One Hit Wonder

Well, it was opening night tonight for the Student One-Act Festival. My play, "Two Drink Minimum" opened the evening and I must say it turned out fabulous!!
My original cast of three has grown to twelve with all the bar patrons, plus the bartender and the bouncer. Everyone did an AMAZING job, I'm so pleased! The audience laughed in all the right spots and my playwright, who has been a nervous wreck this past week, was very happy with the end result. I was congratulated by the director of the last show I acted in and several other people told me they loved it. I'm ecstatic!!!!
I got to sit next to the writer of the final show (who is also the lead actor in my show) for the second half of the evening, and keep him calm, as he had heard rumors that people were going to leave at intermission since they had heard that his show was so offensive. I think it's hilarious, but I can see why some uptight people might be offended. But everyone loved it, they were rolling in the aisles practically. I'll tell you all more about it after the run is over, I don't want to ruin it for anyone who can come see it.
On a slightly sadder note, the second show of the night "No Glass Eyes or Pets" had a turtle, who unfortunately died two days ago. He has been replaced by a papier mache replica, and each night we dedicate the show to him. "This one's for you Ted!"
All in all, this has been a great experience for me, and I'm really glad I got the chance to do it. Three more performances left!
