I suppose I could just blog about this but I figured I would post it here since my most heated political debating occurred on these forums.

The debating alot of us engaged in for the past 8 or so months is nothing personal. I would hope no one would misconstrue anything I posted as a personal shot at them. It is politics, like religion, it brings out some heated emotions. In the end I consider most of you good people and quite friendly. Even you Sheppy ;). The debates we engaged in actually helped me become more educated about the issues than I had ever been in the past.

Next, due to my decision to debate on the side of the Right, I would never admit this until now. I agree with something I believe Krypto posted a few months ago. McCain 2008 is not the same McCain from 2000. I saw it alot during the debates and during his speeches. I believe his policies are the same but his "fire" that was there in 2000 was alot less intense. It is a shame, really, because in 2000 he could have been one of the finest Presidents this country has ever seen.

Lastly, even though I voted Republican, I stayed up late last night just to hear Obama speak. Why? Because this is a major point in American history and I wanted to witness it. Regardless of your political affiliation, you can not ignore the ramifications this has on this country and possibly the world. A man from a race once enslaved by the US is now going to lead the country. It is a pretty amazing thing, in my opinion. I will admit, Obama is an amazing orator much like Reagan was. I think his words will go to inspire people throughout the country and the world even if his policies do not.

I wish the best for our new president and hope people can put this nasty election behind them and move on. Going to be an interesting 4 years.
