I know a lot of people are curious about how the threats of the week are selected. (forgive my ramblings im working on this in sections at work between tech calls)
I pick them. I pick them based on story and/or art. From time to time I may ask for recommendations (I like Xan's idea of a request link on a profile - look for this after herocorps.com gets running - you will need to be logged in to use it tho), but ultimately it is my choice.
Something has to strike me about it. Something.
What will never be a threat - any of my own heroes. any heroes from my SG unless they are extremely awesome. If there is no image, no threat. If there is no assessment, no threat. Also, I try to only have one user have one char as a threat of the week. which is damn difficult. Cause if they're good enough to have one be a threat, odds are they took the time and effort to make their others just as good.
I have a special random hero link (different from the one on the site) that checks size of the assessment and prescence of images. I pop through these again looking for something that strikes me.
yes i do look through people's sigs here and at the official coh forums.
I also get pms and emails about recommendations all the time.
I also look thru the recent additions for new and updated heroes.
I usually make a picklist of 10 or so at a time and enter those into the database with their appropriate dates. You'll see Poison pop back up if i miss a week or have not had a chance to enter any in.
