The Icons is a Casual Light to Moderate RPSG. We’re currently looking for members to get the ball rolling on what could potentially be a very great supergroup!

The Basic Theme of The Icons is simple: We’re a collection of Heroic Rolemodels for both our fellow heroes and citizens alike. Possibly the only supergroup that doesn’t mind a little publicity every now and then, we fight for our planet and all its inhabitants selflessly. We aspire to be a supergroup like that of The Justice League and The Avengers, a collection of colorful heroes, both bright and dark.

For more information, feel free to visit our Website or contact me ingame!

Wow this brings back memories. Are you leading it these days TO?

Well, actually, today is my first day actively recruiting since snatching the name up in April. I really didn't want to see such a good supergroup fall into the land of no return... And I've really been wanting to give leading a supergroup another go!

I've got a coulple of toons that could use a good SG. Plus, I plan on getting a peacebringer soon, maybe he'll fit in too.

Hell, since after double XP weekend I hope to have a maing hero to work on, probably Humor since he's highest, I may throw a toon into this.

@Yin and Gaia: Thanks for your support, guys. I know this is going to be yough because of the abundance of supergroups out there... Hopefully, persistence can help me win this battle...

The colors of your website are a little rough on the eyes (at least mine). Good start though and hope you can make it happen. Stick with it and it should prosper.

Thanks for the love guys!

Grae, I was wondering if I should try to darken the colors a bit. I may play around with the codes later tonight and see if I come up with something different...

Not sure. Could be the beige on white that makes it so bright. Perhaps beige on black instead?

I don't think it's that bright, Grae turn down your monitor settings :P

I'ld love to get a chance to be on the icons. That would be WAY cool. Just need a costume update tho.

And to find my computer in all the boxes from the move.

Well, I'm trying to keep the white. I'd probably darken the beige before going Beige on Black. After looking at some of the other groups, I want to keep our site and supergroup lighthearted . We're not a group of heroes who take ourselves too seriously.

What's wrong with the look you have now, EB? Nonetheless, you know where to find us! I'm going to be in-game all day today. Well, atleast that's what the plan is!

Gaia

Maybe a sepia tone on the background with a greyish white in the lettering for the headers. Course most of my sites use black for backgrounds of a soft blue. And for your information I'm using a 20" monitor with most of the resolutions set in the mid-range.

See you on the streets.

Not EB to join but Lava. I just don't care for most of her looks. Not "Icon" enough I think.

The problem I see with this is the yellow sky in the background blending too much with the beige lettering. If the sky were blue, the white of City Hall wouldn't seem to blend in so much.

Also, I think I have just what The Icons are looking for...

I believe Nerfed is right. A blue will be a nice contrast for the background. It'll let Atlas Hall stand out, and set things up better as far as fore, middle, and background are concerned. I'm with Grae on this. My eyes started bleeding after staring at it too long. That's not to say it's horrible, but it is a little uneasy on the eyes. :)

Just be glad you don't have to look at the All Star Teen Sentinels (http://asts.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=178610&TabID=1511104) site. I start going into a migraine or get a nervous tick looking at it.

I have a couple of quick questions regarding this SG.

How much of a commitment are you looking for? I would love to play a toon that is dedicated to this group, and participates in things, but my normal play times makes this usually impossible.

Also, what's the rules regarding alts in the group?

Chris

Regarding the website and colors, I may look into it a little more at a later date. For right now, I think it's bearable for the purpose it's serving. For now, I'm going to darken the colors of the text.

As far as commitment, it's up to you. With the floating membership Idea I've adapted, I'm not going to hound down inactive people.

In regards to events, when we begin to organize them, I'm definitely going to try and incorporate everyone's varying playtimes. Luckily, I'm a young man that has the lifestyle that can make way for all types of playtimes!

The rules regarding alts as of now is that everyone is allowed one primary character, and two additional alts. Like I said about commitment, I'm not really gonna hunt people down, but at the same time, I'm trying to keep The Icons from becoming an Alt Dump.

Do you find this helpful?

hmmm, I've been thinking it's time to get back into a group (my toons are all currently in their own little SG). Maybe this is the place :)

Yes, extremely, thank you. In that case, I have a couple of toons in mind, with potentially a third, depending on how much I get attached to my peacebringer when I finally get him.

Assuming that it won't be my peacebringer, here's who I would like to enter as my main. I'll probably fill out an application after this weekend.

Hey, TO. I've decided that I want to submit Darkglove to the Icons. I was going over the recruitment rules on the site. Do we need to work out a time in-game where Queen of Sheeba and DG can meet?

You're usually on late nights, right? I'll probably be on later. I'm kinda taking a break from CoX for the day due to staying on all double xp weekend! What are your usual playtimes? In the meantime, you can go ahead and post an application on the forums and we can handle that part of the membership process since I'll be on and off all day. :D

What level is Intentional Malice, btw?

My usual playtimes are between 9:30pm and 11pm pacific, with some variation.

Intentional Malice is now 23, and only 2 bubbles from 24. :D

So, The Icons are doing wonderfully so far! I was wondering if any of you older Icons had a written account of the Icons history, who the founding members were, what year you formed together, things like that. I plan to commence writing the super group history and would love to include the original Icons in it if possible. Anything and everything will be helpful!

Founding Members... um... I know Imperial and I-Cross were in it. Empyreal, Comet Woman... I think I had Sentinel in it then. It was back before the game launched so 03-early 04 at least.

T-O, are you talking from an OOC perspective or more IC. I think the IC version went through a number of revisions in the groups's history.

OOC wise, The Icons were originally formed in the pre-beta days (that 05 or 06?) as a roleplaying group emulating the classic Justice League / Avengers model and having archetyping character roles as requisites for membership.

Then beta came, and then the launch came, and we had a blast for a while until everybody realized that Imp is a fantastic visionary and idea guy, but sucks as an administrator.

'Pre-beta' can be defined as any time between the launch of the Cityofheroes.com message boards in September 2001, and the release of the game in April 2004, which is also when the original CoH.com boards were wiped. You'd think 'pre' beta would kind of exclude beta itself but people seem to include beta in that broad term.

Good question.

I guess I'm mostly concerned with IC information which is mostly held as cannon by the older members. Prebeta Team Make-up included. My main concern is that I don't want to start working on The Icons roleplayed history without properly attributing the former members for their contributions to The Icons. A date on which the group was founded would be great as well.

I don't know much about The Icons history, but I sure do remember them. I was in The City Watch for awhile at that time.

I just think it is cool that you grabbed the name and are wanting to include the old members and the old history and keep the group around. Very cool stuff TO!

Oh, hmm. Then I guess the Icons got started in the fall of '03. Wow. Was it really that long ago? dang.

Well of the founding members I remember is was The Imperial, Empyreal, I-Cross, and Plasma Wisp.

Imperial and I-Cross rescued Empy (http://virtueverse.com/index.php/Empyreal) out of the wreckage of a Crey facility after it was blown up by the Rikti in the first Rikti War. Eventually coming to live on The Imperial's estate in the guest house.

And SK playing a cyborg or robot named Jaycs.

The Icons were originally founded by Imp after seeing so many anti-hero, kill or be killed, morally gray heroes and teams running around. It didn't even have a name to begin with until a reported asked him about the consistent group of heroes he had been seen with.

And, somewhat offhandedly, Imp replied, "The world doesn't need more heroes. It needs icons."

The name stuck.
