Yes. Lucasarts is releasing a remake of the original Secret of Monkey Island. Remake as in redrawn. And although I'm not completely happy with the art style, I can't wait for the voice over. And I love MI from the bottom of my heart anyway.

And Telltale (the new Sam & Max game guys, I think) will start releasing monthly episodes of a new Monkey Island game starting July. Can't wait! :D

This was a nice surprise.

I guess the fact that LucasArts is releasing/re-making this game is a bit of a surprise, too (since they now seem content to just hold the rights and farm out the work to other studio ala Bioware making the MMO primarily).

I'm happy, I mean I love the old Lucas Arts adventure games and MI was one that I never got my hands on and now I can finally experience it.

Awesome! I *LOVE* Monkey Island! I've been jonsing to play this again.

Are they just re-doing/releasing the original? Or are the others coming out as well?

Beat my first run through and loved it. Took like 12 hours or so. Gonna retry it like tomorrow on the classic graphics/version only

You mean the special edition, not the new game, right?
I love the voice over, but I must admit I don't like the new graphics (or rather the art direction) too much.

Yes special edition and the voices were great but I did find the art direction mostly good. Can't wait to try te classic, though I do kinda wish there was a setting to get the classic version with the newly recorded dialogue overlaid lol.

Oh, and in case you missed it at the end of the new credits:
it reads "Guybrush will return"

How Monkey Island 2:Special Edition should look. The video is pretty cool

Some Germans have put together what they feel a Monkey Island 2: Special Edition should look like, complete with high-res backgrounds made from original concept art, along with a quasi-3D overlay.
