View Full Version : Should we have a new colour scheme on these forums?

Yes I'm English - hence the 'u'.

I though perhaps a new colour scheme might make these forums look a little friendlier. I was browing the other GURU sites, saw www.guildwarsguru.com and thought it was pretty cool. I'm not trying to impose any sort of GURU-centric theme here, just usign the easy-on-the-eyes colour there as an example.

So what do you think? Yay or nay?

I like these the way they are, but maybe we could get some extra skins for the forum we can select as our own option? :father:

I've always found that solid black is the best background for artwork, since any colour other than that tends to detract from the work itself.

The flip side is that black, as a background for text, makes the text difficult to read...unless the text is white ;)

Contrasting shades/colours like Black and white tend to be a strain on the eyes. Also some dyslexics find it easier to read forums of colour. That's why I thought a change might be good. Oh and we'll DEFINATELY be getting more skins.

I like ours better. Has more of a comic book feel to it.

All that calming brown in the other one made me feel like I was in a forum for herb yoga nature aromatherapy fanatics.

I, personally, think a change would be nice. But the wonderful thing about these forums is that you can, like mentioned, keep this skin secure as is while adding other skins. So, in my opinion, yes, go for a new look, but keep this look an option

I don't mind the current scheme, but as mentioned adding the option to select different skins would be nice.

I second that.

edit: also, would it be possible for one of the skins to be the 'old school' style with Yellow-guy and Blue-guy from the original boards??? Huh??

I think this is one of the better stles I've seen. I mean, there are plenty of other styles, but those look even more cartoony and blobby and WindowsXP-y..bleh

I mean, it's funny that we're a forums for a game..a superhero game, and we look more professional and organized than a lot of the sites who are all "we r teh 1337 g4m3rz w/ teh m4d f0rumz 5ki11z"

Just my thought.

I always like the option to have another look than the normal one. I think it would be cool to have a "normal" blue-ish skin for CoH, and perhaps a red-ish skin with CoV instead.

Thanks for Poison to change the sub-forum icons into the CoH power icons. I think is looks way better than the strange normal ones which didn't blend well with the black background.

We could use symbols from the Electricy Manipulatin Set for the CoH skin (nice light blue) and symbols from Power Punches for CoV (villianous red).

Also, skins in complete black, purple, yellow and green for all the other tastes in colo(u)r!

Poison, support this idea!!

Change the scheme, no. Add more schemes like the Old School CoH scheme, yes.

I've started changing the thread symbols for CoH icons. Not all look good yet, but not all icons exist in all colors... But give it time. ;)

Perhaps use Inspiration pictures? Small ones for nothing new, the huge ones for new posts or something similar?

The problem is there are 5 gazillion different icons. New thread, Hot thread, Moved Thread, Closed Thread, Thread you posted in, all name with new posts and no new posts, etc.
No worries, I'll find a system.

I like the way they are currently.

I think the new thread symbols look cool, you ahve to get used to it, but that is the smallest problem!

While overall, I like the new thread symbols, I would like consistent color schemes (grey for no new posts and red for new posts, for example).

Yeah, you're right, but I have to take Poison into custody, cause it is really hard to find fitting symbols that are avaible in both a grey form and in the color of your choise (except, of course, you use a graphic tool to make every symbol grey)

Yeah, I understand, and I can live with it if it never happens, just wanted to say that while I had the chance. :)

I'll let them like this for now. But I do want to change them in the near future, so active threads/forums have the Superstrength colors (red, yellow symbol) an d old ones are grey.
