View Full Version : X-Men 3: Cast Update
A couple months back none of us knew what course X3 was going, but apparently it's being released May 26th, 2006, and this is the cast thus far (so says Yahoo! Movies):
Cast: Hugh Jackman (Logan, AKA Wolverine)
Patrick Stewart (Professor Charles Xavier)
Shawn Ashmore (Bobby Drake, AKA Iceman)
Halle Berry (Ororo Munroe, AKA Storm)
Daniel Cudmore (Piotr Rasputin, AKA Colossus)
Famke Janssen (Dr. Jean Grey)
James Marsden (Scott Summers, AKA Cyclops)
Sir Ian McKellen (Erik Lensherr, AKA Magneto)
Anna Paquin (Rogue)
Rebecca Romijn-Stamos (Mystique)
Kelsey Grammer (Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast)
Vinnie Jones (Cain Marco/Juggernaut)
Ben Foster (Warren Worthington, Jr./Angel)
Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat)
Cameron Bright (Leech)
Olivia Williams (Dr. Moira MacTaggert)
Michael Murphy (Warren Worthington, Sr.)
Shohreh Aghdashloo (Dr. Cecilia Reyes)
Bill Duke
Kate Nauta
There's also a rumor about that another mutant guest appearance is in this movie, and the character is supposively Jamie Madoxx, aka Multiple Man. Sounds like they're going all out for this one. Honest to goodness. If they add one more character to the cast the movie is going to be 16 hours long. There are entirely too many characters in the X-Universe to fit them all in one movie, but they're trying, and Singer has been successful. The small, 1-2 minute appearances of various characters has pleased a number of fans. So we'll see.
UPDATE: Just found this two seconds before I pushed the submit button:
New X-Men 3 Updates

August 19, 2005
'A1ant' from XMenFilms.net tells us he has received possible new info on X-Men 3, involving returning cast, new filming locations, casting rumors debunked, and a spoiler scene. Here are several clips:
X2 starlets Shauna Kain (Siryn), Bryce Hodgson (Artie), Conner Widows (Jones) and Luke Pohl (X-Kid) have joined the cast all reprising their respective roles in the sequel. The young actors are currently shooting in Victoria, Canada at the Royal Roads University.
Bruce Davison's reps have told XMF that we shouldn't expect to see Senator Kelly back. Davison is currently shooting the highly anticipated mini-series The Triangle (Catherine Bell, Sam Neill) he then heads straight into a movie called The Real Catch.
Vinnie Jones has already been in Vancouver for a costume fitting but he won't return until September to start filming his role as Juggernaut.
Xavier's Institue is gonna be bumpin'. Party central with Jubilee as the lights and disco specialist. Heh.

At least they have the same guy as Colossus.
I think what's most important is that they have all of the original X-men from the first movie. If they switched it up now at the third installment to the franchise it would loose interest. That's just the way it is sometimes. If they replaced Hugh Jackman with...God....Tom Cruise, I think the majority would be highly pissed off at that. Heh. But even the minor characters (like Colossus and Jubilee) have significance in being casted the same as well. The movie just looses its appeal when different people take on different roles. Like Inspector Gadget and Inspector Gadget II. Two completely different casts, and the second one ate ass. Heh.

Hmm, no Pyro. And I thought he did a real good job, was looking forward to his return.
Perhaps someone should tell them that Angel is Warren Worthington the III.
I'm certianly looking forward to a possible Collossus v Juggernaut.

Bleah, I'm really worried. This is being rushed because they didn't lock down Brian Singer quickly enough and he got offered the holy grail of superhero flicks superman. Sooooo lets toss the phoenix story line away, make it a "little" more kid friendly, let that fool who directed rush hour direct, and rush it so our superhero movie comes out before Singer's. Oh well the first two were good. GOD I hope I'm wrong.

X-3 could not and would not and i would never watch it, if they replaced Hugh Jackman at all. seriously, AT ALL. He *IS* Wolverine. Making Tom Cruise would be as bad as him being Lestat in Interview with the Vampire, absolutely horrible beyond all belief.

Um, that's still the plot if I'm not mistaken. The Phoenix is coming in this movie. They've gotten some guy to teach certain cast and extras combat training, weapon handling, etc. There's a huge scene in there (from one of those interviews) that involves the military.
Also, no mention of Gambit. I was sure they were going to put him in this movie. Oh well. They've enough X-men to last for 25 movies now. Heh.

Without Singer it's going to be iffy.
At least Gambit's not in it. Hate that guy.
Dunno. Random cast members have been saying a lot of promising things. Like their character roles have been "uped" or somethings are in the movie that haven't been written on paper because the director wants it to be a surprise or some crud like that. Everyone seems excited, and the script HAS to be good because Halle Berry said, well, I'll quote:
Berry & Penn on Storm in X-Men 3
Source: V Life
August 11, 2005
Halle Berry talked to V Life, the new Variety magazine, about her role as Storm in the "X-Men" movies. The interview was done before she had agreed to come back for X-Men 3.
"I suffered through the two movies where die-hard fans would come up to me and say, 'How come you let them make Storm wimp out all the time?'" she says. "As if I have any control. Last time I asked them to let Storm do something more than drive the plane, and she drove the plane. Storm is a formidable fighter in the comic books; she has a cape and can fly. I've never flown anywhere in two movies except behind the wheel of that plane. I'd hate to not be part of the final film, but I won't spend five months standing around, even though we all stand to get paid a lot of money this time."
"X3" co-writer Zak Penn says Berry won't be disappointed.
"As one of the writers of the last film, I'd say it's true she ended up with mostly exposition and plane-flying," Penn says.
"There was a whole sequence at the beginning of the last film that showed the origins of her character in Africa, and it got cut simply because there are 14 characters to service. But 'X3' has a couple of big twists, and Storm is right in the center of them. The fact that Halle is a very good actress who was underused compounds the wish for her to have a better role.
20th Century Fox's X-Men 3, directed by Brett Ratner, is currently filming for a May 26, 2006 release.
Heh. I find that funny. But I'm glad to know they're going to up Storm's appearance on the screen. I've known Storm to fly around, hurl lightning, bring down gale wind after gale wind, and STILL have time to work out after all of that.

*shrug* I liked Cruise as Lestat. I felt he pegged the brat prince perfectly (and, by the way, so did Anne Rice herself). I'm not a Tom Cruise fan, but I think he personified Lestat. Far more than the gimp they got to play the character in Queen of the Damned.
I'm really surprised Marvel didn't insist on locking up cast members for multiple pictures. I mean, most major motion pictures that stand even a minor chance of spawning sequels, usually seem to go that route.

LOL, i actually thought he was better. And the fact that Tom Cruise doesn't look good as a blonde and I thought Lestat was suppose to be handsome and all that crap. But I didn't like how they did the last movie either, putting 2 long freaking books into one movie? how long... can't believe she let them do that. Queen of the Damned itself should have been like a 3 hour movie...
sorry to sidetrack the thread, but it IS movie related at least :) hehehe

Ratner arrghhhhhh evil director. Didn't Halle fly in the first one? I always sorta assumed she was floating in the elevator shaft that toad threw her down.
Really I hope I'm completly wrong, I hope they made copius notes from Singer and that Ratner can pull this off. I"m not worried about the cast. Just Brett.
and for the record I liked his Rush Hour movies, but best you can say for his direction in them is he didn't get in the way of Jackie and Chris. This move needs vision...hope he has it.

Bring back Ray Park and Tyler Mane!
Seriously.
I mean, why not? Mystique took three blades right through the center mass and she's still around. You don't honestly expect Toad and Sabretooth to be dead from what licks they took in Episode I, do you? I just noticed no Nightcrawler ether. He and Pyro were my to favorite characters in X2 and I feel the ones who held the movie together. Though, I am a fan of a rotating cast, just so they can get more characters into the movies. But yeah, no replacements.
Rush Hour, ugh. Arguably the worse Jackie Chan movie that I've seen. Course that could be because of the annoying black guy. And it did introduce Jackie to the West so I can't knock it to hard.

Never Ever call the first X-men movie Episode I. I'll have to hunt you down or something else threating sounding. There is no need for that kind of bad movie asociation. Maul is dead, Toad I think is too, even though they are played by the same actor.
the annoying black guy.
Chris Rock. :)
Dunno about Nightcrawler. I'm assuming they're cuttin' parts because of FX and what not. The budget should be bigger this year, but look how many mutants we have so far. One that shoots concussive force, another that controls the weather, one who multiplies himself, another that turns into steel, one that freezes things, etc. That's a lot. And I'm sure they're going to want to have everyone do something with their powers in this one. But I could be wrong. Heh.

So was I but they had alot of characters to develop. I would rather wait for a good performance in X3 then just have him tag along with not much to do. Besides, don't you think Collosus would feel responcible and want to help those kids.

Today, Ralph Winter (one of the film's producers) confirmed to The Xverse that there is no appearance by Gambit in X-Men 3 -- but that it might be included in "the next one". This indicates that despite any possible plans to end the series with a trilogy, people involved with production are open to future X-sequels.

No, hes New Orlean. Theres a difference. Like Quebec, they only think they're French. Course, the only thing worse then a Frenchie is a French wanabe.
I liked Gambit, not a favorite, but I liked him. Course that was in the Cartoon so he may be different. Now with Rogue only being 18ish and dating Iceman, I don't think introducing Gambit would make much sense out side of plot device (or alleged Hammer if you will).

Excuse me? Cajuns are as French as Haitians? While there are many different ethnicities that make up the Cajun culture, French is the predominant ethnic group. I am Cajun and my family definitely have French roots. Three French brothers came to the US in the early 1800's and settled in Louisiana, in predominantly Cajun communities. The Cajun language is predominantly French with various words from other languages mixed in. http://www.cajunculture.com/Other/cajun.htm
And Haitians? While there were a few French settlers in Haiti, the majority of the population were former Black slaves and mulattos. Haiti was the 2nd country in the New World to establish independence and the first free black republic. I'm not sure where this correlation came from. http://www.culturalorientation.net/haiti/hhist.html

Well then it would be dry and boring.
Gambit is ostensibly a Cajun from New Orleans. This is demonstrated primarily by having him say things like "cheri" and "mon frere" and the like. He also has the ability to turn objects into kinetic energy, which he does most often with playing cards. This would be a cool ability, if he weren't a complete douchebag. For some reason, he is also highly trained with a bo staff.
