Ok, most of the posts i've read about d3 is that their main job is controlling (stuns, holds, fear and such) but with I5 i gueess they figured that that made "dark too controlly" or something like that. so they nerfed it. so what do we do now? just move over to playing controllers or is there anyone who's actually tried the I5 differences with a d3 on test?
post your post I5 build questions concerns and observations here.

I tried a little.. but my d3 is just lvl 30 and is an AOE /controllerish build. I only did a handful of fights before quitting the test server with a heavy heart -but here is what I've gathered.
Even with hasten I will have to slot up PG a LOT more than the two hold duration SOs it currently has in it to make it an effective hold (probably 4 -- maybe 3). Fearsome stare which I often used as a debuff and control will probably need at least one recharge reduction and one or tow fear duration enhancements to be near it's prior effeciveness (I didn't spam it all the time anyway), but is workable in it's current format -- but I was likely an odd bird in that I slotted up FS with more than it's auto slot.
Dark servant won't be a very reliable pet due to only being able to have one at a time -- but I can probably work around it by slotting it for quality and then micromanaging it. Of course, that's a bit of a bother and it's PG will be nigh useless.
Overall, I think that as a solo character my alt (the d3) will still do just fine. Kind of sucks I made him to be a team player, eh? With I5 I have massive trouble seeing anyone doing more than small teams (not even medium sized) and in that aspect Dark defenders will still be wonderfully useful. But with the AoE changes I doubt I'd want (or be wanted) to be in larger teams at all. So, probably the solo route will be what ends up happening to this guy - *IF* I can find the heart to play him. I'm not the sort whom enjoys doing solo play and so I will likely just shelve this old character and dust him off for the odd mission or SK or something. Sadly, I was originally planning on having this character be my new main -- but I think issue 5 as it stands will make that.. unattractive to me.

It's a shame what they did to Petrifying Gaze, but Fearsome Stare was in need of a rebalance. Darkest Night and Tar Pit didn't miss anyone that I could tell, though my team was of 3-4 at most.
Basically it came down to an slight respec. Before I had Dark Servant six slotted, but I didn't think it called for that anymore. I put in 4 slots total, one accuracy and three hold and it seems to work great (recharge and duration seem to both be 240 seconds)
I got rid of manuevers and tatics (didn't need them without the herd of pets) and that freed up 10 more slots, so I had lots of slots to give to Fearsome Stare and Gaze and two additional power slots allowing me to pick up the aoe disorient (er... dark pit?) increasing my controlling, and something that eludes me at the moment.
I think with all my accuracy debuffs on top of the toned down accuracy of lts. and such, I actually made some gains on the defense side. The decreased time of immobolization during my heal was very handy too. Aside from the real hit that Petrifying Gaze took, all in all I think the changes will make D3s more fun.

Heres my question about I5:
How would Sonic Blast do for an "offender" build with either Radiation or Dark primary?

It would likely do more damage than the blaster counterparts until the blasters got SO's and the difference in damage becomes drastic.
