The hero known as Frost Cat truged slowly down the sidewalk, her tail hanging low and twitching only slightly. She wasn't in her costume but rather her casual clothes, not that it really made a difference. She was easily identifiable no matter what she wore given her feline features. Her outfit consisted of a minimal top that covered her chest and not much more. The jacket she normally wore was tied around her waist almsot forming a second skirt over the leather one she currently wore.
She had nowhere to be and nothing to do. For once in a long while all of her contacts were either pouring over information she had brought them from the field or simply had no active cases for her to work on. It was days like these where a normal hero would have gone and done something fun with their friends, visited family, or worked on a hobby. Days that came far too seldom in this city of heroes.
Then again Frost Cat was hardly normal. Her general personality drove most people away and if that didn't quite do the trick it was a simple matter to turn up the attitude and chase them away the rest of the way. The exact whys for her behavior were her own and something she wasn't about to share, even if she had close friends to share it with.
Continuing down the street the sound of a radio from a nearby building caused her ears to perk up. "Welcome back listeners. This is Mark Tucker bringing you the latest weather report. Incase you've been hiding inside today is a scorcher and brings us to the fourth day of a heat wave that has no end in sight. Highs are expected to reach into the upper 90s with the current temporature....."
The weatherman's voice faded away as Frost Cat moved out of hearing range. He had summed it up quite nicely. It was hot and not just hot but hotter then an Outcast Scorcher, hotter then a Behemoth Overlord, even hot enough to rival even Infernal himself. At least that was how it felt to Frost Cat. Sure she had the ability to control ice and thus create a measure of cool in this heat but that cost energy which in turn required effort which in turn made her even hotter. It was a vicious cycle that if followed to conclusion would leave her far worse off then she was now.
From off to her right a sudden cool breeze waffted across her face, causing her dark blue hair to sway ever so slightly. Turning her face toward the welcome jet of air she saw that her feet had carried her to the doors of a local grocery store. That was when an idea formed in her mind. There was only one way to get relief from the sweltering heat on a day such as this. Something cool, something sweet, and something creamy. "Yes. I think a bit of ice cream is just what I need."
