Anyone gotten this yet? I really love the idea of this game, but I absolutely despised the first one, (worshippers: we need wood! we need food! We need your tiger to stop pooping all over the place! Aiiie, don't throw us into the ocean!!! [When my worshippers refused to take personal responsiblity, I became a vengeful and angry god...]) and the reviews have me suspicious that it hasn't fundamentally changed enough for my tastes.

The first one could be fun, but it was oh so annoying. Those two things bugging me, my pet being a mentallly challenged giant, and insane mini games I hated wasting my time on..
But yes, I would like to hear what someone thought of the second one

My biggest problem would probably be the mandatory tutorial that took ages and the fact that you couldn't backup your saves. They just wouldn't work when you reinstalled the game.
...I stopped playing after one system reformat.

Same here, never made it over the 3rd level. Stupid pedestrians, retarded pet, stupid magic casting system that didn't always work (NOOO, I didn't want rain!) and all that... Somehow a very promising game and yet so very sucky.

while were on the subject of new gamed. the expansion to Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War. Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War:Winter assault is a very nice pickup. If you have DoW you need DoW:WA
Also has anyone played Dungeon Siege 2?

I've played Dungeon Siege 1. (Don't forget: I before E.) :p
What have I played lately as far as sequels...OH!
The Sims 2.
You will forget all about The Sims. The Sims 2 will succeed where John Romero failed by making us all their bitches. :D

The best part about the first one was when those "I del li del lee, I del li del lee, we can't go no where till we get some wood." Those three fellows who were building that ship.
It made me angry when, after having completed their boat, I couldn't sink it when I hit it with a rock :grr:.

Then one time I played my pet pooped on their wood pile before they could build the boat.

I loved Black & White, despite the somewhat frustrating villagers. I managed to cycle through three creatures, one was the Trial'n'Error Creature everyone without any B&W experience get, or Bozo as I named him. Second one was a Lion, who despite all my goodie-two-shoeness had a mean streak at times, Lionious (B&W was where I got the name Solario from in the first place), and finally was Monkey Boy or Ape'x, who was a well rounded individual with great parenting skills. He took care of not only baby ape, but also the chicken (who roamed the land after you had your baby.) The Family of Three became immensely loving and helping.
I crave a better computer and B&W2.

I loved B&W until the missions just got too annoying. I got to the mission where the village is getting constantly attacked and meteors fall from the sky. ANNOYING!

I made it to the second to last island in B&W but, it just got to be too much of a pain at that point. I'm not big on micromanaging within a game. The second one looks nice but, from what I've read, it's still got the same basics as the first. Might be worth getting when it's hit the $20 or under mark.
I've only played the demo for Dungeon Seige 2 but, so far, it's pretty good. Nothing spectacular, just good.

I made it to the last island ... barely... then I unfortunately lost the CD, but I was already getting burned out by it. There were uneven parts in the game when your opponent did absolutely nothing and other times when the game wouldn't leave yeh alone. I loved the interface process and like everybody else hated the villagers...

The best add to DS2 is the low level natura magic spell "teleport". It transports you back to a civilized area where you can sell/buy/finish quests/etc. You can also return to where you cast it via the glowie orb it leaves at your arrival point :)
Doesn't look like a huge new take on the concept... but a nice hack n slash with skill trees this time.

What about that one where that hick wanted to see a huge monster pet? Everytime I tryed to figure that one out, my pet would eat him. So then I couldn't continue trying to figure it out.

I love Black and White! I never got past the third island, though, because either my computer would crash, I had to move, or I got distracted by other games. One day... one day...
Yeah, I could never figure out the one with the guy that wanted to see a huge monster either.

I imagine Black & White 2 will be exactly like Black & White and Fable. A Molyneux game. Fantastic, amazing, over-the-top concept and hype without any attempt at delivering anything they promised.

You have to pick out all the trees around his house and plant smaller ones so that your creature would look bigger by comparison.

Aye or as I put it... Flashy in presentation and concept, a dud in execution (though I've heard good tales of Fable, I also heard it wasn't as encompassing as it could've been)
On another note:
Anybody remember Freelancer? The mods for that game made it what it should've been...

Freelancer ro><><0r3d my s0xx0rz ;)
Great game. Most of the mods were attempts at super-shipping, though there were a few that were nice additions.

Yes. That is my latest addiction. Hart @ Sims 2. Amazing piece of work there by Wright.
I liked Black & White. I got up to nearly the end, but then lost my progress from a hard drive failure. (I think it was the last island, against the evil Nemesis god.) I am waiting for the second one now - it's on preorder from EB Online as a birthday gift from another wonderful person's giving me a nice credit there. :) Armies. War. NICE. Evil shoots, evil scores!
Anyone looking forward to Ragdoll Kung Fu?

Was made by the lead designer of Fable in his spare time. I have it preordered and preloaded (via Steam.) If anyone else decides to get it, aim/tell/COH email me and we'll see how it's multiplayer is. Kiyah!

I can't believe they removed the food/wood etc. miracles. Those were my most precious spells ever.
And am I the only one here who has beat the first game? Multiple times?

I dunno is i'm a machonist or something but all your irritations about B&W were what made me love the game so much. It was just so...cute! Somehow I found a hidden monster of the SHEEP variety. Now Sheepy eventually became an evil sheep - and any peasants who cried out for wood or whatever just got kicked around or sat on. I pretty much let him do what the hell he wanted - so he did.
Any special task I had to do was blundered through in a homer-simpson-esq manner. "Build this" became "smash this". "Fight Him" became "Run away". "protect him" became "beat him up". "Gather" became "kick around".
...Sheepy was such a retard.
