Just heard this on my lovcal newl, Canada now awards gay couples the same legal rights as straight couples, as well as recognising the marriage between gay couples as straight joining Spain, the Netherlands, and Belgium
and I say it's about time we follow the example of our northern cousins (the usa's northern cousins)
but Brian Adams... well, you guys still owe us an apolgy for him....

I don't think there's any apology needed for Brian Adams that can't be cancelled out by apologies required for the Backstreet Boys, Hansen, N*Sync, 98 Degrees, Usher, Aaron Carter, 50 Cent, Ciara and those other five women who look and sound exactly like her, etc, etc.
But yes, it is good news.

Well, there's another random thing for Americans to dislike about Canadians aside from decent gun control and mayo on hamburgers.
Good bless those crazy northerners.

Canada definitely has done something right with this one. Unfortunately, the US will take quite awhile before tolerance and love of our fellow human beings will win out.

Happy for Canada, as I was happy for Spain. I think it's the right thing to do, equal rights for everybody.
And I don't want apologies for Adams, but for Celine Dion.

We managed to trap Celine Dion in Las Vegas for now, where she doesnt pose as big a threat.
As for gay marriage, im glad as well.
I dont see why shouldnt it be legal.

No offense, but you've obviously haven't been here for a long time. Guru/PC/Nexus boards have always been filled with these sort of social commentaries and debates. Hell, the only one that was almost out of hand (which wasn't much) was after George Bush Jr. was re-elected.

Actually the short time I have been here I have seen many many issues get out of hand. Just like to watch on the sidelines than to participate in it.

Well, yeah, but those were over general wackiness. Only once and awhile are these things over actual social issues, and not just bruised pride.

What you're refering to were personal matters and not political, religious or social in nature.

Well, the game's not all that realistic. Remember: You can begin as a lowly security guard and become a superhero, you can play a game with the Grim Reaper to spare someone from death, you can resurrect people with the Resurrectonomicon, the flow of time around your house stops while you're at the shopping mall, you can reverse your age by drinking the Elixir of Life and men who get abducted by UFO's become pregnant with alien babies. Other than that, the realism rules. :D

lol, i spent lots of time and tried to find cheats but could never get abducted by aliens. Was able to see a ghost, but then I think my lady died of fright or something. In Sims 1, I had a house of 4 guys, they all died in a fire because they wouldn't put the damn thing out, and the fireman couldn't either. They kept yelling and everything, after I while I couldn't even tell them what to do cause I was laughing too hard.

OK, I suppose I'm the one to "toss the match." With all the positive reaction to the news, would a negative reaction be accepted in these forums?
I won't hate a person because of what they do in their private life. It's none of my concern. Some of my friends out there are homosexual and they'll remain my friends despite it... but in my view its wrong, and for society to encourage it is just as wrong. To me, it wouldn't be any different than passing a law allowing beastiality, incest, polygamy or pedophilia (under 18 qualifies); In the sense that all exsist in nature, all have been around in our society since... well, forever... and they're all iniquities in the eyes of my God.
Not trying to sound harsh. Not trying to start a fight. Just presenting another point of view... meant with all due respect. I judge the act, not the person. If that isn't the very definition of "tolerance," I dont know what is.
Feel free to disagree with me, naturally. I realize speaking my mind may have signed my ticket off these forums, but I guess that's where faith comes in.

Hate the sin, not the sinner? Sorry, bigotry is bigotry no matter how it is directed. I respect you and your beliefs, why can't you respect them and theirs? And please, don't ever compare my loved ones to sickos that would hurt a child or an animal! I have friends and family that are homosexual. I am a Christian and I study the bible. Sorry, but I can't agree with your interpretation of our loving god.

All he was pointing out is that all those acts are considered sins in the eyes of his religion. In that sense, they are all in the same boat. At least, that's what I got from his post.
And on that note, I'd like to suggest that this thread be closed and another one on the subject be started up in the debates section if it's going to be carried on.

Well, again.. just stating my view on the subject. If by bigot (which can be traced back to mean by God) you mean the standard "One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics" definition, then I suppose I am. If you refer to the "...and is intolerant of those who differ" portion, no I don't believe I'm a bigot in the derogatory sense. I don't hold anyone in contempt for their actions.

I have no problem with starting this debate up in the debates... I bristle when acts that are designed to hurt another person or animal are compared with loving acts between two consenting adults. Rottie and I have talked about our differences in IM, so no need to pull out the firing squad!

Sounds like they based it on Canada, all right.
Or Utah.
In that case, I need to move to Canada or Utah. Because I want to beat the Grim Reaper in a game of "Guess which hand is holding the glowing blue pebble of life" too. :D
lol, i spent lots of time and tried to find cheats but could never get abducted by aliens. Was able to see a ghost, but then I think my lady died of fright or something.
I actually keep a ghost on my one family's lot just for that reason. ;)
I have the Magus family in Veronaville (husband, wife, son...all aspiring occultists), and it seems like everytime they peeked through their telescope in the daytime, Consort Capp would come running over to chew their butts about it. So I got tired of Consort's abuse and the Maguses (the son hadn't been born yet) both hated him, and one fateful evening he came over and did it again. So as he was leaving, I boxed him in on the front lawn with those little curblike barriers which don't even come up to a Sim's knee. They still stopped Consort from escaping, though, and he eventually starved to death. No one bothered the Grim Reaper as he went about his business of turning Consort into a headstone...and a ghost.
As I found out from this strategy guide I bought a day or two later, different types of death result in different colors and types of ghosts, some with different behaviors. Consort starved to death, so he has a weak transparent blue glow to him and he frequently raids the refrigerator, depleting its stock everytime he opens the door. I'm thinking of moving the kitchen to the second floor, where he can't get to it.
But all of the Magus family has the Knowledge aspiration, and the "Be saved from death" Want is a pretty tricky need with a pretty awesome point bonus. It tends to pop up here and there for Knowledge types. So I made it where all three of them love each other very, very much, and everytime somebody with that Want is awake when Consort's ghost comes around, that person just runs around chasing the ghost around the yard until eventually Consort scares them one too many times. After that, it's a matter of taking the nearest living relative and ambushing the Grim Reaper when he shows up. Save your game first just in case, but usually it ends up with an easy 8,000 Reward Points.
The ability to fulfill the "See a ghost" Want is just icing on the cake. :D
In Sims 1, I had a house of 4 guys, they all died in a fire because they wouldn't put the damn thing out, and the fireman couldn't either. They kept yelling and everything, after I while I couldn't even tell them what to do cause I was laughing too hard.
And the stupidity of the Sims in the first game is why I never bought a stove or a toaster oven without buying a smoke detector first. :D

I believe I said this was a dangerous topic for these boards....I believe we should steer clear of social issues and stick with who is the cooler comic character and best powers....keep it light hearted :)
