Joking and laughing about a black man getting tasered. Who'da thunk it? :sarcasm:

Why does the title say "Obama Supporter"? Did they just assume since he is a criminal he supports Obama? The title on the news clip says he was involved in a high speed chase.

A lot of people think the taser videos are funny for some reason. I'm sure if you tasered them they would have a different opinion.

Because Break is retarded.

Good to see that a "respectable" news source finds it funny and makes jokes that a man is getting tasered after surrendering.

Much better, that one's more relevant to the topic at hand. but the "McCain gets Barrackrolled" is soooo much funnier.

John Stewart and Stephen Colbert FTW!
Hell, Marvel Comics' Joe Quesada has bequeathed the shield of Captain America to the only man who has the red, white and blue balls to carry the mantle: Stephen Colbert.

Colbert even has a ben and jerry's ice cream dedicated to him!

So Suck on that!
It was funny during the Civil Rights movement when Blacks were being hosed down, so I guess it's still funny in 2008? Dunno. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

It was funny on a syndicated radio show out of Washington DC when guys were volunteering to be tasered a few years ago... pretty sure they were tasering white guys, too.
Of course, its funny then because "Hah hah, look at the retard volunteering to be shocked." Its never funny when people are tasered against their will --whether they deserve it or not. And people that think its funny are pretty low on the food chain, in my opinion.

Clarification: just because some people don't seem to realize that the OP of the thread is misleading...
The Guy getting tasered is NOT an Obama supporter protesting at a John McCain Rally.
The Guy getting tasered is a suspected criminal who was evading police from a previous and most likely dangerous high speed car chase.
Running from the police and non-compliance should = getting your ass tasered IMO, and i back the police up on that.
I do not condone nor approve the comments of the news staff. Very unprofessional, and hopefully they were reprimanded by their supervisor...

But he had surrendered, right? He has his hands in the air in that vid and they still taser him.

Anyone who leads the police on a high speed chase endangering the lives of everyone around them deserves to get tasered. And yes, I find it funny.

Unless he changed his mind. I've seen plenty of hands up guys think they don't need handcuffed and end up in fight. If they'd been chasing the guy through traffic, why risk it? I'm sure the taser use will be reviewed by IA. We tend to get all up in arms about stuff we see on youTube without thinking about what happened next.
As to the morning guy who laughed. Come on, we all went Oh god and chuckled when they tasered him. Same as we do when we see a good football hit or a knockout its a reaction to violence and how quick people get shutdown. It's the male equivalent to bursting into tears or whatever chick do when they do the empathy thing.
People who don't enjoy a little physical humor and can't appreciate pain with a little good humor are lower Nerfed. I'd think the guy who says "Oh God, that had hurt" and chuckles for a second has more empathy and experience with the pain involved then guy who doesn't. I'm also pretty sure they are the first to step in when it goes over the line... But I'm over 40 different generation. Oh, and aren't most tasings involuntary?

All they know is that this guy is dangerous and put numerous peoples lives in jeopardy with a deadly weapon (a vehicle) risking his own life in the process.

Well, then IF he starts to run again, you tase him. Those things have a decent reach. Once he surrenders, tasing him is just completely unnecessary.

I disagree. If he had got down on the ground and put his hands behind his head as I'm sure the cops instructed him to do (likely multiple times per standard procedure), didn't resist, and then got tasered... then yes I would agree to with you.
but.. but.. he put his hands up in the air!
but.. but.. he just tried to kill people with a car.

I still think the police tend to let personal feelings get involved and taser him for petty revenge. Of course, I am not at the scene. Many normal people don't understand "police procedure", even guys that have been arrested multiple times, especially when they can't hear instructions over other officers yelling, helicopters and all that.
There have been many ways to defuse a car chase that, for some reason, police departments around here have NOT implemented. Fifty police cars tend to chase the perpertrator, causing as much harm as the single perp himself, like it is some sort of game.
Really, by the time he gave up, with his hands in the air, there are probably at least 10-15 (or more) police surrounding him. He obviously thinks it is pointless to resist and yet someone decides to taz him? Sounds like petty revenge.
You see, I know all about cops and all the dangers they face, but they should be role models at all times, no matter how hard the job gets. Not all cops fail at this, but many do.
