants to join Alan Midnight on the outside for the rescue attempt and attack on the Crey lab, that'd be awesome. Suede, Nyx, Shardre, and Rachel will be on the inside. All those lovely maidens in distress! ^_^

Also, Aether, it looks like the only way we can demote Nyx and I is to stay offline for 40 days. That can be done, though you'll have to let us know when, maybe we can play lowbies for a while, perhaps after the TF stuff?

Redcaps really are annoying. I'm not liking that trick of them going underground and popping up bosses. I think otherwise we could handle the spawn sizes. I can knock the difficulty down a peg and we'd still get pretty good xp.

You can adjust the auto-demote to 15 days at the minimum. But I don't want you not to play for 2 weeks, so don't sweat it.

If we can knock the bosses down to reds, I'll have a MUCH easier time holding them, and that will be better for EVERYONE involved. I can hold anything but purples with relative consistency, it seems.

Actually, that might work. One of these weeks we could just have a lowbie day. If we decided in advance and set the auto demote down, then we could resume the week after that with regularly scheduled heroes... Perhaps on a wednesday instead of a tuesday that second week. *shrug* Either that or we could try messaging some GMs.

XD We have scrappers out the wazzoo. But i'm SURE nyx won't mind another body to patch up! Heehehehee....

Right now we've got mostly scrappers, a blaster, and Nyx our handy controller (who does double duty as healing). When Gaia can be on, she's got a controller and defender, i think, but we need to get her levelified. *power flex*

Our scrappers are... two martial arts, a spines, a claws, and a broadsword. Am i forgetting any?

Edit: Oh, and most of us in the higher levels have alternate, low level characters, which include an emp defender, a katana scrapper, a couple of tanks, and... i think a blaster?

Well, we're pretty Scrapper-heavy, but that's to be expected with our concept. They don't call them "two fisted detectives" for nothing. :D

We've been short a Tanker since we lost our Noirbot, but really, any AT would be fine. Even another Blaster, since I only play Alan every other meet up.

When Issue 8 gets here, Alan is SO getting his trenchcoat. :D

Loopy Loup Garou is also waiting to see if Claws comes available for Brutes. I've stopped him at 14, so for now I'm keeping him around as a teammate for low level Gurus. It may be Issue 10 or 12 before anything happens in that area, tho...

Think we'll be able to get some of those redcap missions, perhaps?

Jade_Dragon
09-27-2006, 06:50 PM
I just wanted to say I had a splitting headache, so by the time I left at midnight I couldn't take it any more. Although needing to be at work in the morning was true, too.

I think the main thing that bothered me, though, was that after all that we weren't able to finish the mission. I'd been fine with it, if it weren't for whatever glitch. AFAIK, mission targets never show up in the prison cells, they are isolated on the far end of the map for a reason, so you have to backtrack to save teammates if they die. So I think we got got by a bug. And that bugs me. :D

Anyway, I REALLY want to level up Rache for Invincibility, so I'll work on that, and hopefully next week we'll have happier missions.

There have been rare occassions where there are hostages in a prison area. Doesn't happen often, but it happened to me once or twice. We did complete the mish after resetting it at a lower diff level. From now on I'll just keep the standard difficulty level for when we group, at least until we're all the same level.

Well, I think we would have done fine if we were more conscientious with our pulling. But even that was made more difficult with all the lag we were having. Suede was getting the worst of it, but there were a couple of times it hit me, too.

I have yet to test it out in combat, but I'm guessing her tanking abilities have just increased dramatically, even more so when I get some Enhancements in it. It's about time she started being able to be the distraction she is supposed to be. :D

Yeah, I will probably try and get Alan to 28 before next Tuesday, so I can go ahead and bring Rache in. That's twice in a row for Alan, and I want to give them both a chance.

It's a hassle relying on a sidekick all the time, but hey, it's not as bad as poor Dusty. Level 8. :D I did try to back him up one time, but it's like trying to stop the inevitable. Then when he fell, I realized I had no cover that I could duck behind. I darted around the field for a while, but that's when we all dropped, almost.

I'm seriously considering getting Medicine at this point. Weave is in character, but it's not that good a power, and Ignite is just not doing it for me. At 28 I will get Trip Mine, which should be better for setting up blockades than Ignite. And while it means taking a lot of powers, it might be nice to have another rez on the team.

Jade_Dragon
10-13-2006, 07:55 PM
Well, I got 28, and I'm not impressed by Trip Mine, either. It's all right when used with Caltrops, but when a foe runs past it at full speed, there is enough hesitation before the mine goes off that it rarely does any damage. And unlike Caltrops and Ignite, it has no flee effect that makes the foes run away from me. Or anyone else I'm trying to protect...

It can certainly be useful for setting up traps, and with both Cloak and Smoke Grenade I should be able to get in close enough to set them. The question is, would the team be willing to wait while I went in and set up some traps? Considering the speed with which we usually clear a mission, not to mention that we have plenty of damage dealers, I don't think Trip Mine is going to see much use.

The only advantage to Trip Mine is that once planted, they last a LONG time, so I can plant a whole minefield. And with Caltrops dropped on top of them, anything lured into the field will be moving slow enough to be caught in the blast. I'm afraid I'm going to have to slot the Power to heavily for it to be usable though. At least with Ignite, even though it doesn't last very long, I can leave it single slotted and spend my slots elsewhere.

I'm seriously considering dropping Ignite and Trip Mine and picking up Aid Self and Aid Other. Or even Stimulant, given that Nyx was complaining of being held all the time. While Defiance is nice, lately I've noticed that I'm getting hit a lot, and Nyx just can't keep a close enough eye on me to keep me healed all the time without endangering everyone else.

Keeping Nyx un-held also is beneficial in that if I'm not held, I can un-hold other people, usually. :D

All I can say is, aid self/other is REALLY handy, because you guys hardly wait to kill the baddies, which doesn't often give me a chance to cast transfusion.

Nyx
10-15-2006, 07:32 AM
Do tell?

Frost Sampson
10-15-2006, 07:49 PM
Wellllllll.....I was talkin to the Starry one last night and pitched the idea that maybe my blaster that I was debating, could've possibly been in the Crey lab that you three so lovingly will demolish...

SOoooooo.....Starry suggested that it could be possible that my hero is one of the many aliens whom Crey has claimed and captured. Her idea (which I -really- really like) is that he was a police officer/guardian type person who was transporting a dangerous creature (the creature being where the DNA that gets injected into Suede comes from) when the ship crashed on Earth.

This is all still a rough idea though of course :)

Nyx
10-16-2006, 01:34 AM
Wait, so is he a guard/officer or an alien?

Frost Sampson
10-16-2006, 02:31 AM
Erm....sorry, bad explanation I guess. The proposed idea was that he was guarding/transporting the alien, thus making him a guard of the alien.

Nyx
10-16-2006, 02:51 AM
Ok, got it. And got imprisoned like said alien within the Crey compound, most likely for later use as a test subject.

the_starcrosser
10-17-2006, 12:18 AM
:d Aye. He might have been an alien patrol officer/ranger who got stuck with the job of piloting a hazardous-containment ship through "rural space" (which happens to go past little podunk Earth) .... maybe gets shot down after getting too close to a Rikti battle or armed satellite defense or something...
Crey sniffs around after the crash looking for rikti technology, carts him and the cargo and ship off...
Only, the cargo is the prisoner or creature that they extract the DNA from, perhaps.

And it's just one idea, depending on what icecube here wants to come up with. :d We just thought it'd be a way to integrate a new character with a reason for being there and a reason for staying with the group.

I'm keepin' an eye out for you guys, but I will probably be on Virtue for most of the event, with a few timeouts on Triumph, Infinity, and Guardian. (Freedom's already taken care of) If you guys want to get together on Pinnacle, though, just name a time, or if you see me online drop me a tell.

Remember also we can collect the salvage and then use it later. Or even give it to some of the SG members that weren't able to make it. I don't know how many extras we're planning to collect, but I was going to try and get as many as I can, and we can put them away in the base.

What's wierd is, I got at least four of everything on Freedom two nights ago, but then I went hunting with Experiment OEBR1 (a Virtue villain) last night. I managed to get one set for him fairly quickly, but then I continued to ToT the rest of the night and got like nine Hamidon costumes AND NOTHING ELSE. :D I think I got like one set of the gloves and Recluse's mask, but couldn't put together another full set. It was all Hamidon costumes.

I'll try again tonight and hopefully it will balance out. That was just wierd, though. :D

Aether

The salvage is supposed to be random, but I do find I tend to get one piece more than the others. I too got a lot more Hami's last night than anything else. When I did it with Sciomancer I was getting everything but hamidon costumes.

Was lucky enough to get the Jack in Irons badge last night. He spawned two times in a row on Perigrine. I helped hunt out with a whole bunch of Eochai's too.

I'm finding the Unseelie Court badge a bit of a pain to get. These are a new enemy group who only spawn with Jack/Eochai. Usually by the time you find one of them someone else has gotten there first to wipe them all out. I think I got something like 3 or 4 last night amongst some 12 or so Jack/Eochai spawnings. 20 Unseelies get you a badge.
I'll probably try again later today and hopefully find some less populated areas.

:d Nyx and shardre and i did some trick'or'treating on sunday, do you all want to do some more tomorrow night, or something else?

Btw... once you get all the costume pieces.... what do you DO with them? it makes a costume slot?

On the hero side, you take it to Croatoa. There is a witch lady named Amma-something to the right side of the monorail, on the ground. Give her the salvage, and she will give you a costume slot.

Villain side the witch lady is Granny Bedlam (got to be inspired by Granny Goodness from DC :D) and she's in Nerva Archipelago. She's on a small island straight north of the Natural Store. It happens to be the island you exit your base on, which is convenient, but the base ENTRANCE is in a different place, so you can't just set a marker there and go to it. She's a bit hard to find.

I would be happy to do some Trick or Treating, although if we don't do any tonight, I will probably do some with Alan after I get through with some of my other characters. I'll collect as much as I can so those of you who still need the salvage will have some. Ditto on the villain side, since AFAIK we can still turn in the salvage well after the event is over.

I'd like to do Trick or Treating. If we get all the badges/salvage that everyone wants we can go do something else.

Well, I did a little Trick or Treating after we broke up last night but I only got two of the four items, and I think a couple of extra Statesman Masks. But I will probably return to it tonight, although I still have some other characters on other servers I need to finish up with as well.

More importantly, though, I stopped by the base to drop off Rachel's salvage, and went ahead and "processed" quite a bit of what was already there. (i.e. turned it into Tech Power and Hardware) We're REALLY close to getting a Turbine Generator, although we need a rare Tier II component that we still need some salvage for. (The most likely thing for us to find is a Broken Crey Pistol)

I don't know if we want to actually USE a Turbine Generator yet, though, as we'll need a Energy Room to put it in, and possibly a Mainframe if we decide to take the Combo Control/Generator out. Right now we seem to have enough energy, although if we want an Expert Worktable we'll need more than the Combo Generator.

What I think we need, though, are some Empowerment Stations. I think we have enough salvage to upgrade to the Level II Tech Empowerment Station. (There's an option to build one in the Level I Station) We also have a lot of Arcane Salvage I can't process because our Workstations are all Tech. You can process Salvage at an Empowerment Station too, and you only need one of them while with Workstations you need two. So it's actually better to have Empowerment Stations instead of Workstations unless there is something specific you want to build.

Maybe I'll start a new thread on this... Hm...

I hope you got the invite 4L4N, I think you did. Right after I got a LCTMS and then when I went to log back in it showed pinnacle as grey. Did the server go down?

Anyway, feel free to play around with the rank names. I think you should have enough rank for invites.

Yeah, Pinnacle crashed the moment I went into the SG permissions and started to look them over. I played around on Guardian for a while (with Gaia and the other folks who were playing their zombified heroes) but even some time later, after we quit, Pinnacle still wasn't back up. So things are pretty much as we left them.

4L4N did get into the Supergroup however, and he is leader, plus your demotion of your character worked too. (I'm not sure how you did that -- I always thought you couldn't demote yourself) I'll probably look over SGI's permissions and set up Deep Six's the exact same way. I may make a few minor tweaks if there's anything I see I want to change, but probably I won't.

Then I'll set up a small base and put a Salvage storage bin in it so I can store the Halloween stuff I collected. Depending on if any of you did any ToTing villain side or what we can trade, we'll have some extra costumes for when we start creating more villains for the SG.

Oh, and I do like the rank names, although I may think about some other ideas. We might want to have three people of rank one and three of rank two, like we were thinking. So we might consider names like "Upper Triumverate" and "Lower Triumverate", or something.

(The ranks, for those who don't know, are Six One, Six Two and so on to Six Five. There are only five ranks, so we neatly avoid the awkward "Six Six". :D And my first thought was "Ah... Seven of Nine...")

Don't ask my how I demoted myself because I didn't actually do anything. Leave it to me to find a way to demote myself. I first did it with Aether, while simultaneously giving Noirbot the highest rank, even though Noirbot couldn't possibly have been on at the same time as I. There's gotta be some bugs in the rank code, but I can't find a way to reproduce it.

The ranks are just something i cooked up real quick. To me it seemed that they'd just have number levels instead of names. It was also a call back to The Prisoner (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061287/) as the main character was Number Six. It is a bit awkward how it's implemented now though.

Ah, the Prisoner. One of my favorites, too. :D

I assumed that the way you got demoted was you weren't online for too long, and were auto-demoted. There's a permission you can set for that. You couldn't have been demoted when you had just logged on, though, so that doesn't make any sense. (Unless it had been a long time since you created the SG. And even if then, how would it demote you if you were the only person in the group?)

Anyway, as I mentioned elsewhere, I wasn't able to get online at all last night. I will try and get on this evening and finish setting up the SG. If anybody sees me online and wants to get invited, just let me know.

Firstly, Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope you all had a great one and hopefully didn't eat as much as I did. Oof. Unless it made you happy, then good for you.

Elemento and I were talking about initiating our foray into missed Task Forces. We'd like to start off with the Ernesto Hess Task Force.

This task force is started in Striga. It must be started by a character who has done all story arcs in that zone. Elemento should be able to take care of that req. The level range is 25-30, takes 6 heroes minimum and is estimated to take 2 hours. Those of us higher than the range will be exemplar'd down to 30

I'd like to get together sometime next week. It can be part of our Twisted Tuesday if we get it started early enough, and continue it the next week if we don't finish. If there's a night where we can all stay long enough to do the whole thing, that'd be cool too. I'd like to get commitments for who will be there. I'd like not to have to find too many pick-ups, so hopefully we can get 5 of us at least.

For those within the range, like Alan/Rachel, this'll be a good way to get at least a level or so. A badge, prestige and debt reduction (if applicable) for all.

Definites so far:
Lt Col McDuff
Wolf's Grin.
Nyx
Alan Midnight
Suede (though I haven't heard from her, she shows up just about every week)

Nyx

Yes McDuff will be ready for whenever we all can get this organized.

We all still on for the TF tonight?
Try to get there by 10:30 and meet in Striga. Make sure you have all the inspirations you need, since you can't hit up contacts during a TF. I'll stock the SGI office with some inspirations (particularly awakens) for emergencies.

From what I hear this is one of the better Task Forces so I'm looking forward to a good time.

I'll be in, although I'm planning on trying to spend some time prior to us meeting up to try out the new I8 features.

The good news is, you'll all get to see Alan in his new trenchcoat! :D

I'm definitely in! ..... as soon as the patch finishes applying. >_< I thought i'd get a head start on it and ask my dear mother to start the patch for me before i got off work, but it still isn't finished.... 15 minutes to go!

Edit:
And when we're done, i can go git me a trenchcoat and a rikti monkey and good lord knows what other shiny presents under my digital tree ^___^

Elemento! Where you at?

Elemento
11-29-2006, 04:19 PM
I have to apologize to everyone about last night. I had to take my daughter places and when I got back home, I was totally collapsed.
I passed out literally and when I got on about 11:30PM CST, nobody was around.
Again with Issue 8 going live and my decrepit body giving up on me, I was just not in a great condition. :(

McDuff does have Hess ready though.

No worries Elemento. Was just curious what was up.

If we were to try to start the TF again some day this week which day would be good? That way we can finish it up next Twisted Tuesday.

Most of Sunday afternoon & then at 8PM CST, I'm in SG meetings

I don't really have a lot of time this weekend, but I'll try to make it if I can. Maybe for part of it...

Saturday's looking pretty full, unless we start late, like past 11:00 Eastern.
I'll try to keep Sunday free, but I can't stay up as late Sun evening.

Elemento

I can be here today 11 PM EST. It's fine with me but not sure about the rest of you. If not this weekend, we can schedule for Twisted Tuesday. Say about 9 PM EST.

I can be there tomorrow (sunday) by 9 eastern, or there's always tuesday, whatever works out for everyone. *thumbs up*

Aether

I'm here now if we can get enough of us rounded up quick enough.

Otherwise I'd say tomorrow night. 9 eastern is okay with me too. The latest I could stay up would be 12 EST

Aether

How's it looking for tonight? I'd say aim for 9 Eastern. El said he'd be on around 10, which is fine we'll just get everything ready before then. Don't even know if we'll have 6 heroes.

Sorry I wasn't able to make it, but it was just one of those weekends. 10,000 things to do and only got done 5000 of them. I will also be going onto night shifts again in a couple of weeks, so I probably won't be able to make Tuesdays for that week either. Then again, you guys might have Christmas plans...

I'm hoping to make it for this Tuesday, though. At this point it looks like nothing crazy is going to come up.

Aether

Going to try to get a TF together again tonight. Be there as early as you can after 10 PM Eastern. We'll need 6 heroes to start Ernesto Hess.

If we can't get 6, we can do Sister Psyche with 5.

I must say, my favorite bit last night was when Nyx said, "When he gets into the orange, I'm pulling him back," and then I went into the orange. :D But of course I would have replied, but I was too busy fighting. :D

I may define a new macro though. I have one I call "Hold", which is actually the negation of "Run". A lot of times I've been faceplanted because I had the situation in hand, but needed support, and when the healer or bubbler or whatever got out of range, I dropped. So I wanted one for "hold your ground!", not calling back those who had to retreat, of course, but the rest of us buy time until they can recover and come back.

A "No, I'm doing fine, I'm staying right here" would be more generic, though. And cover both TP situations and retreats. And like what happened when we were attacked from behind, and I burned my tray and opened fire on the group to keep them off Nyx. Of course, I've got "Incoming" for that, but it might be useful to know that I'm not in as much trouble as it looks.

Sandy could use that, too, I notice with her there's a tendency for Tankers to come running up when they think she's in trouble, only to have her drop the guy with her Telsa Cage/Fire Sword combo before they can even get there. :D
