It’s called starting from the ground up and creating something amazing: an epic story of a group of heroes and heroines across the better part of fifty security levels and an entire metropolitan area.

I’m forming a new supergroup with the focus on creating and facilitating great roleplaying with well crafted characters. Instead of randomly thrown together heroes with power levels all across the spectrum, hesitantly forced roleplaying scenes, and abandoned story arcs, I want to bring it all the way back to the beginnings of these heroes’ crime fighting careers. The growth and development of the individual heroes’ character and powers along with the growth of interpersonal relationships within the team is the vital premise in regard to this entire enterprise.

Why now with the release of City of Villains?
Those villainous bones in my body are overwhelmingly outnumbered by the heroic ones (that and the personal timing of my return to the game certainly factors in – I won’t lie). Of course I plan on playing COV some once I purchase it in a few weeks, but being a pretty heavy roleplayer, it’s hard for me to really get behind a villainous character for extended periods of time.

An additional factor is that our villainous friends are going to need quality heroic counterparts to square off against in the PvP areas. What if some of the 1337 5p34k ganking can be replaced with pre-planned, roleplayed battles between the forces of evil and of good?

http://www.willphillips.org/coh/epic-star.jpg http://www.willphillips.org/coh/epic-star.jpg http://www.willphillips.org/coh/epic-star.jpg

http://www.willphillips.org/coh/epic-concept.jpg

They may not be morally bulletproof or have the cleanest conscience, but they're doing the best they can in a world full of sex, drugs, and superpowers. In the broadest brush strokes possible, this supergroup concept is largely like the X-Men in terms of scope and composition: individuals with any number of disparate backgrounds and motivations brought together by common relationships first, and common goals second.

One thing’s for certain in this city: a hero can’t make it on his or her own. Chance and circumstance - or even fate, as some would have it - assembled this motley crew and even though they may not all get along half the time, they’re sticking together. In ways more poignant to some than others, this has become somewhat of a surrogate, albeit unorthodox, family for its members.

What or who are you looking for?
Heavy / hardcore / immersive roleplayers who will take a new or lower level character (no higher than twelve-ish, please) and commit to regular play with the supergroup as well as character development, involvement on a separate group message board, and in-game story arcs. Mature players only, please.

In regards to specific character types, the door is pretty much wide open. Golden Age do-gooders and extreme anti-heroes may not fit well. All origins and archetypes are welcome. Please have a well developed character concept or be ready to flesh one out; characters shouldn’t be extremely powerful (backstory / rp-wise) yet, as part of the group epic is the growth and development of the individuals’ powers in tandem with their interpersonal relationships with others in the supergroup.

I'm interested - where do I go from here?
Reply to this thread or send me a private message. Over the next couple of days, I’ll be gauging reactions and possible interest to the idea. Once a critical mass of several interested parties forms (I’m looking at a minimum of six or so.), I will create a separate group forum that will be hosted at my domain.

From that point, we will post “official” character bios, select a suitable supergroup name, and roleplay out - in game - the founding of the team. Leading up to that undetermined time, all interested groups are encouraged to start roleplaying with each other in game.

Sounds very interesting.

Especially since I've always liked the X-Men-type Super Groups. Ones with troubles, conflicts, and very much human characters.

Oh, and awesome titles and such. Very nice.

=P Well thought out, and I have to say I loved the format of your post. Heh. Made it look professional. I am very, very impressed and interested. The sort of roleplaying oppurtunities that this presents are what I have been desiring since day 1. If there is anyway I can find the time, I am in.

Damn, I'm so interested in this idea... problem is, my playing time is limited to a few hours at night, and night for me is very late night for most of you. Even if I did join, I would fall behind in levels so very quickly.

Awsome idea, though, and I agree with Burby, Epic is the best name.

Very nice, Imp! And this is more of a public announcement sort of thing, Morc. If he put this in the Supergroup forums it would've gotten no attention. Heh. I'd love to join, but I have three supergroups to dedicate myself to at the moment (Cents, Bone Squad, Teen Squadron), and we all know how hard it is managing that many characters. :) Good luck with it, man!

This is a supergroup.

Next time you decide to use your mod powers, make sure you put the thread in the correct place. Thank you.

And besides, you guys know as well as I do that the Recruitment Centre gets nowhere near the ammount of traffic that City Hall does; I wanted to give this idea this best possible shot a success.

Now someone please move it accordingly - preferably back to its original location.

TheImperial
10-26-2005, 10:38 PM
Ok, now that the moving crap was mainly taken care of (I suppose I'll have to place a PSA of sorts over in City Hall now), I want to thank you all for the encouragement so far.

Just Epic would be cool, but I doubt it's availible. E.P.I.C. sounds good as well, but we'd have to figure out what in the Sam Hill it stands for. I was also toying around with the idea of Epic Center as a play on words of "epicenter."

So, who all here is interested in the group as a member? It can be a bit hard to descern some comments, ya know? And for the interested parties, please post some info on the character you plan on using - remember we're starting off at the genesis of our characters' careers, so keep it low level ( <12ish ).

I'll be posting a bio format for people to work through sometime tonight.

I'd consider this but I'm not sure what kind of time I can give... I mean... I'm in a few SGs as it is but I'm rarely... "Active" due to life...and I'd not want to be just a bit player with this concept either...

TopHat
10-27-2005, 12:02 AM
This sounds like something I would really enjoy. I even have a concept I would like to apply. But I'm still out of the game for a month and a half so I assume I'd be missing a lot of the group interaction that leads to the SG formation.

Poison
10-27-2005, 12:28 AM
No need to be all pissy, Imp. Just didn't expect a new SG in these villainous times. And I didn't have the nerve to read through it.

But saying that the recruit center does not get as much traffic as city hall is no excuse to post it there instead.

Necrosys
10-27-2005, 12:32 AM
But enough on the moving-mix-ups. :)

I'm thinking my character will have a sort of warrior-spirit about them, witty, and clever as well... sort of like Psylocke... but not a telepath, nor Brittasian, nor from an odd dimension called, "Otherworld". :P

Man I really love this idea, but like others here, I just don't think i'll be able to dedicate it the time you need for the SG. I'll be spending most of my time in CoV for a while, but maybe, if you set specific days to do the RP play sesions? The hardest thing for me is the time, since I work nights and most people play while im working. But if you set some playing times during the weekend, and at set times I could, and would love to join you. I love to RP, and surely don't get to enough. Well let me know Imp. , either way, kudos for the idea, hope to be a part of it, but if not, I wish you the best with this.

(This is an excerpt of the reply I PMed starcrosser. I thought it would go well for some of you interested folks to know as well.)

As far as mundane details, we'll be heading to Virtue. As for how often, I'm not going to legislate when or how often people have to play, but I am looking for members who will dedicate a decent ammount of time to developing the group dynamic - both in game and out. The low beginning levels thing is more to set the tone that this is the beginning of the saga, if you will, that will continue on until the heroes become wizened sages of the crime fighting school of hard knocks. So, in all reality, the technical numbers don't really matter except in that roleplaying sense.

Man, Code 4's my second highest character, can't do that.

I'm posting a list of characters that make sense for this:

Skyblade (http://www.creyindustries.com/viewhero.php?id=6049) has been rolled a couple of times on Virtue, but never quite made it long enough.

The Mekanik. As an orphan, Mike Jones (a name assigned by the orphanage) was taunted for his short size, twisted features, and general ungainliness. This ugliness was somewhat offset by his skill with tools; Mike could fix anything seemingly without effort, from radiators to computers to engine blocks, a skill he parlayed into a successful auto mechanic's shop. And then, on his 25th birthday, he received the shock of his life: his father was Haephaestus(sp) the Greek god of the smithy. As such, Mike can invent almost anything, but can't always explain how he built it, or why it works.

Astonaryx. Another Greek riff. After the fall of Troy, Hector's child was dashed on the rocks beneath the city walls, or so goes the story. In reality, Apollo former protector of Troy, whisked him away and replaced him with another child. He then flung the babe far into the future, into an era where the old gods' power no longer held as much sway. On his 18th birthday, the child known as Astronaryx is visited at his foster parents home by the god Hermes, and given the armor of Achilles, the sword of Hector and the belt of Ajax and told that his new destiny is as champion of a new era.

Whisper (I'd be incredibly surprised if this name is available). Eric Murphy was a young Catholic priest who, through a string of children's confessions learned of a child molestor preying in the neighborhood. Although he knew he risked damning his soul for eternity by breaking the Seal of the Confession, he donned a mask and went out into the night to expose the predator. Now, it is said that if you confess your sins to God, that he may send an angel to deal with the evil in your life.

Serpensor. A sort of alien secret agent whose homeworld was invaded by the ferocious Tyranids. Serpensor fights the creatures on this world, and gathers strength to liberate his homeworld. 007 with scaly green skin.

Bluebird. A continuer of the legacy of the original Bluebird, but where the original fought crime with quick wits and a strong right cross, this one does it with forcefields and energy blasts.

Starwake. Robbie Reynolds has no powers of his own whatsoever. What he does have is a psychic link with a living alien spacecraft orbiting high above the earth that lets him manipulate gravity.

Solenoid. A mutant of otherwise low power, Chris Collins was recruited by a top secret government agency at an early age. Purporting to create a crack team of government controlled superheroes, the whole thing turned out to be a Nemesis plot, and Collins became one of a few survivors. Although the people that trained him are all gone, his purpose is not, and Collins uses his skills, his mutant powers, and the secret asteroid base that all but he and three other former members know about in order to fight injustice.

The Mekanik, oh yeah - definately.

Also as a note to all the interested parties who have posted here and have PMed me - as this is a heavy roleplaying group, we canot accept characters who are rarely used alternates or players who won't be able to contribute to the ongoing story of the team.

I'm looking at having about one story arc per month (Druid - can you coach me through these?) with a "big" conclusion at the end that will involve the interested parties in game.

As the whole idea is around the development of the group, I need members to be active both in game and on the forums.

Thanks.

How, low, will we be starting with 1 and 2s or should it be an 8 to 12 range?

Have 3 that I"ve been itching to explore.

Level 14 MA/Regen--Nomad princesess in paragon to fight the demons that killed her tribe

Level 12 Dark/Dark former child TV star. Played a sidekick on a show like batman, ended up being an avatar of a dark god. He loves it, the dark is wondering about his choice.

Level 2 MA/SR-- Just an old cowboy, kinda based on several Johnny Cash songs. Tough old bird.

Not really involved in SG now looking to create.

I think i'll submit my character Battleflag, aka Jack Cordell. He's a former Crey tech-department flunkie who ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time and asked the question, "What's all that screaming behind that door?"
Energy/Invul tank - he's level 16, but i'm a slow leveler anyway, so hopefully that won't be a problem?
He's one of my way old pre-beta characters (first slot on virtue, woo!) and has a backstory started at about 15 pages that i wrote... two or three years ago? Maybe i'll be able to finish it now...

Pic of the Mekanik. Sort of a test build. I'll probably make him "uglier" for the real thing. I could also use Split Adam, even though he got toasted so that I could reserve the Lantern Jack name. I would sort of like to hold off on actually showing up with a character so that I can choose one where the personality and powersets fit in well and aren't duplicated. I just wanted to post some characters, since no one else was doing anything.

It's possible that if I manage to get Blackbird that I'll remake Red-Wing with the name he was supposed to have all along.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but was this sort of an attempt to bring the Gurus together under one banner so to speak?

Brief Character History:
Jack’s heroing career started with a hunt for coffee while working late, a few side turns through the lab level, and a stale donut. Noticing a solitary alarm light flashing over a laboratory door, he went to investigate... and ended up infected with an unknown alien substance that spread through his body, eating through him, and nearly killing him in the process. He escaped, the only survivor of the accident in the lab, and with some interesting results. His whole body was now laced with threads of a highly durable fiber-optic-looking substance, that seemed almost alive. Crey covered up the deaths and is now looking to reclaim their “property” and see why Jack isn’t dead. Caught in the crossfire, Jack’s younger sister ended up hospitalized, in a coma. Knowing that she and so many others would never be safe until Crey – and those like them – were taken down, he created a hero identity with the name of one of his favorite songs and hit the streets.

And picture.

His father had served in the Army, as much of his family had done before him, and Joel would also offcourse. They were all very Patriotic and hoped to one day see Puerto Rico as the next star in the Amarican Flag. So when the day of his 17th birthday came, nobody was surprised when Joel asked to enlist in the Army. His father tried to convince him to wait untill he had his degree, but Joel wanted to start from the bottom.

His father and family moved to Paragon city when Joel enlisted. Joel was sent to Iraq, and his father started working on a secret project for the DoD in conjuction with a private company that had access to recovered alien technology.

One day while on a convoy Joels unit came under attack. Almost his entire unit fell to the surprise attack, and Joel himself was shot four times while rescuing a fallen soldier. He survived the injuries but was left paralized from the waist down for the rest of his life. This was a huge blow for him, he felt as if he had failed his dad, as if his life was over.

Arriving at Paragon City, Joel was greeted as a hero, to his surprise even some of the cities most renowned heroes were present while he was presented the Bronze Star. His father was proud, but also sad, very sad, and he could not hide it.

He called Joel into his office that night, told him how very proud of him he was and that he was more of a hero than anyone else he had ever met. He took Joel to the basement of their building, where he showed him a secret door that led to what looked like a researsh lab. Inside he showed him what looked like a humanoid body, a robot of sorts but very human like and very advanced. He expalined about nanites and AI, something about a posironic brain polymatrix or something, these thing were above Joels understaning. What Joel did understand was that his father was doing this in secret, something about the company that the army was working with did not seem right. He told Joel that if anything was to happen to him, he was to come here, and here he would know what to do. He told him not to loose faith, that he would make everything right again. Joel didn't know what he meant, but he knew his father, he knew he was a man of his word.

After about a week his father dissapeared. Joel knew it was related to his researsh and as instructed went into the secret research room. Using the code his father had left him he opened up the computer files, where his father had left him a message. " Joel, if you are here that means that I'm dead, yes son, I'm sorry you have to find out this way, but they have found out I was on to them. It is up to you now son to keep this technology from them. With this technology life can be created, but also destroyed. I was hopping to be able to use it to heal your broken body, but time was not in my favor. I have put together this Android Body from many different DoD projects from surplus parts and some projects that are still in development, so it is untraceable. This android unit is also the only thing capable of containing the Alien Bio-Pores, an alienredioactive compound that generated powerfull but also life giving radiation. I have stolen this from the corporation who intended to use it a weapon. I will not tell you who this company is, revenge is for lesser people son, you have to be above that. I give you here instructions on how to apply the the compound into the Android Power supply, and also on how to use the Positronic Transducer. With this device you will be able to transfer your cousiousness into the body of the Android. It is still experimental and has not been tried but you need to take the chance. You are my hero son, I know only you can take on this responssibility. You must move this Android and the Alien Compound to another location, and keep it from those who would use it for evil. Become what you are, a Hero. Find others like you who can help you, and who can help you maintain and upgrade this Android. This is Paragon city son, the city of heroes, your city. I am very proud of you my son, and always remember, I love you."

Joel followed his fathers instructions, gave life to the android and transfered his mind into the Android. He was surprised to the results. He felt....well, he felt like himself! like it was just him, not a mechanical contraption. He could walk! and better yet he could fly. He could feel the power within.

He would make his father proud, he would become a true hero of Paragon. He would call himself the New Star. He knew he needed other heroes to help him learn the trade, and he would also need someone he can trust who can work on the Android.

New Star picked up his crippled body, and all the equipment he needed a left to forge his future as a hero.

Ok, I'll bite. Been wanting to redo this guy anyhow. He's a newb, just starting out. Forgive the long bio... when I make a bio, I do it Russian style. :yoy:

Character Name: Damascus
Legal Name: Philip O’Toole
Other Aliases: None. but don't call him Phil. He hates that.
Identity: known to authorities
Age: 23 or so
Birthplace: A small town in Ireland which I have yet to decide on

Level: New
Origin: Natural
Archetype: Scrapper
Primary Power: Broadsword
Secondary Power: Super Reflexes
Explanation of Powers: Live-steel reenactment combat training, combined with supernatural spiritual gift.
Motivation for Heroing: Defending the helpless with the gift he’s been given

Race / Ethnicity: Caucasian/ Irish
Gender: Male
Height: 5’ 11”
Weight: 160 lbs
Build: Slim to Average
Eye Color: Pale blue (he’s blind)
Hair Color: Reddish blonde, slightly longish
Complexion: Fair
Distinguishing Features: Celtic knot work tattoo on his back
Typical Combat Dress: ?
Typical Civilian Dress: T-shirt and jeans, sometimes a button up shirt if it’s properly loosened a button and the sleeves are rolled up… he hates to wear things that are very formal or uncomfortable.

Myers-Briggs Personality Type: INFP

Cares: His faith, his personal calling to defend the helpless, his gift for music, and his homeland of Ireland.

Fears: Afraid of failing, afraid of letting people down, afraid of losing people he loves, afraid of losing his gift, and thus his ability to help people, or even to see.

Likes: Music and singing, heroic stories and ballads, shy girls, Guinness and mead, Renaissance faires, a good sword, pizza.

Dislikes: Egotists, villains, annoying music (can we say rap music?), soda, extremely loud noises, total silence

Quirks: Philip is blind, and ‘sees’ through a form of echolocation, much like Daredevil. Thus, the presence of small, constant noise helps feed this echolocation so he can ‘see’ all the time. He has, as a side-effect of this, developed a habit of always whistling or humming or tapping his fingers or his foot, or otherwise making sounds.

Brief Character History:

Philip O’Toole was part of a live steel reenactment troupe, part of a band of Renaissance faire actors, as well as a dabbling musician, living a post-college life without much direction or responsibility. During the days, he trained with his fellow reenactors, performing before audiences (though they all hoped to land parts as extras or even minor characters in a movie someday..). Philip’s specialty was the broadsword, which he wielded with great skill. At night, he would either play at small gigs, often solo, though sometimes with an ever-changing rag-tag band. The nights when he wasn’t playing, he was hanging out with friends, drinking, flirting, and living a relatively carefree life.

Everything changed one night when he and another friend were driving home from a party, both of them having had more to drink. Philip’s intoxicated buddy lost control of the car, which veered off the road, flipping over a few times, before crashing into a tree. The driver was killed instantly, and Philip, once extricated from the wreckage, was rushed to the hospital with severe head injuries. He woke from a two-week coma, wondering if he had in fact actually woken up. The accident had damaged the visual center of his brain – Philip was completely blind.

After his release from the hospital, Philip plunged into a deep depression. Much of his life seemed to have been ripped from him. He could no longer drive, watch TV, read a book, drive a car, or wield a sword if he could not see. His music seemed small consolation – whatever poured from his guitar or his penny whistle told of his utter heartbreak. Depression deepened into despair, and one cold, snowless January, the young Irishman could take it no more, and wandered into the park, finding a secluded spot far from the sounds of humanity around him, with a dagger from his Ren Faire days secreted in his coat. Intent on slitting his wrists and being done with his seemingly useless life, he hesitated a moment, remembering his grandmother back in Ireland. His grandmother, who’d believed Philip destined for great things, and who prayed to God Almighty.

Figuring it was worth a shot – he’d never really tried this whole prayer thing – Philip cried out to God, begging – if He were really there – to give him some sign, some reason to go on. Much to Philip’s surprise, God answered, not with words, but with a vision so breathtaking that to this day he is at a loss to describe what he saw. He knew, though, somehow, that God had more for him to do on earth. He also discovered that the surprises were not over – God had given him two very special gifts. The first was the ability to see sound – a form of echolocation, which granted him the ability to navigate his world again—and wield his sword once more. The second was another kind of sight – Philip could see things which others could not see – the denizens of the spiritual realm. While these sights are fleeting, then are not infrequent, and Philip sees on numerous occasions angels or demons, and he is not always sure whether he enjoys this gift…

He sought the advice of the nearest church, pouring out the whole story to the flabbergasted pastor before asking for prayer and guidance. The pastor told the young man that he believed that God had a purpose for him, a calling on his life, and that He would soon make it evident to Philip. Pondering this, Philip accepted the invitation of his friends to join them at a Faire in Paragon, as he felt compelled to go.

Purpose found him. After the Faire, Philip followed his friends to a party, but on the way, they were confronted by a scene of costumed heroes rescuing a man from a mugging. While Philip’s friends were content to cheer the heroes on, Philip felt something swell in his heart. This. Here was his purpose. Not tights, perhaps, but certainly the heroism. He’d always been a lover of the heroic tale, a warrior poet of sorts… perhaps he could in fact be such a defender of the helpless… Philip stayed in Paragon after his friends left, despite their protests, and set his efforts to finding like-minded heroes who might offer him some aid and advice…

Nutbunnies to your idea, I say! XI

X-Men type group you say? RPG you say? In and Out of game you say?

No problemo. This all in all sounds like a great idea.

But I don't think I'd be welcome.

Virtue. I don't have a character on that server. True, I could make one. But it'd be awhile and I'd have to make an entirely new one from scratch and hope to god that I can find a name for them. :) I will not reroll a character from "Heroes" unless anyone cares for me to.

Times. I go to college, I'm helping a friend through a stressful time, and not to mention I kinda already do the whole in and out of game thing. Only thing is, I'm not going to abandoned my "Heroes" project till it's finished. (Which may end in Janurary. I plan on doing more when I can think of more plots, though.)

The Game. My game hasn't arrived. >_< Best Buy better cough up my 50$ soon. Or or the game.

Also, you say Golden Age and Anti-Heroes may not fit. I think Thunder Girl might work, but really I don't see how the others wouldn't either. I don't know. I really like DC's style so maybe this isn't for me. Who knows? I'd like to say "I write an on-going Online Story on this website. Read or browse over it, and see if my style works for you guys" But if you don't want to it's cool.

I gotta say this looks really really really awesome.

I am hitting myself in the the head at how awesome this sounds.

Occupation: Grifter
Legal Status: Currently no outstanding warrants, although such things have a way of getting lost where the Spirit of the Fox is involved.
Marital Status: Single.
Known Relatives: Parents, Alvin and Martha Coulane

Physical Description

Race / Ethnicity: White/Creole.
Gender: Male
Height: 5-10
Weight: 170

Eye Color: green
Hair Color: Red
Complexion:
Distinguishing Features:

Typical Combat Appearance: Foxhunt has scrounged up a costume for himself that bears the iconic appearance of a fox. Where it came from is anyone's guess, though where the Spirit of the Fox is concerned, such things often expedite (expediate?) themselves.

Typical Civilian Appearance: Denim jacket, jeans, t-shirt, sturdy shoes in the casual. When Kevin dresses up, however, he does it right.

Personality Synopsis

Myers-Briggs Personality Type:

Cares:
Fears:
Motivations:

Likes:
Dislikes:
Quirks:

Tactical Analysis

Metahuman Powers: Foxhunt can make himself extremely hard to see, like viewing an object out of the corner of one's eye. Foxhunt is also slightly above peak human performance physically, on the level of a pro athelete. Finally, Foxhunt has an extremely sensitive sense of smell.

Fighting Skills: Kevin Coulane learned how to shoot a bow and arrow when he was a child, but it never developed into any special talent. But when augmented with the spirit of the Fox, Kevin forced himself to become proficient with a bow and arrow, assisted by his newfound athleticism. The Spirit of the Fox finds guns repugnant, and arrows are capable of non-lethal and otherwise foxier payloads.

Other Special Skills & Abilities: The Spirit of the Fox is, in fact, a separate entity that strengthens Foxhunt at all times. But it does have a mind of its own, and will occasionally manifest itself as a red fox. Kevin Coulane has lengthy conversations with the Spirit of the Fox in his head, in which he calls the entity simply, "Fox."

Kevin Coulane had a brief obsession with magic and Houdini in particular for a time, and has some minor escape artist skills that the Spirit of the Fox seems to have somehow augmented.

Special Limitations:

Notable Equipment:He carries a bow carved out of a willow tree hit by lightning. He's been known to call it "Wonderboy" in reference to the movie "The Natural," but this is more wry humor than anything.

Arrows are of various types, from blunt head non-lethals to steel-head tips. Foxhunt also carries some specialty arrows, created under the advise of the Spirit of the Wolf. For example, an arrow blessed with the rain from a thunderstorm causes a mighty flash of light, and so on.

Transportation: Other than a remarkable endurance, Foxhound has no notable mode of transport (at the moment. If I'm running around all the damn time because no one has teleport, I may suddenly develop some sort of running ability...)

Personal History

Relation to & Involvement in The Epic:

Personal Historical Overview: Drunk in a New Orleans bar, Kevin Coulane declared himself to be the greatest escape artist in the city, a moderate overstatement. Unfortunately, he was overheard by James Roark, a man possessing the Ancient Hunter's Spirit, a power whose existence had its roots in the dawn of humanity, and which gave its owner fantastic powers. Biding his time until he could hunt his true game, a superhero known as Mynx, Roark kidnapped Coulane, set him loose in the Louisiana swamps, bound and handcuffed, and proceeded to put his claim to the test. Miraculously enough, Coulane escaped capture for close to a day, a record duration against the Ancient Hunter. Unbeknownst to Roark or Coulane, the entire scene had been watched by the Spirit of the Fox, an animal aspect of the same power that had created the Ancient Hunter. Impressed by Coulane's cleverness and general defiance, the Spirit of the Fox bonded with him, allowing him to escape into the swamps without a trace.

Personal History

Relation to & Involvement in The Epic:

Threat History:
Jean Pierre Demol was born in Paris in the summer of 1978, under the watchful eyes of a two loving parents, French diplomat Alexei Demol, and the beautiful UN delegate from Italy, Ms Flavia Benedetta. With parents of such backgrounds and jobs it was only natural that their son became a worldly man. Among his travels of the world, Jean Pierre saw the troubles of the world, the famine, the wars, the bickering, the miscommunications, and most importantly the heroes. Already at age 10 he was fascinated with the heroes of the world and by age 12 he could see the problems that had arisen with them. At age 16 he wrote an article that was presented in front of the UN’s General Assembly. At its conclusions, it goes as is:

Super heroes have inhabited this earth in one form or another for millennia upon millennia, though it has only been this century where the amount of registrations has increased. Yet with this influx of super heroes, the amount of bickering over certain issues has increased as well. As Nietzsche once stated that a superman is one who can make their own decisions and their own moral judgement, so can heroes. This has lead to massive amounts of inaction, unwillingness to help, and major disputes on who the credit of certain tasks should go to. With this I appeal to the United Nations to grant support to a project to make up a multi-national peace keeping force made up of super heroes…

The end result? Failure. The US, the main force needed in creating a UN council of heroes, killed the mandate in the newly elected Senate where fervent mutant-hater Newt Gingrich presided. After such a brutal kill given by Congress, many countries took away support from the project as well as well. Soon forgotten, Jean Pierre would have to deal with a handful of troubles himself, most importantly, his discovering of mutant powers. Neither his parents were mutants, though something was to be said about his mother’s aging process, he was found to control the forces of nature, earth, wind, water, and lightning all at his disposal. With his control of nature he controlled gravity and soon became adept at flying. The only problem with all these improvements is that he had to hide them from his parents because of their job status, as we found out after searching his computer in an investigation we handled later.

The first sign of any usage of powers by him occurred in 1998, while at college he ‘miraculously’ summoned a storm to occur at the scene of a fire, saving most of the occupants of a dorm. A more spectacular feat a year later, while working as an intern in the French Government. This usage of powers occurred during an assassination attempt occurred on French leader Chirac involving the diversion of a missile onto the oncoming plane. Unfortunately for him, he was not present at the death of his parents, a hostage situation gone wrong while in Paris. After this occasion it was noted that his hair turned a bright white, perhaps this organism’s way of showing despair.

In 2005, Chirac failed to pass the Constitution of Europe, which he had so adamantly supported. In order to leave a legacy, or in other peoples’ eyes, cut his losses, he had a very secret meeting with Jean Pierre, the details which we know very little of. What we do know is that Chirac created a top secret project known as NOMOS, the Greek word for law. What is also known is that Jean Pierre soon left Europe and went to Paragon City, RI, and signed up his name to the registry of heroes under the alias Nomos. His goal? To promote the principle of International Cooperation that the UN once stood for.

I like it, Mal, but here is my concern: you have a lot of characters that you are listing down in your sig.

Being that this is (going to be, at least) a heavy storyline-driven roleplaying supergroup, we can only afford to have players that can be active in our burgeoning forum and characters that will see a lot of use in game.

This is in no way some kind of automatic "no," but it is something I would like to hear addressed.

My idea for an overarcing plot, reposted:

In late 2005, a group of heroes began to assemble on the streets of Paragon City, some come to live up to the ideal of hero, others of a thing more akin to happenstance. But as these men and women grow to know each other, they discover a series of strange coincidences: the path of each of their lives can somehow be traced back to the man previously known as "The Bengal Bomber." But how could this have happened and why? The truth will be revealed in these very pages, true believer. Until next time...

What could be weirder than being approved by Chirac? Also keep in mind, Nomos was once supposed to be the leader of the Union of Heroes, which I have given up on because reality hit me. He was fancy-smantz, but in being so he also is a diplomat and kind of whiny as a hero. He'd wear the full mask, but he's afraid that he'll get his hair messed up, or some other pathetic detail.

Have I killed yet ANOTHER thread?

Been gone for the weekend. I think Imp's kinda busy right now. He's running the show, so nothing really happens until he says jump.

Foxhunt's up to 8, btw.

We're looking at running the first TF this weekend sometime and parlaying that into our Epic storyline as the team's founding.

Check out the forums for more info, all.

Its been a little too quiet around here lately. Any plans for this weekend? Are we still planning on doing the TF team creation skid? If so, we should all get to atleast level 11 right?

also the RP seems to be a little lonely, anyone else want to join in?

Lets get this party started guys!

Still too quiet around here. Are we still doing this or are people begining to loose interest? I hope not, this idea is very, very good, and the RP is starting to take shape. Please lets get more involved. If you have not done so yet plase post a little something in the RP, so we can start getting a feel for the characters.

Also, do we want to schedule an in game meet, say this Saturday at 9:00 PM at Gemmini Park ;) RP how we all meet each other and such?
