SPOILERS!!!
http://dragonage.bioware.com/
So, I preordered this today after going over the site extensively. The way BioWare is promoting it is masterful! They're saying that this is the "spiritual successor" to Baldur's Gate and includes many things they couldn't do in those games, due to the IP's stringent rules. Like blood, romance (and the resulting "sex" scene(s)), language, and the like. This one is being built on their own proprietary game engine (named 'Eclipse'), not the traditional Unreal 3 and will come with a toolset that they say will be the exact same one as the developers used to make the game.
As can be expected, my favorite characters are Morrigan and Alistair and I can guarantee those two will be in my team. I think the attempt at realism (i.e. decapitate someone and blood shoots up from their neck as the body falls to the ground) is refreshing and creating a new world from scratch with the depth typical of Bioware's game is awesome. It gives them a lot more freedom than a game set in Faerun would (especially after TSR killed most of the better gods).
Game looks awesome and I'm looking forward to it (and I tend to stay away from offline games).

I've kept my eye on if off and on. Looks to be setting itself up nicely. Not sure what system to buy this for, PC, 360, or just wait for the PS3 version. :/

What Gold Rush asked. PC, 360, or PS3? I mean is it a consoley game ported to PC (ala borderlands) or a PC game to console? I'm leaning towards the 360 version for achivements and like..<sigh>

Not multiplayer, which is what me and my friend enjoyed about Baldurs Gate. Not that I won't eventually get this.

The digital download has been officially out since yesterday (I guess for pre-orders). Game set to come soon, but still deciding.
Achievements for my 360 or my PS3 or just tap into the PC-goodness (and all the potential add-ons it may entail)....

LOL achievements. Why do people place any value on them? It's a marketing ploy to give replay value to many games that don't merit it :P
PC > Console
Unless you're on Krypto's old PC, in which case
PC > Console > Microwave > Calculator > Abacus > Krypto's Old PC

Probably just gonna get it for my 360. I want the stuff for Mass Effect 2 if I can and I like achievements...that and I worry about my laptop being crap both in the seeming to want to die a lot and the being behind the times. If I didn't love even the option of gaming I'd try wiping it and selling it for my Macbook.

I don't buy PC>console in all cases. It most cases games designed for a console style and ported to PC aren't better on the PC. They feel....truncated on the PC. Flight sims, shooters, even strategy games developed for console rarely feel as good on PC. IMO at least. Actually I think Borderlands is a good example of this, or even Champions (yes I know PC game, but developed with console controller in mind), deep games made to run an a console controller ported just don't really work. You think Balder's Gate, the real one, would port well to an xbox?
I don't necessarily think this makes them less fun by the by, just less complicated :) I'm not sure I want to play Falcon 4.0 at full sim anymore :) Although an IWAR level Mech Warrior game might be fun :)

Make a game for a retard...
I'm just saying. Consoles are still the PC's little brother that was dropped on his head in the womb while mom was shooting heroin.

Yeah, this. Kinda hard to build depth and subtlety into a game intended for the 'Short Attention Span' theatergoers.
And I'm loving this game to death! Morrigan is BAD ASS, I love that chica!

I agree about the hate for achievements, but I am on a demented quests to invalidate them.
At any rate, since Iggy points out, I will initially be getting the game for the Mass Effect 2 goodie so that means XBox 360 (since I played Mass Effect 1 on the console).
I am still tempted to buy the PC version and may do so.

This game is everything i had hoped for and am loving the shit out of it. Will probably go down as my favorite PC RPG of all time. Just a fabulous job done by Bioware. Once again they have failed to dissapoint.

I'm certainly enjoying it so far. Played through 3 origin stories before deciding to stick with a Human Mage. Combat is fun, but it's a little repetitive for me. Find Group, Set on Fire, Shock, If big enough Stun, Heal, repeat. It is fun as hell to set people on fire though, so no real complaint there.
On the side note, I play both, but I vastly prefer consoles, and my reasons are pretty straightforward. I don't really like point and Click interfaces at all. I don't really know why but they just feel... I dunno, slow and clunky to me. I like having buttons that I can just hit as opposed to having to fumble around the with the UI or remember one of 6 dozen hotkeys. Secondly, (While from a technical standpoint I'm incorrect) I much prefer to play games on my giant HD television while being able to have the GFX at max with little to no slowdown, which is something I'm sure I'd have to spend an arm and a leg on every single year to do with PC games.

Mass Effect? :)
Okay, not really similar.
Actually, their Baldur's Gate games are sorta the same, but it is now First-person perspective and not helicopter-perspective.
I can't think of much anywhere else... There may be some that have one or two similiar things..

Mass Effect is Dragon Age in space...play style wise. If that's what you're asking. Combat is a little different, but still clearly the same company made em.

Finally relented and bought a copy of this.
I'd say it's much more like the Knights of the Old Republic games in its feel, especially combat and the dialog tree.
