History:
Leucius was a well-published and respected scientist but his field in advanced harmonics was not very lucrative. His company was losing money as he blindly persued his research. However, he found an eager investor - a company Leucius had never heard of but he didn't care. The investors provided the money that allowed him to continue his work, his only love next to his wife Emily.
The day came when the investor came to collect. They revealed that they were a division of a government organization known as Malta and that they needed the doctor to create solid weaponry to capture and contain a specific hero whom Malta was interested in recruiting. They left him the information and wanted results within a week. Leucius complied in the name of science and his work. He needed the funding. Several such operations were succesfully carried out until Emily stumbled upon Leucius giving the gear he'd designed to the agents and overheard the plan.
She confronted him afterwards and in the end Leucius felt the shame of what he had done. He prepared himself with what technology he knew would be of most use and went to intercept the Malta troops. He stood between them and the hero and helped him fight off the Malta. Soon after Leucius returned home Malta troops attacked his lab. The battle resulted in the destruction of his home, the death of his wife, and the loss of his hearing but Leucius had survived.
He decided to go on and rebuild. He would continue his work but this time he would use it as his wife would have liked him to. He would fight for her and contribute to humanity using his science to be a hero. He built his battlesuit and hit the streets calling himself Dr. Echo.
