View Full Version : MA/REGEN after I5 and ED, suggestions?

I'm thinking of remaking my scrapper on Virtue into a MA/REGEN. With I5 and ED in mind, does anyone have any advice for me? I've never taken REGEN past lvl 5 before so, I'm pretty much a noob with it from a first hand perspective.

I've started thinking about it with ED in mind...nothing up yet, since i'm planning on possibly making either an MA/Regenner or an MA/Invuln hero with one of my new slots.

Wow, looks pretty solid :D Definate thumbs up, I'm curious, right now with my dm/regenner I have tough/weave, do you think with the new ED changes that they're worth picking up? (As you can tell i'm not the numbers type)

skyhawke

Since I5, I've heard that tough and weave don't pack the punch they used to. Also, I'm hoping this build will allow for a continual attack string with minimal end usage which, in theory, leads to less foes standing and less damage coming in. I guess time will tell :)

Build looks good. Just a few changes I'd make:

I'd replace one of the end redux enhancements in the attacks with accuracy. Why? Because you don't start the game at 44, you've gotta GET there and I think hitting more often will be a lot more beneficial to that effort than just less end used per futile swing. More misses = spent end with no benefit IMO.

Next, replace the end redux in Integration with Heals. Integration uses next to no end as it stands now so increasing its healing effect gives you more bang for your buck.

I wouldn't get revive, personally. I'd use that slot for Cobra Strike (another situational power but last I checked, there was no inspiration that provided an almost guaranteed disorient effect whereas revive....).

I apologize if it's a bit brusque but I'm trying to find a way to reconcile ED with my scrapper concept (think: regen tanker. That's how they all can function). It's not going well either. :(

I left the game/boards for like 3 weeks what the heck is ED? Is that the new Issue coming out? Also does this mean I can't go to the focal point of Issue 5 anymore or will they leave that up?

This is how I respecced my MA/Regen for I6 and ED:

How come you chose stealth? I am trying to respec but dont really know what to do

Sword

I took Stealth because it fit the character concept (sorta ninjay) and when you combine Stealth with Super Speed you get close to invisibility

Edit: I see the build posted here isn't 100% correct. I ended up going Hasten and Super Speed instead of Combat jumping and Super Jump.

Here's my build for Swiftshrike (MA/Regen). It's accurate up to 24, powers wise, but the slotting will differ. I'll slot up the stuff she has right now first, since she already has those enhancements in her powers currently. The 3 healing enhancements I lose from Fast Healing will be placed in Reconstruction, for example.

This build gives me a 623% regen rate, which jumps to 1423 when Instant Healing is active. I didn't slot IH because I didn't see myself needing it. But, depending on how I like it once I get it, I'll see whether or not I want to do 3 recharge/3 healing (which was what I planned to do in I5). That doesn't include the benefits of reconstruction being available every 30 seconds and healing me for 49.3% of my HP (which eliminates the need for IH as an "oh sh*t" power, which is basically all it is as a click). I'll post the I6-compliant builds for Nightshrike (DM/Regen), Spiritshrike (Katana/Regen), Jadeshrike (Broadsword/Regen), and Omegashrike (Claws/Regen) when I'm done crunching the numbers for them.

edit: I already see a mistake. Fast Healing is 3-slotted, not 2-slotted.

Here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/Kension/Jadeshrike/Jadeshrike-I6.jpg) is Jadeshrike's build for I6 so far at 18. She's Broadsword/Regen but I believe the same principles apply as for the other primaries. After playing Swiftshrike for a while, I'm not convinced of the usefulness of Resilience without being able to effectively 6-slot it. So I'm planning to dump it and move Focus Chi up into its slot (or just swap places with FC).

Jadeshrike isn't going to get Stamina early and may wait as late as level 30 to get it. In exchange, she'll slot end redux in her attacks since I can't think of anything better to slot there (1 acc, 3 dmg, 1 recharge redux and....? end redux just makes sense IMO). She's going to 6-slot EVERY power she takes from her primary (only Build Up, Disemboweler, and Headsplitter left to get iirc). With this build (after I filled in the empty slots, of course), she levelled a dozen level 15 SupaTrolls (at the tram in Skyway) without breaking a sweat. They were hitting her for 42ish dmg a pop, all at once and her health dropped some but reconstruction is SO nice when fully slotted.

Any input would be appreciated for future use. I'm respeccing these girls as I figure out plausible numbers.

I'll actually be building a BS/Regenner pretty soon myself Rem. Mind if I use the build as another guide-ish type deal? I've got a pretty good model already (Saturn's Orbit just doesn't know it yet), but a little extra input/another way to look at it never hurt. I'd say it looks pretty solid to me.

Sure! Post-ED, I'm finding that god mode is over. :( Up to the mid 20s (which is as far as I've gotten so far), rarely do I find myself in any situation where my regen didn't totally overpower the damage output of even 10 even level mobs (minions and LTs. I've only done 2 bosses simultaneously). If I get low, I hit dull pain (for the double whammy) then later reconstruction.

Now, I find my health dropping FAST even when fighting 3-4 even levels. And it don't jump back to full quite as fast either. The adjustment period is annoying but we'll see how it works out in the end. ED kills my ability to overslot for maximum regen so I basically took all the slots I gained and threw them into attacks. Soon enough, I'll have all my major attacks fully slotted out and then I'll start slotting pool powers (Swift/Hurdle/Health, Super Jump, etc).

BS/Regen is fun as all hell though. Kinda annoying waiting for attacks to recycle but then, I'm more used to MA and katana.

Level 16: Integration -- EndRdx (A), EndRdx (17), EndRdx (43)

I'd put heals in instead, and a lot earlier too. Integration will be where you get your greatest amount of healing from, so slotting it is more beneficial.

I'd say this is pretty standard. And with ED, you should have plenty of slots for your other stuff. But your main concern as a Regen, is getting the most possible healing, for the slots.

Fast Healing: 3 Heals
Quick Recovery: 3 Endrec
Reconstruction: 3 Recharge, 3 Heals
Dull Pain: 3 Recharge, 3 Heals
Integration: 3 Heals, 1 End Redux
Instant Healing: 3 Heals, 3 Recharge (if you can afford the slots. Instant Healing, while highly situational, is still VERY useful)

Health: 3 Heals
Stamina: 3 Endrec

I was told that ma/reg didnt need stamina. But after ED, Quick Recovery isnt as effictive as it used to be. So can you still skip stamina?

It looks like a good workable build, IMO Burbs. :) The only thing I'd change was maybe pick up Reconstruction and slot it in there somewhere if possible. I've never really been one for Resilience, but I'm noticing that it's making a nice difference in AV battles alongside Haze who has it and seems to take a bit more damage than Azure, so I guess in that it might be more about preference/playstyle.
