So...seeing as how we could use a bit of life over here in the scrapper forum...how about seeing what we're using (and yes...I know the scrapper lists for some of us will be quite large :chuckle: )
For me I've got
Virtue
- lvl 38 dark melee/regen
- lvl 35 katana/sr
- lvl 14 broadsword/dark armor
Victory
- lvl 6 martial arts/regen
Infinity
- lvl 6 claws/invuln
And I think that's it for me....anywho, this thread'll be good for finding people with similar builds, etc ;)

I'd probably also have either a broadsword or a katana scrapper by now if I could get a name I liked. ;)

There's actually a few decent names out there still I think. Like just yesterday I gave my brother the name Blazing Sword (yes....ala Voltron!!) for his bs/invuln scrapper and he got it. Who'da thunk it?

Poeple delete their characters. So if there's a name you can't use, you may want to try again later. Even ask the person with the name if you could use it.
Example: I deleted the name Oppressor so that I could remake him with the right costume after reserving him for a couple weeks and then someone snatches it out from under me as I try and recreate'em. I met'em in game at Ms. Liberty, he had just bought the game and very stubborn about not giving me the name no matter how much influence I promissed.
As for my scrapper.
CaptainAlivan a Lvl 12 Kat/Invul on Virtue.
Had well over half a dozen past 20 but they all got deleted for some reason or another. CA on Justice will be leading the Archery Academy as an Archery/Devices, and together they'll make a full character using the epics to access the other character's secondaries. Should be a very versatile and fun character in RPs.

Structure - Lvl 10 - Spines/Invul
Virtue
Super Structure - Lvl 1 - Spines/Invul
Same character on both servers, just the name Structure by itself was taken on Virtue. It's now my favorite Scrapper combo, also very experimental in some of the things I'm trying with it.

And I really can't fully describe BW without including those last two because they pretty much define my fighting style. I suppose he's DA, without all that annoying damage resistance and healing. :D
Also:
R4-CHL - Lvl 10 Claws/Inv
PQ Pine - Lvl 6 Claws/Regen - although he hasn't been played since Beta. I keep him around, though, in case I someday bump into someone on Triumph.

And a lvl 6 MA/Regen named US Trooper on Virtue. He's my obligatory Captain America clone. ;)

08-19-2005, 03:32 PM
Well, as some of you may have read in my thread at City Hall, US Trooper got caught being a Captain America clone. So, I got a free costume change out of it. So, last night I was playing him (he's actually lvl 8), and I have to say, the MA set, combined with the Regen set is freaking awesome! And for a travel power, I decided I'm going with Superspeed, so I laid the foundation by taking the "flurry of blows" power (I forget what it's called). All in all, I was kicking major but last night. And with 2 Heal Buffs and 2 End Recharge buffs at lvl 10 each, I was rarely below 75% of my max HP, and I never ran out of End.
Just thought I'd share. :)

The flurry of blows is called flurry ;)
And I've heard lots of good things about MA/Regen.....I think Septa plays one as his main and I know there's quite a few other Guru-ites around with it.

I've got a lvl 34 MA/Regen. I love him, VERY survivable, and MA does some really sick damage. Haven't tried him on test yet to see how the Issue 5 changes effect him, but as of right now I can take on +4 Bosses. I wouldn't mind that toned down a bit, almost makes fights a non-challenge.

08-19-2005, 04:49 PM
Masked Revenger is a lvl 21 MA/SR, and he has problems with survivability right now. Is that maybe because SR is harder to play? I mean, Regen let's me almost be a Tanker. Or is it maybe just the level. Because I've noticed that certain levels and level ranges are harder to get through. May be just coincidence, but I feel it.

SR has alot of growing pains. You won't really see how good it can be until you get all your defenses slotted out. But even after that, it's hit and miss. Sometimes you can go whole missions and not get hit, other times you get hit every single time it seems. It's a great set though, but takes alot of patience to let your powers really bloom. Plus up until you get Stamina you'll most likely have some pretty bad end problems, unless you slot end reductions pretty heavy. But even if you do that, you might have more end during the fights but you'll be getting hit more because of the diminished defense. It's all about finding that happy medium, just takes some time. Once you hit lvl 27-28 you'll notice things start to get easier.
Regen is the most balanced set in terms of progression IMO. What I mean is that there is no point in time, as you progress through levels that you experience the growing pains as other sets do. I can only speak up until lvl 34, but Regen has been alot easier on me as far as leveling and surviving from lvl 1 to lvl 34 than any other scrapper set I've played.

Personally, with my DM/Regen (lvl 40 now) the earliest levels were the hardest, at least compared with the SR scrapper I usually played him alongside. SR becomes hardest around the levels where you start getting into AoEs. But yeah...some days SR is amazing, and others it makes me want to break the game.

I think that sentiment could be apoplied to almost every aspect of the game at one point or another. ;)

I would agree with this.
I tried SR up to 14 and it just wasn't fun. And personally, I can't see playing a character up to 30 before it starts to be fun. When I rerolled that character and made her regen, omg. Since then, every scrapper I've rolled has been regen.

I think probably the only reason I have managed to stick so well with Bloodwolf is that I have NOT levelled him as an SR Scrapper. Neither have I gone the route most other SRs seem to, which is going Fighting for Tough and Medicine for Aid Self. Instead, I built on two primary Pool Powers, Stealth, and Intimidation. While Intimidation probably isn't quite as important, I feel Stealth is a close fit with SR's capabilities. (Or lack of it...) By dividing up the enemy, you get closer to the one on one fights that are SR's bread and butter.
Intimidate, I found, is better as a backup defense than anything else. If I get hit hard, an event that all SR Scrappers know happens often, I drop Intimidate on them to stop the attacks. It costs End, but by using it only when I need it, I get a lot better results than trying to slot it for constant use.
Hopefully, some of these features can be worked into SR. I think Stealth would be a great addition to the set, and would free up a Pool for me that I can spend on Medicine or Teleport...
