So I'm still working my way through CoV, and I just wrapped up all of Westin Phipps's evilness. The "The Bane of the Heart" (http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Westin_Phipps#The_Bane_of_the_Heart) story-arc confused me a bit, though. It essentially shows that the Bane Spiders are all part of a very fragile hive-mind, and if a SINGLE Bane Spider is "awakened" into conciousness, it pretty much brings Arachnos to its knees.

Does anyone here RP as a Bane Spider? If so, is your character part of that hive-mind? I haven't unlocked my SoA's yet, but I'm curious as to how I'll RP my way through that if I choose the Bane Spider path. No other arc in the game seems to make any reference to it, and the NPC behavior of the Bane Spiders throughout the rest of the game doesn't really indicate any sort of collective conciousness either.

Just curious.

If you want, I'll help you unlock the SoAs, then you can run the arcs and see the SoA arcs for yourself. =)

Heh, that's alright, I'm getting there at my own slow pace.

It's just that CoV roleplaying already seems a little scarce, and I don't know that I've ever bumped into anyone RPing a Bane Spider.

Crabs far outnumber Banes. I myself did choose a Bane, but have never heard anyone roleplay one. It's a weird arc for sure. A Borg network without the queen.

i'm running a Bane now and find it to be fun and a interesting challange as for RPing a Bane, well i just play the toons for fun so i'm no help, but i'll tell you the night widow seems to be the stronger of the 4 builds.

I think I read about it on Paragonwiki. There was something about one of the Bane Spiders breaking free of the Hive mind (I think it's the same arc you just completed). Anyways, the way I read it, the Bane Spider then began to help the other Bane Spiders recover their minds. I don't remember anything like if one Bane Spider awakens, Arachnos is in big trouble, just that Lord Recluse got angry that there was a traitor.

I haven't unlocked SoA's yet either (10 more levels to go!), but I plan to go the Bane Spider route. If I hit 50 before you and you're still curious, I could see what I find.

For me it's easy. My bane spider is dead, so no hive-mind needed and they don't miss me.

Huntsmen are the new FoTM if you ask me.

I did a Huntsman because:
1. I wanted to be "original." Huntsman Antares was one of the 'first' so I succeeded there.
2. After doing Phipps' (a few times) I was determined not to do a Bane, even though I've always liked them. Being linked to a Hive mind doesn't sound very enticing. And Crabs seem like they have to go through a lot of pain to get those arms bonded to their spines.

Huntsman seemed pretty natural to me: Totally devoted to Recluse's cause, yet retaining some measure of freewill.
