Hmm, come to think of it, I haven't done a Covers show in a long time. I may have to soon.

JIMI HENDRIX’s take on DYLAN’s All Along The Watchtower was the best.
I remember Dylan commenting on Hendrix's cover of that song. His reaction: "I wrote all my songs for Jimi."
AC/DC's reaction to Celine Dion should fall along the lines of "No one should ever write songs for this bitch again. God damnit, god damnit, mother-****ing god damnit! Stop singing, woman! You suck!"
...or, you know, something like that.

For no good reason, I looked it up, was so bad. I mean the guitarist did fairly well, but dear god she is no longer aloud to sing more then her normal crap.

I nominate Sixpence None the Richer's cover of There She Goes, by The La's. First off, the song. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvPm0-tIQk0)
I won't bother linking the cover. Mind you, this is a song about painful, unreturned love. The original vocalist is a guy, and it's part wolf howl, part sob. The cover is by a woman. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, as long as the woman changes the lyrics, or is a lesbian, or isn't in a Christian Rock band. She changed the song from something real and emotional into Fun With **** and Jane. I doubt they had heroin in mind, either. Oh, didn't catch that, did you? Neither did Sixpence None the Richer. "Pulsing through my vein, Driving my train," etc. Yup, "There She Goes" is a song about love, sure, but it's also about heroin! Yay heroin! Maybe Sixpence None the Richer thought it was about "a heroine." I mean what else can I say, it's like hearing Hannah Montana covering "Brown Sugar."
Of course the upshot is that they ended up using the bloodless christian rock cover of a song about heroin in a birth control commercial. So I don't know what the **** is going on anymore.

And I thought Mariah Carey covering Def Leppard's "Bringing on the Heartache' was the worse case of sacrilege I'd heard. Her and Celine must be smoking the same crack.

Being the Finnish metal enthusiast that I am, I actually kinda liked Northern Kings take on some older, popular songs...Don't Stop Believin' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGmhDLnWhOY) and Rebel Yell (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cgzikhnv7qQ) are pretty cool.
And it's unfortunate that Celine Dion missed her date with a tragic accident in a meat packing plant. The world has been grieving ever since.
