Hi I have been browsing these forums for awhile and have noticed that some members have given something to these forums, their art. These people strive everyday to make the lives of the people of our community better by giving us kick as avatars and sigs. I know that I am but a lowley noob but I believe we should thank these people for helping us in our times of need. So I think on behalf of this humble forum we should give these heroes thanks. That's why I made this thread, so they whould be able to find thanks easier instead of having to search a thread. That is all. :)

I'm impressed by the willingness of the artists to share their work like they do here. I was wondering, though...what do some of the terms I've been reading mean? "Mega" I believe is based off of the mega man video game? What do "sprite" and "mugen" mean?

What do "sprite" and "mugen" mean?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/PresidentSK/Pres.gif - Sprite Portrait: A picture of ingame content from various 2D fighting games. (most of the time) It's like a screenshot of a character before he/she does an attack. (Games Ex.: Street Fighter, SNK, Marvel Vs. Capcom.. etc.)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/PresidentSK/President%20SK/PresidentSKmugen.gif - Mugen: Mugen is unrelease game engine that allows you to put all the characters of various fighting games into one game or make your own. More commonly called sprites..I don't think the company does it anymore cause their website is down. (been like that for years) However faith ful fans still edit/make the sprites from existing palettes and use them today.
Does this sortof clear it up for you?

Does this sortof clear it up for you?
Completely, thanks. :)
So when sprites and mugens are being made for people, it's more mixing and matching existing bits from fighting game characters to come up with something that looks like the person's character rather than creating from scratch? I do really like the style of them...

Then there are the Timm style edits...
So much art... so much begging to be done! ;)

Yes you can cut, crop, mix, and match. I used to do all that. Now I draw certain pieces that aren't there..and rip the files myself.

Art in the style of Bruce Timm.

It has nothing to do with most of you, so sorry if my post sounded weird. I want to thank Parabudgie for it, as well.
To explain: since I started doing artwork for CoH players back in November 2001, I must have done something around 150 pics. I can count the number of times when I got an honest "thank you" on two hands though (maybe 3 if I had 3 hands). And I'm sure I'm not the only artist who experienced that.
So I want to thank another veteran artist, BvS, for all the work he has done in all this time and everything he'll still create. Thank you!

I would like to thank all the artists whom have bothered to take time out of thier busy scehdule to make a piece of art for myself. It is really appreciated. I would also like to thank the artists whom have done peices for the other member on the board. All the work is fantastic and you all should be proud of yourselves for making the board what it is today.

I thank you Poison, every art piece you make really brightens up my day, just from seeing the amazing lineart, to the awsome coloring, but not just that, the fact that you can say, "Hey! I know that guy, hes my friend!" Thanks, Poison.
