I have a Ill/Emp Build. For yall who dont know the abbreviations. It is Illusion/Empathy. I have all Illusion Powers All up to The last power. Empathy I only have 2 powers of that and thats Healing Aura and Resurect. The power pools I have go as follows:

Hasten
Super Speed
Hover
Fly
Telport Ally
Teleport

As You can see Im a freak over travel powers. People always ask me Why do U have so many travel powers. Well, my reason is is that I have no use for all other ones. Fitness, well thats why I have Healing Aura. And for Endurance well thats why they make Catch A Breath Inspirations lol. And I dont pick any Primary Powers becuase they are not avaliable. My last one is avaliable at lvl 32. Empathy well Im not a Healer. Thats what defenders are for. I picked Empathy becuase When u pick a controller it says he/she has Low Hit Points. So If I catch my self in a bind I have Healing Aura. Heal Other well, I cant really heal myself with that. And Usually All teams have at least one Healing Toon. In there. As for All the travel Powers, Question: WHAT DO USE THEM ALL FOR! Answer: Super Speed= Get where I need/want to go quick. Fly= To get over stuff while using Super Speed. And Teleport= To get out of a huge battle when Im low on Hit Points. Well thats my build. If yall want to use it. Go right on ahead its open!

Ok. Dire Straits here. Im in desperate need of a solid Respec for Subconscious (Illusion/FF controller) but Im at wits end on what to do and how to do it. I know what powers I need/want and what powers I dont. But I still need help with the actual build. What do you wise gurus need to help out my Super-Support character become even more super and supportive?

Do you plan to PvP with this toon or just PvE? I had an Illusion/FF at one time and got him to 32 before deleting him. Bubbling was just not for me, decided to roll a Ice / Storm instead.

Well, I just have a mind/FF controller at 45 now so not sure how much relevent input I can throw in but I will try.

On the FF-side all you need is deflection, insulation, dispersion. I also chose repulsion field because while it is only useful in certain situations, when those situations come I love having it. Namely, when a storm defender with hurricane is not available I can protect myself and other range character, which has extended our longevity and allowed us to finish off an out-of-hand group. The first two have 3 defense enhancements, dispersion has 3 def and 3 end redux, and repulsion has one KB. That works for me and I chose grant invisibility to add some extra support. However, many controllers choose leadership and while I can understand why mind control is too end heavy already for me to be running extra toggles so I liked the set it and forget it nature of grant invisibility.

Well, the thing is, I'm out of powers and I just need some help trimming the fat. As Sub is less control, more Support, Im full of Pools. Aid Other, Aid Self, Resucitate [Must have], Leadership [Going to respec out of assault and take Maneuvers and Tactics] and Fitness and Fly. I'd LIKE to work Group Fly in, and am willing to sack Leadership for it, honestly. I'm also toying with taking the psychic epic pool, but I'd like to try it first to see if its worth it or if I could just use those remaining 3 or 4 powers to round out my uber support build. Its still up in the air, but I'd like to at least clean up the messy build and get my slotting right once I hit 40. When I get around to it, I'll post the current build and slotting. I just dont know when to take certain powers or how to slot them, which is where I need help.

Okay Tito, this is quick and dirty but here is what I was able to come up with. There are some slotting done that make this PvP capable so you can change things if you do not wish to PvP.

It's either Spectral WOunds or Deceive. Deceive has a long animation time so it is not to great for PvP and it usually takes several applications to get it to stick. I chose Spectral Wounds for 2 reasons...good damage at a low level and containment gives you double damage so this would be your only real damaging attack until Epics (not counting pets).

I was looking to create a Controller that isn't seen too often, so I decided on an Ice/TA. I am having a lot of fun with him so far.
His name is Alaskan Arrow.

I'm looking for any pointers anyone might have on this build. I'm really not familiar with either power set.

Thanks!

Welcome to the fun world of ice control :) It's something I have enjoyed playing quite a bit. I looked over Grae's build for the ice portion only (as I'm an ice/kin) and the only thing I have different is I included chillblain. Not everyone takes it, I have it for the -fly portion and to immobilize a single enemy if needed.

I would check out Frost's Ice Control guide on the main forums as it's a great resource :)

Isn't Frost's Ice Control Guide like way back at I6 though, or has she updated it?

Edit:
That being said, this has always been a good rule of thumb:
The second and most important thing to remember about ice slick is that IMMOBILIZE ON AN ICE SLICK IS A BAD THING!!! In most cases this is something you never want to do. Most immobilizes give a mob 10 seconds of knockdown/knockback protection, negating Ice Slicks main function for 10 seconds and letting them shoot at you freely. This is why I don't recommend Frostbite and why Chilblain becomes less useful from 12-40, as immobilizing a lot of stuff on an ice slick is generally a bad idea. Immobilization does have its uses though, epically if you're facing stuff that isn't affected by ice slick such as nemesis jaegers, or stuff that goes flying while on an ice slick, like Clockwork.

Hence I avoid Frostbite like the plague, but keep Chillblain to pick up someone that might've not been hit by my ice slick or glacier.

Unfortunately she hasn't updated it, but I think it's useful as in general information about powers, pro/cons, etc.

Normally I would have chillbain on a ice controller, I got it on Blizzard. Difference here is he is a /TA. He has so many slows and knock-ups the chillbain would not be that useful for him. Oil Slick, Ice Slick, Glue Arrow, Shiver...this build is all about grinding the enemy to a halt. However, if you can fit it in chillbain would be good to give you a little damage output.

*MAYBE* for TI, but I really can't see a place to put it in your build.

I'd drop Vengeance for Hasten. You have quite a few recharges in your TA. The only one I have in TA is for EMP Arrow. Slotting the Entangling Arrow is just silly. Ice Arrow's range is nice as it is and doesn't need one.

I wouldn't. Vengence is probably the single best buff in the entire game. Slotting may be off on EA, I think I was slotting for PvP there. If he needs slots he could take it from there, but to be honest I can not see what needs more slots...Jack Frost perhaps? I like range on all my arrow characters, but it is personal preforance. Ice/TA has little reason to be in the thick of things or even be near the team, except for Vengence buff. The ranges enable the controller to stay far from the action and spam all the hard and soft controls in its considerable arsenal. Heck, looking at this makes me want to reroll my Mind/TA. I got him to level 32 before deleting him.

Edit: Fantasmo could drop Acrobatics at level 49 for hasten if he wanted the additional recharge.

Strange thing, you and I think Hugh Axe have the only /TA controllers I know of. You being the only 50. After teaming with yours I wish i kept mine. I am thinking Plant/TA may be my next controller. They seem to have good synergy.

Wow, thanks for all the responses! I've been at work all day, sorry I haven't replied sooner.

Thanks a bunch for putting together a build Grae, I didn't expect that.

It looks like I have some more reading to do on the Ice powers. I have already taken Chillblain, but I can easily respec out of it.
I remember back when I started playing CoH I teamed with an Ice Controller and I was thinking how awesome Ice Slick was. I'm glad you guys warned me about the immobilize. Good to know!

By the way, I won't be PvP'ing this build. He will be strictly PvE.
