I just got done poking through my old C:\ drive, trying to find stuff which has been on that drive for years. And I found a few things, too. Here's one of them:
The "Dumb Ass Bass" (from Killfrog.com) (http://www.tritonius.com/tmp/dab.exe)
The site's still up, but there's no more Dumb Ass Bass to be found. Could I possibly have the last surviving copy, a lone testament that the Dumb Ass Bass ever existed? Hmmm.
I need to scour the rest of this old hard drive and see what else turns up. In the meantime, if anyone else here takes a fancy to being a cyberarchaeologist, then go on and tell us what you found in some forgotten subdirectory which you barely remember or never even knew existed. Better yet, post it or link it. If this turns out to be popular, we can even extend our searches for old code to our CD racks, 3.5" floppies or even *shudder* 5.25" floppies, if you have any. :D
Now to find that old snowball fight game and those Doll Palace pics....
*goes back to digging and rummaging*

Ooh, look! It's Derreva Redward, my old "lumberwarrior" from way back when I played Ultima Online. That had to be, what? 1997 or 1998? It was back when Ultima Online Renaissance was out (which is what I got started with), and Lord Blackthorn's Revenge came out less than a year later. I still have the poseable Lord Blackthorn which came with that expansion, too. :D
Let me check on something....

Huh. And the last recorded date is when this pic was modified, which was probably when I upgraded to a better hard drive and transferred all the contents from the old drive to the new one. This was way back when I was still using Windows 95; There's no "Created:" date to be found, so the exact date this pic was taken has been lost to the sands of time.

I agree. She looks much better with a cape. :D
(This was my first MMOG with graphics. As you can see, it didn't take me long to come up with the idea of Battle Banter or Combat Chatter or whatever you call it. The Widowed has merely taken up a long-standing tradition. ;) )

It's hard to see, but that's our redheaded Derreva without her helmet. I can't even remember the names of the two or three teams or orders or supergroups or whatever that had her as a member at one time or another. I think this one may have been "The Defenders of Virtue" or something similar. I vaguely remember the story behind this pic, too. This was after Derreva had learned Cooking, along with her complementary skills like Swordsmanship (helpful for cutting meat from corpses, among other things), Lumberjacking (for cutting wood for campfires) and Hunting (for finding nearby animals). Basically she had run around the woods killing everything that moved, skinning the carcasses and cooking them over campfires. So she hauled her backpack full of meat (along with a few other edibles like cheese, fruit and wine) and ran back to the Defenders' tower intent on throwing an impromptu feast for whoever was there. Alas, she was the only Defender around, so she laid out this huge feast for the rest of her friends to find later...before the food "decayed" and disappeared, with any luck. Then she ran off and did something else; I forget what. She may have gone back to Gazer Cave or something.
I wish I had some similar memento of other neat feats I ran Derreva through in that game. Like the time some other warrior was killed by harpies in the woods, Derreva killed the harpies and took all the dead warrior's armor before it could decay, then Derreva ran around for about three weeks or a month trying to find this guy and give him his armor back (she finally succeeded and was commended for following the Virtue of Honesty). Or the time one of my alts (Lyria Redward, Derreva's younger sister) and her friend Ash Croptyn dressed up like Savages by stripping down to their undies, wearing tribal paint and arming themselves with spears, then walked around town talking like a couple of primitives. The attention we got was worth the Karma hit we received from smearing ourselves with the "evil" tribal paint. :D

Dra'Lannora, one of my longest-standing characters from The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall. Being a wood elf from a custom class similar to a barbarian, she received an armor bonus for fighting with light or no armor. I wish I had found something less "slutty" or "vampy" than that corset, but it beat walking around topless. Yes, Daggerfall did have nudity, as did its successor Battlespire. It wasn't until Morrowind that players who wanted their heroes to run around in their birthday suits had to download a patch for it. <.<
Even older stuff:
I used to be an AOL whore from about 1995-1997, before I got smart enough to leave. For all their faults, AOL did have a lovely bundle of pages for The Craft when that movie came out in May of 1996. And I just rediscovered the two trailers I downloaded from those pages. Goddess, I haven't watched these videos in years! :)

Being the leader of the United Blacksmiths of Britannia, I can categorically say these shots were not from 1997-1998, you have Colored Armor, and Colored Ignots did not come out till much later, plus it appears that your house was in Trammel and not Felucca (green tree gave it away), so I'd say 2000. :D

I still have Duke Nuke'm 1 and 2 on my HD that I copied off a borrowed Duke Nuk'em 3D cd I borrowed from waaaaaaaaaaaaay back when.
I also have some video clips of an exploding dog, Bill Gates getting assaulted with a pie, a cat stabbing a guy in the crotch with his claws, and a dude getting his arm broken during an arm wrestling match *cringe*.
I've still got the demo for Doom 1 and Screenshots for Prey, using the Duke Nuk'em engine, that 3D Realms is BARELY releasing like 10 years later for the X-Box 360.
I also have EVERY jiggly pic from the jiggly thread archived... for... reasons.

I thought I had already moved on to Anarchy Online in 2000. I guess the easy way to figure this out would be to figure out when Lord Blackthorn's Revenge came out; I was online for a little under a year when that expansion launched.
Though I AM curious...how does one wear a faction RED cape and have "illegal" PURPLE sigil furniture? :P
Derreva wasn't with any Faction that I recall (though with the loyalist paladin-like way I played her and with Lord British being my homeboy since Ultima 7, it probably would have been the True Britannians). If I recall, the Factions weren't implemented until sometime after the launch of Ultima Online: Renaissance. So from what I remember, it was just an ordinary red cape. Take a plain old grayish cape, add a tub of red dye, mix well and serve. :p
How was the purple furniture illegal, anyway? Was it from a different Faction than whoever wore the red stuff?
But yeah, colored minerals (like her Verite armor) already existed by the time I joined UO, and the Trammel/Felucca split came on around either Renaissance or Third Dawn...I forget which. It was before I joined; Considering that there was absolutely nowhere for me to build a house in the Lake Superior server (and the people who already did own dwellings could charge some ungodly huge sale prices and get away with it), Trammel must have been created quite a while before I jumped in...which doesn't trouble me in the least. I had some bad experiences in Felucca, most notable of which was some jerk who stealthed into our friend's house and stole my battle axe while I was attacking him with it. Derreva didn't get killed in the big PvP battle (too much armor, too much health, too many potions and bandages, too much of a "tank"), but I had two axes stolen right out of Derreva's hands by the time I got her back to Trammel. That was enough to convince me not to go back. :grr:
So the Factions system I couldn't have cared less about; It was just an excuse to get into PvP battles anywhere and everywhere. What I wish had existed from the beginning was the three-stage Virtues system. It was pretty cool when they added it later, and killing a Lich with the power of Sacrifice was awesome. But from my last recollection, they still hadn't implemented all eight Virtues. Have they finished this yet?

I'm almost 100% Positive that LBR launched late 2001/early 2002.

Ah, sorry for jumping to conclusions, given your original timeline I wasn't sure that dye tubs were in existance yet. :D

Yeah and it was an exploit in the game you weren't actually supposed to be able to create the stuff, however, just before I left the game they "legalized it" -- probably because they couldn't figure out how to keep the exploit from occuring.
But yeah, colored minerals (like her Verite armor) already existed by the time I joined UO, and the Trammel/Felucca split came on around either Renaissance or Third Dawn...I forget which. So then you had joined after the "evil" Publish 16, lol...which I believe occured during Ren but Before Third Dawn (Third Dawn also brought upon the whole "3-D" version of the game, even though it really wasn't 3-D)
I had some bad experiences in Felucca, most notable of which was some jerk who stealthed into our friend's house and stole my battle axe while I was attacking him with it. Sounds like the average Fel experience, :lmao:

They have not yet finished the Virtues system, but I haven't played since November 27th of last year so I'm not quite sure any progress they have made, but it has never been high on their priority list to complete so my guess is they still have just the 3 implemented.

I wish I had my old hard drive. Sadly, it's in my old tower, which no longer works (A whole crap load of busted drivers and such that aren't worth fixing.)
I have alot of pre-beta art, micros, mugens and stuff on there.
Even the origin for my very first hero - 'Shotgun.' Thank god I didn't go through with that since they'd have yoinked the name and he was ... well... crap.
