Not with Spring in the air. If you'll excuse me I'll go be dead until Summer hits.

Had ribs from one brother. Then went to a different brothers place and ate steak.

I am going to do something a bit unusual for me; post private pics! (But I ain't in any! ;p ). This was a shindig that occurred via invite roughly 20 days after the first post (5/30) and it was good timing this subject was brought up. My friend tends to hold these large scale events (maybe I will post Halloween '07 pics to blow you all away! :p ) and complains bitterly about the cost and all.....then does it AGAIN in 6 or more months. I chip in with money or just buying lots of stuff that is needed and others do, too. Just a fun get-together of friends, co-workers, aquaintances, family, etc. I am only their because of the "friend" ticket.

Lots of pics coming.

So here is the prep-fire work. My friend has an area out in his back yard of a "makeshift" pit for cooking, roughly 7" by 3".

So here is the "sacrifice". My friend just came back from the Phillipines for family visiting and wanted to try his hand at preparing the pig "Phillies" style. Actually, this is not the first time he's roasted pig. He tends to have wide interests (which I share) and cooking is one of them.

The patio/back of the pit. We got the sheet metal up to reflect the heat back on the pig where it belongs. My friend has set up his DJ equipment to keep the music going. For this particular party, he mostly played stuff from the Phillipines, but a few other things did get played, especially as the party went later into the night, mostly club/electronica/trance/dance/and a few Heavy Metal options, including "Nordic Rock".

The guests are milling in; ready to make "pigs" outta themselves!

So, here is the "victim" in the contraption, roasting away. Crackle, Crackle, Crackle. It took a few hours to cook it thoroughly and it was prepared the previous day by hand. A long process...

Pig is ready to be carved up! (That's my friend's Dad in the center, deciding on a plan of attack).

Pig head-on. Lifeless eyes...

The pig went fairly fast; my friend complained that not many showed up; he sent roughly 100+ invites and got about 75 confirms and a tad less than that showed up for this particular shindig. He's had big parties in the past. He tells me he's had some bad parties bring bad folks over that just want to start something and be load (and get the cops called). Still, I have never seen it; most of these tales seem to come from his college/high school days. In the end, he agreed it was "a good sized party" and was satisfied with it.

Another Phillipine specialty, fried pork. Tasty. I forget if the "victim" gifted this to us our if we bought the extra parts from a cousin of his...

Friend's Dad again, clowning around with the pig head. Everyone took a turn on the hapless victim.

The host himself.

Cousins of the Host. Having fun. Eating pig.

Another night shot. Some members of the local brewing hobbyists club in town. They provided us with many samples in many flavors. I tend toward the Lambic varieties, but I was drinking enough Captain Morgans and whatever else I felt like in the hard liquor department.

Another Phillipine specialty. Our host offered his "balls" for all to partake (since he is...phillipino). So, we all munched and chewed his sweaty balls for all they were worth....and asked for seconds. :P :chuckle:

Great pics GR. I went to a pig picking a couple weeks ago myself. They had a live band and a 100 ft slip n slide!

Slip-n-Slide would be awesome. If you got/get any pics, post them. :)
