I know i14 is still on Test, but we definitely need a thread like this.
So far I've made two short missions:
"The Battle Against Baron Von Rotten"
and
"Take Out The Human Flashbulb"

Post yours!

I just published my first arc. I'd love anyone here who's interested in playing through it to let me know what you think. It's a few days work and I think I'm pretty proud of it, haha.
Particulars:
Name: A Case for Mr. Mystery
Synopsis: A villain shrouded in mystery has what should be a very simple task for you and some schmoes from the Isles. Should just be some quick cash for very little work... Right?
Arc ID: 18273
Morality: Villainous
Length & Difficulty: Five missions, each containing an EB. Missions two and five contain AVs, but aslong as you're not playing on Relentless, they should appear as EBs. I've soloed the entire arc with Mr. Mud and it was challenging, but not impossible.
Let me know what you think!

Will have to try it out Charon.
Also just talked to Burbs and he does plan on making a forum for people to put their arcs in. It will be in the CoH/CoV area. He thought he mentioned that in the I14 thread somewhere.

Someone want to check out mine? Not sure how tough it is, i was able to solo it on my MM, but a few parts were tough (Last Boss for instance). Most of the named villians are characters of mine (as im sure most of you have done).
Its far from being completely done, but its a start.

I've published two arcs:
A Four Mission arc called "Take Five". Lame name, definitely, but it was all I could come up with at the moment. Newborns in a Paragon City hospital have been disappearing.
Mission 1: Defeat all, find two glowies
Mission 2: Find a glowy
Mission 3: 4 Destructable objects
Mission 4: Showdown with an AV
Second arc is called "A Swarm of Plagues". Three missions. Zombies are attacking a warehouse known to hold magic artifacts. They don't seem to be Banished Pantheon Zombies, and Vahzilok isn't known to be interested in magic.
Mission 1: Defeat all
Mission 2: Find the glowy
Mission 3: Defeat an AV
Lemme know what you think of them. I'm sorta proud of the first one, kind of ambivalent toward the second.

Just for everybody's info, I've unpublished my arc. The newest patch have completely ripped it apart, my NPCs aren't working anymore, half the HTML codes I used aren't working and my descriptions are gone. I've been repairing stuff every 2nd patch now, so I'll just wait till the whole thing is live before bothering with it.
Once it's live though, I'll post the info again and it'll be the updated version.

Here's mine!
Old Habits Die Hard
by @Solos
Arc ID: 14911
Morality: Villain
Level Range: 1-50
Length: Medium (2 missions)
* Mission 1: Click glowie
* Mission 2: Defeat bosses, destroy objects
Synopsis: A routine heist goes embarrassingly wrong. You'll have to work fast or risk becoming the laughing stock of the Rogue Isles!
Difficulty: Easy (there's a couple of custom bosses but if you can't kill them you should think about respeccing!)
Time Sink: 10-20 minutes
It's dev choice so if you hate it you'll have to actually tell me if you hate it, 1 starring won't budge the rating. Also please point out spelling and grammatical errors so that they can bug me with no chance to fix them! Oh yeah and don't exit it the first mission as soon as you click the glowie like some morons do!

Today I tested out "Pandemonium" and "A Case for Mr. Mystery".
Pandemonium:
I couldn't get past the first mission. Terrorform was a sufficient challenge but Reflex defeated me quite handily multiple times (in our first fight, he two-shotted me). I had to come back from the hospital several times before I finally won. By the time I got to Victor, I knew it was hopeless. After more defeats I had to give up. For what it's worth, the villains seemed cool and creative, but the high difficulty in the first mission made this a tough "hook" to buy into for the rest of the arc.
A Case for Mr. Mystery:
Really great storyline. I noticed a couple of minor bugs, mostly with the pathing of my allies and their willingness to help sometimes (several times Uppercut would just float there and not attack), but these aren't the fault of the author. If I could change one thing I wouldn't have the 3rd mission be a kill all, because those Sabre's hit HARD! :p I loved the revelation at the end, well done.
I'll test out some more Guru arcs soon.

Actually, I just removed the Kill All element of Mission 3 today. I also made the two objectives in the final mission linked, so the drop off point doesn't spawn until you've rescued Uppercut. Both Uppercut and Deadbeat are supposed to be set to aggressive... So, far from standing there and doing nothing, when I played the arc they did nothing but get me into trouble. ;)

Today I tested out "Pandemonium"
Per your feedback I went and took a look at Reflex's powers. Even on standard, the stats of his SR and MA don't change any. He loses some powers but the big ones... melee defend, range defense... are all still there, so he'd be just as hard to hit even if he was set to 'easy'.
I'm curious though, did you try it solo? I did write in the arc description that it's not meant to be soloed and that people playing it should bring friends. I built it to be more like a (very short) task force. Every mission has at least an EB in it. The end boss would be intensely hard if soloed. I ran it today on my regen with my friend's regen and he had a little difficulty with Reflex as well, and that was on heroic. SR is just hard.
What difficulty did you try it on?
Edit: It occurred to me that practiced brawler and elude may not be necessarily in character for Reflex, so I knocked his SR down to 'Hard'. I should stress, though, that a team is typically needed for this.

In any case, bring a team. It's not meant to be soloed. :)

Well, im on your last mission Shepp, but Pandemonium keeps running around and i cant do enough damage to kill him, he stops, attacks once, then goes on a 3 mile run, comes back, attacks once, goes on another run.......its pretty damn annoying
Will post more once im finished
Ok, finished it, ended up having to keep him permenantly taunted to keep him from running. Good arc, tough solo, but not too tough, Good balance.

Nah, he's set to melee. A custom villain in an arc done by a friend of mine did the same thing. After taking some damage he started running all over the place. We were worried at first that he was making for the exit, but turns out he was just running around like a loon.

So I've copied over my two short AV-Fight vanity missions:
"The Battle Against Baron Von Rotten"
and
"Take Out The Human Flashbulb"
and while The Baron has gotten a rating of four with no comments, HFB's down to 3 stars, and I logged on this morning to like four /tells from people complaining that the mission was too hard.
I'm torn on this. I don't like my missions getting bad ratings; but at the same time, one of the main reasons I find MA exciting is BECAUSE people can make more challenging missions than the standard fare.
The mission isn't impossible. So far I've beaten it solo with an ill/emp controller and a mercs/traps mastermind, both of which I consider pretty good considering that the ambushes ignore pets and zero right the heck in on the player character... a dangerous proposition for an invisible controller and a typically-deadly one for any sort of mastermind.
I guess I've already made up my mind on this one; I'll take a low rating if I personally think my mission's fun. I just wonder... Should I be putting disclaimers on my missions that say "Warning: This is hard. Not for ticket-farming."? Do people need that?
itsthesheppy
04-09-2009, 02:29 PM
The issue I think you're having is that it's a single one-mission arc. I've noticed that those arcs get lots of play, probably because people are going for the ticket bonus at the end of the arc, and aren't looking to invest a lot of time. They also may be running the missions on invincible. I mean, HFB tore my tanker to pieces, but that was on invincible, I didn't go into unstoppable, didn't use any of my temp powers, etc.

I'm having this issue and have to sadly lower my difficulty. HFB beat the bejezus out of my Thugs/Poison Mastermind. He has a huge advantage in close quarters.

Just a thought here, maybe each of us should make separate threads for the missions we create, this way you don't have to go searching through this one to read feedback, etc. I think that's one of the reasons Burbs made a different section for MA

Hmmm, RL has been preventing from having any form of a digital life. I don't even have time to check email or Facebook! But with i14 live, I definately want to get into the swing of things.
So... dumb question, but I'll ask all the same...
With Graphite now being a Mender, Hero of Time and all that, would anyone be interested in some Future Frolicking? Basically I can run threads of alternate timelines and the what not. Ether that or save the planet from Paradox B. Or maybe somewhere anywhere in between.
I just know my ingame RPs never got much "loven."
And pleeeeeeease tell me we can set up missions with the 5th!
