Its actually a multipart question..
First off if Statesmen and his SG were compared to those heroes of the Marvel/Dc universe roughly what powerlvl would each hero be..
example: would Statesman be of Supermans caliber? or higher? or lower?
just wanted to get a general idea of what you all thought.
Secondly..your main character that you play..not going by lvls but by storyline and what not, with the concept that you have designed for your character what comic hero class would your character be?

I think a closer comparision for Statesman would be Captain America. Tough, strong, valiant, yet not totally indestructible like Superman is. Only major difference is States can fly.

I totally agree with Avenger. He kicked major butt in that CoV Trailer. :D
Graphite

I've always looked at States as the Superman of this world with a Captain America twist and background simular to Batman. In the backstory (way back in the prebeta timeline), Statesman stopped a nuclear blast before it hit the main land. Combined that with how easiler he takes out 5th robots, Freak Tanks and Rikti Saucers in the movies I would definately give him a "power level" on par with Superman.
Not sure what you mean by "hero class" for our mains, but I like to make my heros about on par of the Xmen. They can take a beating, and certainly dish it out, yet still mortal and not Invincible. The original insperation for Graphite was Colossus and Cable, so he should be about equal to them in strength. Of course that was before I got Granite Armor and now he feels alot more like Juggie.

I'd agree with Graphite about Statesman. He's more or less like Catpain America with Superman's powers.
As for Enigmus, i'd say he's kinda like Spawn and Silver Surfer combined, but he usually doesnt use more than 20% of his powers.

Yeah, especially after reading issue 2, I've gotta agree with the Superman power level of States.
As for my characters, Humor's Blue Beetle-esque as power level goes, he's competent, but he's got a ways to go. Afterglow's a bit complicated, he's on like his 3rd incarnation right now.
Yin is definitely on the Dr. Strange/Dr. Fate/Storm area. Heh.
Poison
06-26-2005, 10:26 AM
The real Poison (as I concepted him) has the caliber of Spider-Man. Cool hero, can hold his ground, but also gets beaten fairly often and definitely has foes he cannot take on alone.
Sabbath is more of a Wolverine, when they're not hyping him. Can take on many foes, humans and robots, duel equally powered heroes/villains, but rarely takes on big, superpowered beings alone. (Logan did fight Hulk and all, but usually you see him fighting against masses of ninjas, thugs, aliens, soldiers, etc or dueling one single villain)

I'm thinking States is closer to Captain America, without the shield...
Major 0bvious, I guess he's closest to The Thing -- big guy likes to smash stuff can take a beating and a half -- Could also be the Hulk but Major has a brain and rationality so that kind of rules out the green machine.
Bolero

Solarium is slightly modeled after The Human Torch, so I guess he would be on par with him.
ChairLegOfTruth

I agree with the whole States = Supes thing.
Special Brew is on a par with Quicksilver; he's certainly no Flash. I find this odd as I pretty much loath the two-dimensional Quicksilver.
Rottweiler
06-26-2005, 12:57 PM
Rottie = Spidey if he fought just like Cap. Make sense?
Charon
06-26-2005, 01:39 PM
Charon's of Batman power level, but he's not so good with the preperation. Charon can think amazingly fast on his feet, faster than Batman, probably, but his "Go home and plan how to take this guy out" powers aren't quite as good as Batman's, although they are there.
As for fighting ability, in his current incarnation i'd say he's Batman-esque, due to the fact I chose SS over MA to represent his powers. However in my roleplay version of him, his fighting powers would be like a Batman/Spidey cross, because he has alot of power but the staff requires alot of skill and agility.
As for personality wise he's pretty much based on Rorschach, but that's not power levels so....
MikeKAY
06-26-2005, 02:38 PM
Makis was, of course, created in the vein of the Naturals (Batman and the Punisher mainly, maybe a little Max Payne plus the Oracle) but with a decided edge over all of them. He would without any doubt make the Punisher his bitch (Batman would make a good debate thread. :p) As long as he could stay on the defensive he could probably hold his own and maybe win against most anyone capable if dying from bullet wounds (most of the X-men for instance).
Besides maybe staying alive, he wouldn't stand a chance against any "cosmic" superheroes (I'm looking at you DC.)
8 Ball
06-26-2005, 02:58 PM
Agreed with States = Superman :D
8 Ball...is kind of like Spiderman with Bishop-eque abilites thrown in :D. Definetly capable of being taken out by stronger foes.
Alumette
06-26-2005, 04:12 PM
Alumette is pretty unique (I think). Being a Magic Fire/Energy Tank, I kind of had a hard time with this.
In terms of powers, she's a cross between Wonder Woman and the Human Torch. There isn't anyone really magical out there that compares to her, and I've interpreted her "magicness" as an expression of spiritual energy, tied to an ancient matriarchal mythological construct, so I guess it kinda fits with Wonder Woman in that sense.
In terms of her personality/RP, she's Wonder Woman all the way: all about gentleness, compassion, and protectiveness; but tough as nails when fighting thugs. I just removed the patriotism, for the most part.
So, I guess if the Human Torch and Wonder Woman had a love child, it would be Alumette.
Esbat

Dog Fight has a case of Guy Gardner syndrome, in the sense of how he approaches situations and plays with others, combined with Flash-esque powers, and Spidey's sense of humor sans the Parker Self loathing. I pretty much figure he'd be respected as much as Kyle Rayner when he replaced Hal as The Green Lantern.
Stalking Shadow
06-26-2005, 06:02 PM
Powers-wise, Shadow is an AR/Dev blaster, and I always thought his suit was an excellent way of emulating the devices aspect, sort of like Batman's utility belt, only Shadow relies on it much more extensively. Failing to think of superheroes that rely on stealth and guile like Shadow does, I'd be tempted to compare him to video game protagonists like Solid Snake, Sam Fisher, and film characters like James Bond.
Character/Personality-wise, Shadow's sort of like James Bond/Han Solo, plus sarcasm, and subtle tastes of OCD and PTSD.
Randomus
06-26-2005, 06:40 PM
States is too much of a jackass to be Cap, so yeah, he's Supes. He has more Superman-style powers as well.
I don't know who to compare Randomus to. Maybe a Green Lantern with psychic powers. PI is pure pulp detective, but, y'know. Undead. The Executive Edge is a cross between Sanjuro and Lex Luthor. The Immortal Torch doesn't really have an analog, concept-wise.
Cryogentic
06-26-2005, 07:00 PM
I have no idea who to compare Cryo too, probably lack of knowledge of heroes, but I can't think of any that are close to her.
Amicitia is probably close to Jubelie
Heavenly Light is just a strong martial artist

His group the Freedom Phylanx (I think that's it, im sure its spelt wrong) imo is like that of the Avengers
States himself is a Thor/Capt America inspired hero...imo
And my hero is inspired by Superman in all aspects except for his origin and fire/SS power set...

Hmm. Suede definitely came out as a sort of Spidey crossed with Max from the show Dark Angel. With a few other things, perhaps. She mainly relies on her acrobatics and enhanced sight - definitely a smart alec. Highcard was my tribute to Gambit at first, except French instead of Cajun. Not sure who her powers would be like, they're more along the lines of messing with people's perceptions.
Sebastian Kain
06-26-2005, 10:07 PM
President SK is inspired by Lex Luthor (somewhat..)
Meltman
06-27-2005, 12:30 PM
Meltman would be around the same level as say, Spider-Man's/Flash's Rogues galleries.
Protok has powers near Ironman's in terms of offense, but he's at least Superman's equal in terms of being a dick.
Tarberetta
06-27-2005, 12:48 PM
Wow..I have no idea who Tarby would compare to. Not many broadsword weilding catgirls that I can think of in print.
As for States, sounds like Capt America with Superman's powers
Akamaz
06-27-2005, 01:16 PM
hmm, i think that they are right about the whole states=superman thing.
as far as my characters, Agent Q. is around the x-men power levels so far (mortal) but eventually will fall into his whole "avatar for an extradimensional being phase"
Akamaz is someone i would really compare to Lobo (or at least what litle i know of him)
Mikoto is along the same power level as Deadpool, but personality wise (once she recovers) Jubilee
Last but not least, MDS 0087. Iron Man all the way, with a lil bit of Cap thrown in for good measure
Impact
06-27-2005, 04:04 PM
From the time I made him Frost was supposed to be my Superman-esque hero, so his strength (eventually) will be comparable to his.
Doctor Blight will eventually be on scale with maybe Green Lantern, in that once he gets full control of his powers he'll be able to absorp and change nearly any kind of energy to another, with whatever use he wants
My other heroes were definately inspired by others but don't really have anyone, Marvel/DC-ish that I can think of right now to compare them with right now...(I did just get up :chuckle: )
Masked Revenger
06-27-2005, 04:32 PM
Yeah, States is the equivelent of Supes.
As for my characters, I based Masked Revenger on Spidy/Daredevel, though power level wise he's much closer to Daredevel.
Captain Noble is my Supes-type character, though more in personality than power level. Power-level, I'm not sure who to compair him to... most of my characters, with the exception of MR, are mostly based on DC characters, Cap being no different, but I can't think of a straight blaster that matches Cap off the top of my head.
Jr. Statesman and Beat Poet would be on par with the X-Men in terms of power level.
Sidekick-Boy is harder to define... there is no-one in comics that I know of that heals people as their power. As for his personality, I'm having trouble deciding if he should be the "Gee-whiz" type character, or a more Tim Drake type side-kick.
Chris
Jade_Dragon
06-27-2005, 06:07 PM
It's possible that States is closer to the Captain America level of power, but from the descriptions of him in the game and other references, plus the fact that he holds a position as "the person everyone thinks of when they think 'superhero'", then I would say States' power is pretty much the same as Superman's. He is essentially that archetype.
Jade Dragon and Blue Diamond were based on Green Lantern and Superman respectively, so in their original incarnation, they were CLOSE to that level of power. Close, but quite a bit weaker. Blue Diamond, for instance, may be able to match Superman's power as long as he has energy left. Once he runs out, though, he's helpless. He'd have to stall for time while he absorbed more energy, and likely Supes wouldn't be stupid enough to fall for that.
In City of Heroes, further, they are not nearly that powerful. Blue Diamond absorbs energy faster (through Rest) but also runs out faster. And he's not as powerful as Superman. Maybe when he gets closer to 50, but really, CoH doesn't allow you to have that power level. I would put his strength as close to Colossus or The Thing.
Bloodwolf is a skill-based hero, so he's at least a match for Batman or Captain America. While he's not as skilled in combat, (he's self-trained, in prison) his stealth and willingness to do whatever it takes to win probably makes up for that. Batman could probably beat him, but Cap is too nice, and that could probably be taken advantage of.
Sandy's power is approximately equal to a Marvel elemental Blaster, maybe Firestar or Dagger. Or DC's Starfire. She is not up to the Human Torch's level, and in fact while she may be physically as strong as Starfire, she's not nearly as resiliant. She can also be in danger of hurting her human skeleton if she attempts to use the full strength of her robotic parts.
Joe Everyman is a human-level crime fighter, and never wants to be anything more than that. While his ability to decieve and manipulate comes remarkably close to The Shadow's mental abilities, or Batman's skill and training, he really isn't comfortable going up against archvillains and world-shaking forces of evil. His foe is the mugger on the street, who victimizes the common man.
Sun-Scarab
06-27-2005, 06:40 PM
Sun-Scarab is Blue Beetle,Dare Devil,&Taskmaster in a blender.
he's a natural Hero with that knows how to use his tricks,
& way less mental than the Bat.

Great question actually, Stan. I can't remember anyone asking this in a very, very long time, and it helps understanding characters a lot.
Blue Bolt
06-28-2005, 06:00 AM
People keep telling me that BB is a copied Flash or just a standard speedster, but honestly I had little to no knowledge of the Flash when I made him. If those two were to race, the red guy would totally obliterate the blue guy :p BB is awesome at evasive manuvers and is good at traveling short distances, but he still has the endurance of a normal human being. Who can warp time to his advantage. So to sum up, Blue is uncanny at dodgeball but will poop out in a marathon. :D
Vendel
06-28-2005, 06:57 AM
Ok...im back from my self imposed exile. And needless to say this thread is what brought me back so feel proud stan...heh.
OK Vendel is based heavly on SuperPatriot(sp?). But instead of being a hero who is turned into a cyborg soldier Vendel is a soldier turned into a cyborg hero. Does that make sense?

Gold Rush
06-29-2005, 04:49 PM
Yeah, Yeah. Statesman, a basterdized Superman/Captaim Marvel/Ponce De Leon Bastard.
My characters are simple.
Gold Rush = If Blue Bolt won't take it, I will. Yes, this character is based on The Flash! Mostly an homage from an online inspiration (I saw someone in Outbreak with the name "Esreverhsalf" wearing the viilianous "Professor Zoom" costume and noted it worked quite well. I've taken aspects from Jay Garrick and Barry Allen and meshed them all the while giving him the jokester personality of Wally West. Yeah, he does have the cheesy Speed Force :) . Actually, if pegged on it, I could say he is part of a "family" line similiar to the Flashes', but just on a parrallel Earth/Dimension.
Kamen Rider ZX = A bit harder to pin down, but he is based on the famous/numerous Kamen Rider line of heroes in Japan. More specifically, he is more of a Kamen Rider Black homage. (Americans may remember the Saban TV show, Masked Rider; This is whom he is based on.) It is a bit nebulous to compare him to an American hero... I would say Spiderman/Daredevil with man-made mutant DNA and angst over his situation.
Dark Detective = Batman-type. With a bit of "The Shadow" thrown in. Also, some more mysterious bells and whistles added of my own. :)
I have others and possible plans for others, but I it'd be nice to hit level 50 (or 40!) when I can find the time with these first :)

No, never hung out there.
I have been known as "Space Cobra" and "BioHunter" (and "BioHunter-Silver") over the years in many places on many boards, chat-rooms, and games. (Unless someone would take/steal my BioHunter name! :P ).
And yes, I do have a "BioHunter" character in CoH. A sorta main one as well. He is from a Japanese Sentai show. More specifically, a villian. Most never heard of him outside Japanese fandom. :) An american comparison would be more like a Bounty Hunter (Boba Fett) with Martial Arts action. Does have a code of honor about him.
