So both the wife and I are insanely ill right now, although she's a bit worse off than I am. I still went to work this morning, but getting up against the pain was a struggle, and I really didn't do much while I was there.

I starting thinking about the little things I do when I'm sick, things that I do differently from my every day life. I eat chicken soup. I take dicongestants. I tend to have less energy which means I lay around more. It's all part of the coping process, the struggle to get myself better as quickly as possible. Now, I consider myself lucky in that I believe I have a healthy constitution. I never get motion sickness, I never throw up (except once after heavy drinking), I never hiccup more than three times in a row (no, seriously). I have a pretty durable frame, so hopefully this cold, like many others before, will be short-lived.

But I wanted to toss this out to you, the home viewer. When you take ill, what do you do to take care of yourself? I'm betting some of you out there have unusual habits and practices to help make yourself feel better, so let's hear them. :shinner:

Lot's of "pampering" from the wifey :P, that and considerable amounts of sleep.

One time, I had a flu, an ear infection, and bronchitis all at the same time. I couldn't eat anything but Gatorade, jello, and toast (without butter) for a week. Man that sucked.

Sleep, wake up, sit on the couch, sleep more. That'll do it.

When I'm sick, I try the whole "sleep" shtick but I've never been good at it. So I make myself some soup, but usually there isn't any soup in the house and no one home to get some for me, so I have some tea and cry a little because oh god I'm so lonely.

Enjoy some soup, park your but (and back) on the couch in front of the TV, get some sleep, and enjoy all that daytime Tv you miss during the work day.

LOTS of orange juice. If you can, a carton (for each of you) a week.

Garlic. I swear by it. Good for when you're not feeling so good.

Peppermint tea, if you like it. Or Altoids. I use them both for coughing and congestion.

I was also given a 5000 year old cold remedy recipe which, surprisingly enough, does work. You have to make it exactly right though, or it does NOT taste good.

I almost never get sick myself, so I know how this is... And a positive 'I am GOING TO GET BETTER DANGIT...' attitude never hurt. ;)

Keep yourself hydrated.
Rest.
Eat fruits and veggies when possible, will ease the amount of water you need to guzzle, plenty of citrus fruits too.
Sunlight, I don't care if you beach yourself on the sofa, as long as you got the blinds open and the sunlight pouring on ya.
Hot Tea with honey and lemon.
And, to speed up your recovery, imagine me coming over to your house dressed in a tight nurses uniform and thong...

The point is to make him LESS ill, Es, not MORE...

One word, Marathon! If you got any good TV show Boxsets or good movies, just cuddle up in your bed and let the good times roll!
